We are in Gila, NM! This is high desert, 83 ranch acres on Bear Creek, beside the Gila Wilderness, a private guesthouse w/private hot tub, amazing wildlife, beautiful views, dark night skies, reasonably fast Wifi (20+mbps), Internet TV, Tempurpedic Queen + Queen with Tempurpedic top, ORGANIC breakfast fixin's to start you off in a well appointed kitchen. Propane BBQ Grill. Dog friendly (only with all vaccinations and never left alone in house), eco-friendly.
This is a vacation destination.

The space
Air-Conditioned Las Palomas Guesthouse with underfloor heating, is a peaceful, private guesthouse, built for our family and friends, now shared with new friends as our guests. Connected to BLM land and then to the Gila Wilderness - you'll have 3.5 million acres to explore. We are eco-friendly (solar panels feed the grid). We are also dog friendly on request, if their owners are responsible and well behaved. Make yourselves right at home! Mi casita es su casita!
Blue sky in the day, dark sky at night with millions of stars (sitting in the hot tub is a good place to spot meteor showers).
The kitchen is a full, cook's kitchen. We provide ORGANIC breakfast foods when we can, including eggs, milk, bread, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, teas galore, butter, jam, mustard, mayonnaise, catsup, oil, vinegar, sugar, and more spices than you could shake a spatula at. That bit of baking soda and few tablespoons of flour are there too, most likely.
Water is well water (350 feet down) and pure and clean.
There are two outside tables for meals and a propane barbecue. You will find grill utensils, aluminum foil, cling wrap, ice trays, tissues, kitchen towel, paper napkins. Bring on the steaks!
Supermarkets are in Silver City, 25 or so miles away. We are a frontier community and we learn to keep our pantries stocked and our gas tanks full.

Guest access
Our property comprises 83+ acres and is part of a working ranch of thousands of acres. You can walk along Bear Creek on our property and adjoining ranch. And just up the road you have the Gila Wilderness - 3.5 million acres of true wilderness.
We have an Endless Pool that we allow guests to use, if in service (seasonal and servicing needs) and only at our discretion, and always at your own risk.

Other things to note
Don't forget a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses! Also, binoculars are useful for birding. Local calls are free. We do not get cell service at the guesthouse, but we do at the top of the driveway. Your cellphone + WiFi normally works fine.
Silver City with full shopping facilities is 25 miles away (a stress-free drive) and there are stores, a micro-brewery, restaurants and a movie theater. Tourist sites include City of Rocks, the Catwalk, the Gila Cliff Dwellings and many--many!--more.

Neighborhood highlights

Geronimo territory, Bear Creek and Gila were home of the Apache. Giant skies, vast mountain ranges, high desert cool mornings, but not too hot days. At night, the Milky Way illuminates the terrain, crystal clear and sparkling.
Adjacent to the first American official Wilderness area of over 3 million acres, you can walk for days and not see a soul.
Driving almost empty roads reminds one of the '50s when driving was fun and road trips were an adventure. Keep your gas tank full!
Nearby (25 miles) Silver City was a 1800's mining town, now home to artists, musicians, and Western New Mexico University. Historic downtown movie house, numerous restaurants and lively art scene and a famed local brewery.
