This spacious, sunny, quiet 1 bedroom on 2nd floor of a doorman bldg on Manhattan's historic Upper West Side (West 79th St) - 2 blocks from Central Park, a half block from the Natural History Museum - sleeps up to 4.
Enjoy the month of August living in my spacious, Upper West Side Manhattan one bedroom apartment. The three-room, hard-wood-floored, apartment is what real estate brokers call a “true one bedroom.” The expansive unit includes a large, sunny bedroom, a separate living room w HBO/full cable/hi-speed wifi, a full kitchen, and a dinner table that seats four.
The living room includes a wall mounted flatscreen TV, a rich collection of books, and a super comfy couch ideal for a second or third guest.
Amenities includes an iron, hair dryer, linens, pillows, blankets, as well as bath towels for three people. A full set of extra sheets is available.
The kitchen includes a stove and microwave, a full set of pots and pans, plates and dishes, silverware, etc, as well as a smoothie blender; lobster pot; toaster, coffee maker.
The apartment’s north-facing bay windows bathe the spacious bedroom in summer sunlight, but with one of tug of the mahogany blinds’ strings, the room goes completely dark, for late sleepers. Two air conditioners cool the large apartment and two strong, but whisper-quiet Vornado fans are on hand for those who prefer natural air and open windows on summer nights in the city. The apartment is located in the back of the building, a reliably quiet, peaceful refuge from the busy city.
The lobby is manned on evenings and weekends by doormen, and a live-in superintendent is available. Porter and package delivery service is included.
The historic, family friendly streets of the Upper West Side are just a few blocks from the parks along the Hudson River - ideal for biking, rollerblading or just walking. The world famous West 79th Street Boat Basin, one of the UWS’s coolest summer nightspots, is right down the street.
The apartment is ideally located two blocks east and west of a trio of subway lines; two blocks from Central Park; a half block from the American Museum of Natural History; two blocks from the legendary Beacon Theater and two of the city’s best-known markets, Zabar’s and Fairway. A short walk north will bring you to the beautiful Columbia University campus and the neo-gothic St. John the Divine cathedral. Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle are a short walk south. The historic, family friendly streets of the Upper West Side are fill with some of the best bars and restaurants in New York City, as well as urban favorites like Pinkberry (1 block), Shake Shack (2 blocks) and Luke’s Lobsters (2 blocks).
Times Square is two subway stops south. Please be aware that there is a fee of $70.00 for cleaning and that you are responsible for the utility bill, which usually amounts to about $60/month.
The rental includes a bike room slot in the basement, and use of the building's two elevators and the full-service laundry room with eight brand new washing machines and dryers.
Interaction with Guests
I will be out of town during the guest's visit, but available to greet the guests at the beginning of the stay as well as at the end - and to come to West 79th Street to help address any problems/issues that arise which cannot be resolved by phone. I also have plenty of trusted friends in the neighborhood who would be glad to help my renters out in a pinch!
Only house rules are no smoking, respect my neighbors, and please leave the apartment in the same condition you find it. - Chris
