This is a small attached townhouse, situated beside and behind a pair of larger ones. On the ground floor are a living room-kitchen and a very small room filled with a bed suitable for one person; up a narrow, steel spiral staircase, on the upper level there is a smallish bedroom with double bed and desk, plus the unit's bathroom. Overall the accommodation is agreeably sunny and spacious for a couple, but the upstairs bathroom arrangement was troublesome for the one member of our 3-person party who was sleeping downstairs.
Basically the unit was well equipped, but we definitely could have used more towels. The wifi worked fine, after we made some adjustments to the instructions (we found one router had been unplugged and another plugged in). We appreciated the availability of a washer and dryer, with detergent provided.
We would particularly recommend this rental for its excellent location. It's just a ten-minute walk to the compact city center or to the path along the sea, and it's adjacent to a more authentic and arty area of Galway where we enjoyed meals and evening music.
Ruth was easy to communicate with and greeted us at the apartment. We enjoyed its location on the West End of Galway, slightly out of the mass tourist hustle and bustle, and found our dining experiences near the house to be excellent as well. The off street parking was much appreciated. The house is smaller than it looks and is a stretch to accommodate more than two people. One of the bedrooms is extremely small by any standard, barely large enough to fit a single bed. In the summer months it can be difficult to sleep if one guest has to stay on the pull out futon in the living because of the sunlight flooding the apartment 19 hours a day. Curtains to cover the sky lights in the living room are in desperate need. We also found the apartment could use a deep cleaning, from the mold in the bathroom to the bathtub that barely drains.
Ruth's apartment is bright and airy, a great size for 3-4 people. The apartment is central to all the bars and restaurants. We walked everywhere. Ruth shared her local knowledge, especially some good food and music venues which were great. Totally positive experience. I Highly recommend this apartment if you want to stay in Galway. ☺️
We recently spent four fabulous days in Galway and staying at Ruth’s apartment was wonderful. The place is within walking distance to the city center and the bay park. The apartment was neat, clean and cheery. We took the bus from Dublin and would recommend taking a taxi to and from the coach station at a cost of less than 10 euros. Ruth was a great host and gave us great recommendations for visiting Galway.
Ruth gave us a welcome-feeling right from the start.
The flat is perfect located, near to the shore and closer to the inner city. The appartment has every supply you need also a baby cot (even spieces and stuff) and Ruth is always happy to help and support you. She lives just over the street which is really helpful in some situations.
We felt really welcome and enjoyed our holiday in Ruth's appartment.
We had an awesome time in Galway and the surrounding area due in great part to the comfort and convenience of Ruth's apartment. It was the perfect location for our day trips to Connemara and The Burren and the short 5 minute walk to the Latin Quarter in Galway was awesome. The apartment was everything promised and the off street parking was brilliant. At Ruth's recommendation we visited The Crane Bar which became our nightly music fix location.
The host was very warm and welcoming. Area is close to Latin Quarter. It is perfect if you just need a base to sleep.
There are lots of products that people have left which is very handy (bathroom wise!)
