About this listing
A private bedroom and balcony are available for you in my home in historic downtown Rabat. The spacious & modern flat is ideally located & includes wi-fi, a full kitchen, laundry, huge terrace, two baths, two salons, lift, & private parking.
Peaceful and spacious, my flat is modern and comfortable with ample space indoors and out, including a large guest bedroom, full dining room, huge salon that guests can use privately if they book more than two people, full kitchen, 1.5 baths, two enclosed balconies and a huge private terrace.
The nightly fee gets you your own private bedroom. Additional guests have use of a large private salon with space for two to sleep. Guests also get use of the rest of the home (living room, kitchen, balcony, full & half bathrooms, & terrace). Your bedroom and the extra salon both get great sunlight. The bedroom has generous closets and an enclosed private balcony. The bed is big and can be separated into two single beds if desired, so between the bedroom and salon, it is possible to accommodate up to four people on singles or two couples on double-beds. The large extra salon is the biggest room in the house, with handsome carved ceilings and is furnished with comfortable modern sofa as an area for lounging or reading or taking meals. The full bathroom is huge and beautiful and has an enormous shower. The half bathroom is great to have in case the other is in use. The whole house has new tile floors, new appliances, and everything you need to feel at home. The guest room has a lock and key on the door, so you can lock your bedroom and take the key with you when you're out of the house. I have the fastest wi-fi plan available in Rabat and it is very reliable.
Interaction with Guests
I'm a busy woman and am usually out of the house working during the days, but often available in the evenings. I'm available to my guests for tea, questions, navigation help, or tours around the city when I have free time. Morocco is significantly easier to navigate with the help of a local, as maps and street signs are sparse or outdated much of the time. I have maps of Rabat for you to use, and can point out some of my favorite spots or let you know what cultural events are happening that week. I am a Native English speaker and also available for the occasional translation help for English speaking guests who need assistance navigating in the French/Arabic system, or tips with regard to Moroccan culture or Islamic holidays and customs.
This home is in an ideal central location but conveniently apart from the hustle-bustle on a quiet, safe street! Located in the famous Ocean Quarter, between the old Medina and the Atlantic Ocean. Our little neighborhood has everything you need from top-notch butchers and vegetable stands, cafes, pizza, there is a hammam (traditional bath house) just around the corner and even a public oven where you can wood-bake anything you want for $1. There are traditional and also modern options for dining, shopping, and living. To a large extent, I participate in both and can offer to help you with either.
The ocean is only a few blocks away where you can observe fisherman on the rocky cliffs. There also Rabat beach for swimming and surfing about a 20 minute walk away. If you are interested in surfing/paddleboard/kayak rentals let me know because I have a few connections!
This apartment is central to everything in downtown Rabat and you can walk everywhere! It is located just 550 meters west of the Gates of the ancient Medina/Central Market and 800 meters east of the Atlantic Ocean. Easily walk 18 minutes (1.4km), or ride in a petit taxi to the downtown Rabat train station, or hop on at one of the two tram stations located within 400 meters of the house to travel around the city cheaply on light rail! It may sound impossible to be this close to all the great things and also on a quiet street but somehow it is true! That is why my home is the best place in Rabat. You also have your own private parking space under the building as well.
Other Things to Note
Ask me if you have any questions about getting to and from Morocco. There is lots to do here in the capital city... from Salsa dancing to music festivals... there is always something happening!
I'm flexible about your check-in and check-out times, and if I have no other guests coming or going you are welcome to come early and stay late on your arrival and departure days if you ask ahead of time.
Rabat is the most European city in Morocco and the most modern and calm. It's a great place to start on a trip around Morocco. I also have friends who arrange surfing tours on the coast and tours to the desert on the weekends, so if there is something you desire to see or do in Morocco, I'd be happy to connect you to someone in my network!
You will be given a key for the duration of your stay and have no restrictions about hours of coming and going. You will have full access to the kitchen, terrace, both living rooms (one of them you can use as an additional sleeping room as needed) laundry room, etc. You are requested to clean up after yourself, especially in the shared spaces and be courteous to me and the neighbors.
I'm sorry but you're not permitted to bring people home with you unless they are long time friends of yours.
I have a really great instant hot water heater that makes very hot water, but I ask that you turn it on when you need hot water for dishes or showering or laundry, and turn it off again afterward to save propane.
Double guest room closets hold linens, towels, etc. and have plenty of space to hang your clothes and store your luggage!
Nicole has perfected the art of AirBnB. She was very helpful and her flat is immaculate. Location was perfect for anything you wanted to do. Absolutely recommend it..
All of the positive reviews on Nicole's profile are true. Although I only stayed for one night, Nicole was very kind, open, and welcoming. It made my first night in Morocco a very positive experience. She was a HUGE help when I was experiencing some taxi drama on my way from the Rabat airport to her apartment. Not only did she come outside to find us, after we got lost several times, but she got me through a fare dispute where I completely froze, lol. Nicole also generously allowed me to stay after the official check out time. That was really wonderful and gave me a chance to gather my bearings (and nerve) before setting off for Casablanca. She also gave great suggestions about sights like Chellah and provided clear directions to the Medina. Thank you so much Nicole! If you ever need a place to stay in Ottawa, my doors are open!
Melanie and Hadi are really nice persons, who were very kind and helpful. Before our arrival, Melanie wanted to know at what time we would arrive and gave us a lot of information how to get there by train, the hours and the site with the trainstabels.
At the time that we arrived Hadi was waiting for us and told us a lot of interesting things about the nabohurghood and restaurants nearby the appartement. (Dar Nadji was the best restaurant! Thanks for that ;) )
We enjoyed our stay very much!
Nicole was a wonderful host. She was incredibly helpful from the moment I first made contact with her. Nicole made every effort to make the transit between our stay in Casablanca to her doorstep as easy as possible. Both Nicole and her fiancé are warm and welcoming. The apartment is clean, modest and tidy. I would highly recommend staying. Nicole's language skills are really incredible, so she will be well suited to assist any non-French/Arabic speaking guests.
Nicole's flat was really amazing! She and Hadi were a great hosts, they helped me with everything I need to know about the area. The flat was so clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was so comfortable and everything you can need was available (I loved a huge mirror, shower and wifi of course). The flat was located in a very nice area, in the center of Rabat, close to the ocean and Medina and 3 minutes away from tram station. I definitely recommend this flat to everyone who wants to visit Rabat. BTW sorry about the lamp. I hope you would like the new one.
