Where you’ll be

Faye d'Anjou, Maine et Loire, France

Château de Chanzé is located in the Loire Valley (North-West France) between two rural wine producing villages of Thouarcé and Faye d’Anjou in the viticulture Commune of Bellevigne-en-Layon. The Maine-et-Loire Department is part of the region known as the ‘Anjou’ and the Château is located directly on the Anjou Wine Trail “Route des Vins & Villages de l’Anjou”. There are plenty of beautiful walks amongst the trails and vineyards directly across the road from the Château. The nearest city, Angers is a 30-minute drive from the Château.
The village of Thouarcé is an easy 1.2km walk from the Château with a supermarket, Laundromat, petrol station, garage, hairdresser, florist, post office, ATM machine, 2 bakeries, butcher/caterer, bar/tabac, church, covered swimming pool, farmers’ market, doctor, dentist, pharmacy and cinema. In the other direction is the village of Faye d’Anjou with a bakery, bar/tabac, Proxy (mini supermarket) and tennis courts.
The region is crammed with rich, cultural heritage and some experiences you won't find anywhere else in France including the Apocolypse Tapestry in Angers, Troglodyte villages, Châteaux and spectacular gardens.

Bonjour! Kia Ora! Hello! Guten Tag! In 2015 I took over the running of this beautiful 11th century Château and Farmhouse which has been in my family since 1993. I'm originally from Switzerland and moved to France after living in New Zealand for over 20 years.

As self-confessed gourmand I share a love for good food, wine, music and great company which can be found in abundance in the surrounding region of the Loire Valley.

I trained in Hotel and Restaurant Management in Lucerne and in the ‘off’ season work as a private tour guide in New Zealand. I have set up a relaxed and friendly yet efficient style of management amongst this beautiful setting.

I am fluent in Swiss (German), High German, French (well mostly) and English.
