About this listing
This private bedroom features a double bed, big enough for two guests (140cm x 200cm). It is furnished with a closet, a desk, two chairs and a nightstand.
The apartment is on the third floor (no elevator) in a building that is about 100 years old and hasn't been renovated in quite some time. The amenities are basic and I got most of my furniture from thrift stores. It's not exactly sleek and modern, but I consider that to be one of its charms.
There is no balcony. But you'll be ideally located, very close to the Exhibition Centre (Messe), and it is just a short walk to the city centre and/or the Rhine (approx. 10 minutes).
There is free WLAN, of course and, if needed, you may use the washing machine and dryer in the basement.
I can hook you up with some (vegetarian) breakfast. Please let me know in advance if you would like breakfast or not, though. You can always just make a cup of coffee or tea and use anything out of the fridge and pantry.
I set the checkout time at noon, but it is possible to leave your luggage here and pick it up again later that day.
It is possible to rent the entire 2 bedroom apartment. Please contact me if that is something you might be interested in.
I will also give lower rates to guests who want to rent the room for more than a week. Ask me a for a deal. I'm always willing to negotiate.
Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions! You can write to me in English or German.
You'll have full access to the kitchen (gas stove, microwave, toaster oven, no dish washer) and the bathroom (shower/tub, towels provided by me), however, you are sharing them with me and sometimes with the lodgers in the other room.
Interaction with guests
I try to give guests their space and privacy while remaining approachable for questions.
Normally, you will be sharing the apartment with me, in some occasions, there might be more guests in the second room. That doesn't happen very often, though.
The area is lively and multi-cultural with lots of bodega style shops that allow for late night shopping until 10pm. There are numerous pizza and kebab take-aways within walking distance. Also some good restaurants, an excellent steak house just next door and the more eclectic "Goldenes Fass" and "Salon" on the same block.
A tram station is 30 metres away. The bus that will take you either directly to the Badische Bahnhof (German train station) in 5 minutes or Basel main train station SBB (about 15 minutes) is just 200 metres away. I also have one extra mens bicycle that I could lend you against a deposit. It's really easy to get around the city by bike!
Other things to note
There is a hair dryer in the bathroom and I can provide an iron if needed.
There is some shampoo, shower gel and toothpaste in your room.
Please keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Try keep the noise down after midnight. Thanks!
Please put glass bottles, cans, aluminum, batteries, paper/cardboard
and PET plastic bottles in the paper bag underneath the sink in the kitchen.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
