Quaint and eclectic 700 sq. ft. home just blocks from downtown in a friendly neighborhood near the hippest zone in Austin, which is pretty darn hip. Two new and comfy queen size beds sleep four. Please note that the beds are separated by a half wall. A perfectly situated base for music fans, sports fans, racing enthusiasts or anyone who wants to visit Austin and explore. Also perfect for longer stays with a basically equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, flat screen TV, wireless Internet, and the privacy of a freestanding house all to yourself. Please no more than four guests and no pets.
You will enjoy walking to nearby restaurants, bars, and clubs, such as Takoba, Scoot Inn, Blue Dahlia, Hillside Farmacy, and Hotel Vegas. Walk to Tamale House East for some of the best breakfast tacos around, Progress for coffee, or Franklin Barbecue (some of the hottest bbq in the country).
We will greet you with a few local brews and Topo Chico in the fridge. A coffee maker and fresh ground coffee will help you off to a great start.
Our Walk Score is 92 (Walker’s Paradise). But there are also Capitol Metro bus stops nearby and pedicabs can get you across downtown if you’re too tired to foot it.
If you fly in, you'll be glad to know it's a pretty straight shot from the airport and a cheap cab ride.
Feel free to walk to East End Wines just around the corner and come back and enjoy it on our lovely deck in our lush backyard, where you can feel the vibe of nearby East 6th Street.
Important note: If you look at us on (website hidden) Street View - you'll be seeing our neighbor's house! Just sayin', (website hidden).
We’d love to have you visit!
Smoking outside only. Respect the house and the neighbors! No pets allowed at this point. No more than four people per stay, please. Also, please, no lighting of candles in the house. Please familiarize yourself with the house manual online (we will try to put a paper copy on the kitchen table.) Please use the recycle bin under the kitchen sink for aluminum, metal, paper, and plastic. No need to strip or make the beds before you leave. If you use the games, please make sure all the pieces are back in order afterward. Please text or otherwise contact me when you check in and when you check out. Feel free to let us know what you did in town or otherwise enjoyed about your stay. If anything goes wrong or needs attention, please let us know.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the popular East 6th St. and adjoining neighborhoods. G had plenty of Texas-roasted coffee and other beverages to welcome us when we arrived. I guess I overlooked this in my rush to book the place, but there are 2 separate bedrooms with big beds, a laundry room and a patio that you will actually want to spend time on - it's so pretty out back! Thank you G.
Our host was very accommodating. She sent us plenty of information about the things to do and restaurants within walking distance. We were only about a 10 minute walk from 6th St. The house was clean and very charming and decorated with antiques that matched the decor. We have already discussed using her for our next trip to Austin.
Great place to stay. Very homey, within walking distance to 6th street or under $6 to Uber there. Loved the local beer left in the fridge (2/ea) for us, and all the Texas themed books. RG was so helpful and really appreciated all the helpful tips left for us including a personal note. Would stay there again and again
This cozy cottage is located in a tranquil and very quiet neighborhood. A healthy rosemary bush welcomes you with fragrance at the front gate. All of the amenities are provided as promised. WiFi/Internet worked well and very fast, which was important to me. Central cooling/heating worked brilliantly and made the house very comfortable. The owner/hostess Regina was a fount of information and enormously helpful. I needed to order a few things to bring back with me to my home in Mexico, and she cheerfully obliged to receive them for me. If you don't have a car, be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk (depending on how fast you walk!) to the center where the capitol building and other sites are located.
The perfect place to stay in Austin! The location was suberb—a short walk to downtown, but right in the middle of the fun and exciting East Side neighborhood. And I loved sipping local Texas beer on the back patio. (It was buggy, but G left some insect repellent.)
wow amazing little house. very nice decor and style. close to downtown and also plenty of interesting things in austin.
Nice little place in a great neighborhood. I couldn't stay long but it had everything I needed plus a local beer in the fridge. Walkable to downtown; East Austin restaurants and bars; bikeshare.
We've been Austinites for a combined total of too embarrassing to say, but we were both born here. We love our town and we're proud of our little house. We both work in the liberal arts--Julia's a graphic designer, and Gina is an editor. We have a house a couple of miles from G's House so we're nearby and here if you need us. Gina speaks Spanish and we love visitors from all over. We look forward to meeting you!
