  • If you want to stay at a place in a great location and don't care much for engaging in small talk with the host, then this place is for you. I've been to Hawai'i many times so I'm somewhat familiar with the culture and island, but if you're looking for a host who'll check in on you during your visit, then this place isn't for you.

Here were some of the issues that may bother people, but didn't necessarily bother me:
    1. noise level is quite high - the windows do not seal tight and the property is located adjacent to a somewhat busy street and across an autoshop.
    2. ants and roaches - this isn't a 5 star hotel and you're on an island, so this is expected. if pests bother you, look elsewhere.
    3. property was not clean - there were mysterious food scraps left in the kitchen sink, dust balls on the linens, and lots of hair in the drain of the shower. I only realized the shower wasn't clean because there was a ball of hair, which prevented the water from draining quickly. This actually bothered me because there is a cleaning fee assessed with each visit, and I expected my unit to be clean.
    4. wifi is provided via clearwire mifi device. it's not necessarily high speed, but then again, you're on vacation - go get some sun!
    5. floors and furniture had sand on them. again, what happened to the cleaning fee?

  • We had a very good time at Joanna's place. It was in an area that was very close to everything, was very clean when we got there, had everything you might possibly need including plenty of towels, toiletries, sport equipment, etc. The parking spot and being next to Rainbow drive-in came in handy as well. I would say that it isn't in the most affluent part of town, but I think it gave a very good Honolulu experience. If you are looking for a crash pad, and plan to be outside at the beach and exploring the island this is definitely the place for you.

  • This place is great for a short stay in the Honolulu area. It's just outside the main Waikiki area so isn't quite so noisy or busy, but is within easy walking distance of the beach (about a mile) and there's plenty of food outlets and a 7 eleven within walking distance.

The place itself is well equipped and has plenty of extras for the beach that will save you time and money. It is pretty cosy - probably best suited for 2 people but 3 could stay at a push - but that's not really an issue as you aren't likely to spend too long indoors in Hawaii! I only briefly met Joanna herself but she was always very prompt and helpful when dealing with any queries.

  • It was a small but cozy apartment; I didn't mind the size because lands are limited in Oahu. It was very close to Waikiki without the rush. Apartment was clean and had all the amenities, walking distance to restaurants. I was able to reach Joanna while I was figuring out which was her apartment and she responded within 5 mins. Kudos to that!

  • The place is great!!! It has everything we needed: extra mattress, linens, bedsheets, snorkelling gears, etc. The air mattress did not work that well, though. It is a great place for 4 people (a little bit crowded). Will definitely fit 3 people comfortably. The kitchen utensils are complete as well!! I'd definitely come back. The only cons we had with the place were sticky floor (not that bad) and limited parking availability. The host is awesome! She responds promptly and very helpful. Not forgetting the most important thing: the location. It is conveniently located to Waikiki beach and other tourist attractions.

  • Joanna's place is clean and conveniently located. We only stayed for two nights but I would definitely recommend this place for people in the future. She was responsive it questions. I'll be using air bnb for future trips to the islands.

  • This property is small but with ideal location, perfect for 2 people! 10 minute walk from downtown Waikiki, the beach and tons of local restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay here

  • We stayed at Joanna's place for 4 nights in February 14. A comfortable little apartment in a good location. Just 10 minute walk to Waikiki Beach, the condo was well equipped with all we needed for some fun at the beach.

A small 1 bedroom, made smaller with quite a lot of furniture, this is really only suitable for 2 people as the sofa lounge was quite old, lumpy and uncomfortable. The bedroom however was very comfortable.

Be wary of the neighbour who can be quite loud - not ideal for us travelling with a 1 year old but it seemed to keep us up more than it did her and certainly no problem if you are planning on enjoying the Waikiki nightlife!

The late check in is not at all flexible which was tough on an early arriving overnight flight.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this spot for a travelling couple.

  • This apartment is a great, clean, no frills, convenient landing pad, especially for a couple. My partner and I appreciated how accessible it is to everything (both fun sights and practical stuff like restaurants, grocery store, drug store etc.) We also really appreciated the valuable parking spot that comes with it! We were impressed with how thoughtfully well stocked the place is with toiletries, beach gear, kitchen stuff etc.

It is not a luxurious or aesthetically beautifully place (concrete walls and no real views) and since it is ground level you will hear noises from the street (which you can pretty much drown out if you keep a fan going at night). Also, I cannot imagine being comfortable if you have more than 2 people staying here. (Even 2 friends not willing to share a bed might find it a bit challenging). But it was plenty of space for a couple and as we are from NYC the urban aspects of the apartment didn't faze us at all, nor were we looking for anything fancy or pretty.

Also noteworthy: Joanna's list of what to do while in Hawaii was also stellar. We took many of her suggestions and were glad we listened to her. (Tip: I am especially happy I had my shave ice with vanilla ice cream and azuki beans - not sure I would have thought to put all those things together and it was delicious!)

Our primary need was to have a clean and comfortable place to make and eat breakfast before sight seeing, and to get some sleep after long wonderful days enjoying the beauty of Hawaii! Joanna's apartment definitely met our needs. It was the perfect convenient and affordable spot for our fantastic vacation and we were very happy with our experience here.
