The space

This quaint 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom historic cottage is only 100 yards from the ocean and near the intercoastal waterway. With ample decks (20' x 30' connected to 20' x 10') surrounding it, this cottage has 6000 sq. ft. of private property. The interior has old southern heartwood pine on the walls. It was part of a group of houses built in the 1930's in this area of Vilano Beach. Originally a fishing village, the area was constructed by an aviator named Reiss, a colleague of Charles Lindbergh and founder of the St. Augustine airport. Used by military families during WWII (a German spy occupied one of these cottages), it later became a motel called the Pagoda.
Enjoy the sounds of gentle breezes blowing in the palm trees outside your window, and the surf rolling up on the beach. You'll love the natural beauty of the still-unspoiled area of North Florida. You can walk along a peaceful, uncrowded beach and just relax, or pick one of the many activities nearby: para sailing, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, boating, cycling, bird-watching, hiking or golf. St. Augustine is only two miles away, Jacksonville 45 minutes away, and Orlando is a two-hour drive.
Vilano Center is 2 blocks away, which has been restored to its original Art Deco style. There is a major grocery store, several restaurants and a fishing pier. There are regular concerts at the pavilion.
Guana State Park is 8 miles north of us on A1A. The old town is 2 miles away, and has retained its original architecture from the 1600s. There are many fine galleries, and an art walk the first Friday evening of each month. There is a large farmer's market on Sat. morning on St. Augustine Beach.
National Geographic selected St. Augustine as one of the most beautiful cities during the holidays when there are a million lights illuminating the city beginning Nov. 17 through Jan. 31.

My fiancé and I stayed here while we celebrated a friend's birthday party at a beach nearby. The place was clean and in order. It had everything we needed. It wasn't far from any of the action at all. And it features private parking which is a plus because parking on the street i…

We had a great stay at this place! Very short walk to the beach, easy for kids also. The location on the beach is perfect, not crowded at all and we went in the middle of summer. We mainly ate our own food, so the use of the cookware, stove/oven, and the grill outside was great! …

The cottage was very well appointed, cozy and perfect for my wife and two very small children (2 year old and 11months old). The cottage was really nicely decorated and very comfortable- it was fenced in, private and included a very large yard, hammocks in shade and surrounded wi…

I'm an artist, originally from Boston, organic gardener, and believe in sustainable living. We have 20 chickens that lay beautiful eggs! Also have a cottage for rent in St. Augustine, FL where we lived for 3 years.
