Our cozy one bedroom apartment is located right on Mississippi Ave, with multiple coffee shops, restaurants, and venues at your doorstep. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, hardwood floors, and roof access. It is a 5 minute drive, or 10 minute bus-ride to downtown Portland!

The Space

The front entrance to the apartment takes you directly into the living room. There is a long leather couch along the right-hand wall, and a hanging flatscreen TV and desk on the left-hand side.

The room on the right is the kitchen, which is fully stocked with utensils, appliances, and a large pantry. The room on the left is the bedroom, with a queen-size bed (with fresh linen and comforter), closet space, and dresser space. A bike is also docked in the room, which you can feel free to use. Also, the bathroom is located inside the bedroom, with a claw-foot tub and fresh towels.

You can step out through the windows in the living room onto a small patio. On the other side of the divider is a roof that looks onto the bustling Mississippi Avenue.

Guest Access

A coin-operated washer and dryer are located in the hallway of the building. In the rear of the building there is a community patio with a picnic table and chairs.

Interaction with Guests

Makeda and I would love to meet you as we are leaving the apartment. Of course, that's not always possible, so we can remotely buzz you in by cell phone, and leave the keys for you at the front door.

The Neighborhood

Mississippi Avenue is one of the most lively streets in Portland. It is atop a plateau on the east side, allowing you to see the skyscrapers of downtown.

Upon leaving the front door, there are multiple options for coffee, tea, and quick bites to eat. Three blocks away, there is a lot with several gourmet food carts. Across the street is one of the best (and busiest) breakfast spots in town. There is great nightlife on this street as well, with Mississippi Studios and a wide range of bars. It should also be noted that a lot of the action on the street is contained in the various venues, so you can easily have a peaceful evening out on this street.

Getting around

By Car: Within 1/4 mile, there are entrances to both I-5 and I-405 (Freemont Bridge). It takes under 5 minutes to get to downtown Portland by car.

By Bus: One block away is the 4 Bus, which will take you directly to downtown Portland. It also stops at the Rose Quarter, where you can transfer to various MAX lines (the Red Line will take you directly to/from PDX airport).

By Bike: About 5 blocks away are the Vancouver/Williams thoroughfares, which are two of the most bike-friendly commuter streets in town. They are hubs to other bike-friendly routes, including one directly to Downtown Portland.

  • This is definitely a cozy place on Mississippi! Right in the heart of the Mississippi Arts district in North Portland. If you're familiar with the are then you know there aren't many hotel options. I didn't meet the hosts personally but the check in/out experience was a breeze. Jason was available if needed and easy to get in touch with. The apartment itself is great. It has everything you could possibly need and more. This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Jason and Makeda!

  • My fiancee and I stayed at Jason's place for a couple nights in Portland. We had a really lovely time. The space is clean, well-kept, and with great decoration to boot (really enjoyed the Flammarion woodcut poster). It's also in a really hip, vibrant neighborhood with easy access to other parts of the city. In short, this is a great place to check out when you're visiting PDX.

  • Although we never formally met them, Jason and Makeda were excellent hosts! Before arrival Jason sent my boyfriend and I some information about how to get to the apartment and some things to know before arriving. Getting in was easy and the apartment exceeded our expectations. It really felt like our home away from home. He provided all of the necessary things and extras that made our trip that much nicer. The area that the apartment is in is definitely a neat area to explore with shops and stores. Jason told us about a little breakfast-brunch-lunch place called Gravy, just across the street from the apartment, and we are so happy we tried it! The bus stop is just a short walk away which takes you directly to downtown in about ten minutes and many other places around Portland. Having a W/D just down the hall from the unit made life a whole lot easier during our stay as well!

Overall we give our experience with Jason and the Cozy Apartment five stars and hope that we are able to stay again.

    Thanks again, Jason!

  • Jason's apartment is charming and incredibly well-situated for a tourist in Portland. I spent a day of my trip just exploring his neighborhood!

Jason was out of town so we did not meet in person, but we was very responsive and well-spoken in writing. I felt right at home!
