This roomy 1BR/1BA flat is located just across the street from Golden Gate Park, with views into the park. It has a kitchen, living room, and dining room, with all the amenities to let you prepare your own meals. We also allow dogs!
It is very close to all the museums in the park - less than a 10 minute bus ride to the De Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences, and the bus stop is half a block from the flat. If you are traveling with a dog, there is a great dog park just a few minutes walk from the flat. If you are a foodie, delicious authentic Asian restaurants (Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese) and a shopping street with one of the last neighborhood theatres are only 2 blocks away. We are about 10 short blocks away from Ocean Beach, so this is a great location if you like swimming, surfing, or just long walks on the beach. If you want to enjoy a romantic dinner by the beach, the Beach Chalet Brewery is just a 5 minute drive or a 7 minute bus ride, and the Cliff House is just a 3 minute drive or 13 minute bus ride. If you like outdoor activities, you will enjoy walking through Lands End which is also close to our flat. Runners and walkers will love the extensive running trails throughout the park, and there is the largest frisbee golf course west of Sacramento just a 5 minute walk away. The Golden Gate Park Senior Center is right across the street, and free Tai Chi classes meet each weekend morning at Spreckels Lake, just one block from the flat. Lots of street parking nearby.
There is a second bedroom which is off limits (it is used for storage)
The owners live upstairs, and are usually around if you have any questions.
The outer Richmond is a fabulous quiet neighborhood that adjoins Golden Gate Park. Two blocks away is the historic Balboa Theatre along with a fabulous shopping street. No need for a car if you are staying here, you can easily get around by walking or by bus. It is very safe, and just a few minutes walk or bus ride from Ocean Beach, Lands End, and other San Francisco landmarks.
The #5 bus stops at the corner of the block, and the #18 and #31 buses are 2 blocks away. The #38 bus is 4 blocks away. Parking is almost always available on the street.
It is about a $45 cabride from SFO, or less if you take the Super Shuttle.
There is a locked front gate, so you can leave bicycles, leashes, etc. in the entrance area, and feel comfortable that they will be reasonably safe. This is a 2 unit building, and the owners family lives upstairs, so there aren't any other people coming in and out of the building.
If you plan to stay a week or longer, we allow use of the in-house washer and dryer if you get permission of the owner (to make sure that you don't have conflicting wash days).

Very proper and uncomplicated accommodation at one of the best spots in San Francisco. It's right next to the GGP and the Ocean. There's a street two blocks up called Balboa Street, which is like a little village center. There's an old cinema, bars, a bank, a church, groceries, restaurants.. Lots of street parking. Hosts are very accommodating. If you need the living room as an additional sleeping space, you might want to have someone sleep there who isn't too sensitive to street noise, the living room goes out to Fulton Street. Anyways, I'd definitely go back.
We are very familiar with San Francisco and David And Noriko's place was ideal for us. Golden Gate Park was right across the street, and we could visit there whenever with our grandsons to watch the little boats on Spreckels Lake or see the Bison or the horses at the Polo Grounds. We do not like being right in the tourist area, yet we could hop on the #5L bus, which stopped right outside our door and take that to Van Ness/McAllister stop right to the Symphony Hall/City Hall area and then take the 47 down to Fisherman's Wharf if we so chose. There is a Safeway just 12 blocks away and an easy ride on the #5. The Pacific Ocean is also that way. If we wanted to visit the museums at he other end of the park, we could ride the 5 to them easily on Fulton. Great restaurants are on Balboa, just two blocks up and so is one of the city's old movie theaters. The place was roomy and we were able to have our grandsons spend the night with us on two occasions. We were interested in space and cleanliness and David and Noroko's place provided both. The stove and refrigerator were very clean. If you are looking for deluxe with a television, there is not one, but we did not care. We both had our ipods with us and we were fine with that. There was easy internet service and we were there to visit not watch television in a hotel room. We like getting up and having our own place and doing our own thing and exploring a city and that's why we love the airbnb experience. When we had cell phone problems, David helped us out with the use of their land phone in case of an emergency, and that was great. We have stayed in 3 airbnb places in the city and this was by far the roomiest and the best price listing. Many people miss Clement and Geary in the neat part of the city and see only what the tourist see. Outter Richmond and Inner are two great areas, which should be explored, and you can if you stay at David and Noriko's.
Our stay at the apartment across from Golden Gate Park was fantastic. David was a great host, helpful and polite but not intrusive. Perfect location, easy access to the city, lots of space for our large family and no TV was a blessing in disguise as the kids spent more time exploring the wonderful city of San Francisco than inside. Living opposite the Golden Gate Park was an added bonus, beautiful views for early morning jogs and plenty of places for the kids to explore.
My wife, brother, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Sifry family's rented apartment. David was particularly helpful in suggestions about local travel and a good vegetarian restaurant nearby. His kind, interested manner gave us confidence. The apartment itself is very spacious, and parking on the street presents no real problem. The only difficulty we experienced was with the WIFI connection, which turned out to be problematic for anyone using a computer. I heartily recommend this site for all visitors to San Francisco; the location itself was ideal.
My wife, brother, and I (all senior citizens) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in David Sifry's apartment. The location was fine, the rooms were spacious, and the host was very helpful.with various replies to my questions.
This was a fantastic place to stay in SF. The location is great--a reasonable walk to the beach, GG park is right across the street and the Richmond district where it's located had great coffee shops and some good restaurants close by. If you're looking for a good playground there was a beautiful one 2 blocks away that was brand new. David was extremely accommodating, and available--although we didn't need any help as the house was in great shape and perfect for our needs. Parking was a little tricky, but certainly within reason for SF.
David's apartment is a perfect place to stay in San Francisco. Location is great, bus no 5. takes you to the downtown (bus stop is in front of the house). The apartment is big (we were 4), comfortable and equipped with all the necessary things. David and Noriko were really helpful before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend!
What a fantastic location this property is in, directly opposite the Golden Gate Park and the lake with believe it or not terrapins swimming around.
Parking is on street, but reasonably easy to find and free! The only watch out is if the street cleaning is happening or not. We used public transport mainly during our stay and it works extremely well (if not a little bumpy).
The neighbourhood feels safe to walk around at night and well lit. There is a Safeway at the end of the road (beach end) if you need anything for the kitchen and restaurants are never too far away.
The property itself is very spacious with a Master Bedroom, Bathroom (shower and bath included), Kitchen, large Living Room which follows through to another Dining Room type space. Basically you have enough room to swing a whole party worth of cats.
All the rooms are well equipped and in good condition. If anything there is a little too much space in some rooms, especially in the Living Room, but this is all down to personal preference, if you are not a fan of having lots of personal items around you then you will feel comfortable here. There is a nice surprise for Star Wars fans in the Living Room you won't want to miss.
If you need anything or even if you just wish to be left alone David and his partner Noriko (who live upstairs in a separate flat) are happy to oblige, they were very respectful of our space and helpful when we had questions. Plus anyone who is a fan of Marmite gets a big tick from us.
Overall the property does more than what it says on the tin and we felt very happy and safe staying here and we would highly recommend you drop David and family an email to see when you can stay next.
Oh and if you flew in, why not pick up something from your flight for their son, his a big fan of planes and will appreciate it. :-)
The apartment is huge and comfortable. Maybe it needs a furniture refresh but for us was perfect. It is a good spot if you travel with car because it is very easy to find a parking spot. Also beautiful to have the park just crossing the street! I would definitely stay again in David's apartment!
The stay was quite fine, we were welcomed by davids wife and she was really nice to us. We all felt comfortable. The flat had enough space for all 4 of us. The neighbourhood is good too and everything nessesary is near around.
We can say it was a great time in san francisco. Thanks to our hosts. :)
