  • Martin and Jo are absolutely lovely; they are kind, fun, interesting, informative, and helpful people. I strongly recommend a stay with them at their home in Penrith, or anywhere else, for that matter. If you are looking to make friends, Martin and Jo are quick to demonstrate an interest in their guests and to open up about themselves and their own interests. Though we only stayed one night, my girlfriend and I felt that we got to know Martin and Jo in rewarding ways, and we enjoyed a wide-ranging and enthusiastic conversation around their dinner table, discussing everything from global healthcare systems to television sitcoms. Had we wanted a more solitary and private stay, however, it was also clear that Martin and Jo completely respected our space and took their cues from us.

Their home in Penrith is comfortable and Martin and Jo are quite accommodating. Despite our significant dietary restrictions, my girlfriend and I were served a lovely breakfast, and we very much enjoyed Martin and Jo's recommended hikes in the Lake District. Parking is convenient, and their Penrith home is a great home base for venturing into the Lake District.

    A great stay!

  • We had a wonderful time staying there. Martin and Jo are very nice, good to talk to and helped us with our day trip. The double bedroom is nicely decorated and very spacious. We arrived by train and it was very easy to find the way to the house. The provided breakfast was good as well. The neighborhood is rather calm, with charming houses everywhere. Thank you again, for the wonderful days at your place. Whenever we'll be back in the area we'd definitely stay with you again :) Romy and Robert

About
Based in the Lake District but have lived in many places around the UK and abroad. I'm married to Jo, a maxillofacial surgeon, who like me loves to travel. I have two grown up children and am a Paediatric Physiotherapist, engineer, computer consultant, and like think of myself as a bit of an entrepreneur. We both enjoy skiing, sailing, kitesurfing, paragliding, diving, mountain-biking, hiking and being outdoors. We enjoy Airbnbing since when we can't travel ourselves "travelling comes to us" in the form of interesting guests...
