Welcome to villa Bella Vista where the sky meets the ocean! Enjoy the view of the Pacific with its gorgeous sunset and our private virgin jungle with monkeys, variety of birds and other wildlife. It is an ideal spot for those who are looking for tranquil vacation in a beautiful nature setting.
Our villa is a perfect place for the honeymoon or any other romantic vacation.
The villa is surrounded by 2 acres of gorgeous tropical garden. The 670 meter elevation assures warm days and comfortable nights without the need for air conditioning. We sleep with open windows and doors, inviting fresh mountain air to freely enter our rooms. The house has a large number of spacious social areas, both inside and outside, and allows privacy for people who require it. Exercise room with the fitness equipment is also available.
Unfortunately, house is not suitable for the children under the age of 10.
We have two friendly dogs and three cats living at the property. You are welcome to play with them (and if you don't - the villa is big enough and they won't bother you :)
To the West, the nearby coastal town of Dominical is a 20 minute drive down the mountain. It is a surfer's paradise with rustic charm, offering world-class surfing great for both advanced and beginner surfers alike, Spanish and yoga classes as well as shopping and restaurants. Up and down the coastline there are many other beautiful, secluded beaches.
And to the East, the regional capital of San Isidro Del General is a 20 minute drive further up the mountain, a major city with shopping, restaurants, medical/dental facilities, Spanish and Latin Dance schools with very affordable prices, and the largest farmers market in Costa Rica offering organic produce, fish, meat etc.
Nearby: less then 5 min by car there is a cute little restaurant with the fresh local food and friendly people. Beautiful waterfall is accessible by horseback riding – really fun day adventure. From Dominical you can go on rafting trips, kayak, boat and canopy tours and offshore fishing. Boat trip to Caño Island is wonderful if you like snorkeling or scuba diving.
We are offering a secluded apartment on the first floor of the villa with a walkout to the pool and its own entrance from the garden. The apartment has a spacious bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. It features queen size bed, dining table with the chairs, coffee table with armchairs and TV. (We also have another private bedroom with its own bathroom - if you are interested please inquire about availability and pricing)
Interaction with Guests
We live in the villa all year and like to meet our guests and make sure they are comfortable.
Our villa is located in the secluded spot and no public transport is available at the doorstep. It is three hours drive from the airport and 25 min to the beach. We recommend to rent a car in San Jose to really enjoy what our neighborhood has to offer.
We expect our guests arrive between 1 pm and 9pm. No late night arrival please!
We have no smoking policy.
After spending three nights with Natalya and Victor, I can wholeheartedly agree with everything positive mentioned in other reviews- gorgeous and tranquil home, well-appointed and spacious apartment, solid location, and welcoming hosts. Our stay was exactly the kind of experience one seeks from Air BnB. If you are looking to for a comfortable accommodation in a rustic setting near some of Costa Rica's best Pacific beaches, then look no further.
A few tips...
+ rental car is required (4x4 is highly recommended for gringo peace of mind!)
+ finding the house can be a bit challenging (even with Natalya's directions) as there are no street signs or addresses, and the many, many curves of route 243 look alike. The left turn into Alfombra (basically the neighborhood in which house is located) is demarcated by a billboard depicting an ant eater-type animal, and a giant black hand-made sign that says "Don't throw trash here". Next you'll continue down a very steep, pot-holed rocky road for what feels like too long, you'll pass a building advertising Spanish lessons on the right, then you'll come to the beige gate of "La Bella Vista"
+ ask for directions to La Playa Linda- was really worth a trip
+ instead of taking the $70 horseback ride to the waterfalls, opt for the $8 hike. For directions, stop at one of the big fruit stands near the horseback entrance
+ Dominical and Uvita are very different and are both musts
+ the roads nearby are very hilly with no shoulder, so don't anticipate jogging as I did haha
We have been in Costa Rica over a week and had the experience of staying at Natalya's as our first stop for three nights. Words cannot do justice to Natalya and Victor’s home or hospitality – everything about this listing is beyond the 5-star rating that you are able to provide. The property is a botanical garden and your room is enveloped in it. You have a lovely studio apartment that is immaculate, comfortable and has everything you need -- we inquired ahead of time about a french press for our coffee and she had one so we had no need to bring ours along. When we arrived there were fresh flowers from her garden within the apartment. The swimming pool is just steps away and is so wonderful and refreshing; from here and elsewhere on the property you have a spectacular view of the Pacific and beautiful sunsets. We didn't take full advantage of the pool during the day as we went off on several day trips but it is certainly welcoming upon your return. If we were to do redo this trip I would leave Natalya’s to the end to relax, especially if you plan on doing a lot of activities during your stay in Costa Rica. This is the perfect location to get away from it all yet you are not very far off the main road. The early mornings were spent in one of many seating areas (we chose below the pool) to watch the birds that visited her plants or parrots and Toucans further off in the trees. The property also has a forest with a walking path through it. We walked this path on our own but Natalya would be a great guide as I think we may have missed some things. The location is handy to the beaches and activities in Dominical which is a 30-minute drive away. Natalya can provide information on day trips from her location that is central to the two main hi-ways that extend south from San Jose. We did this drive on the busiest weekend of the year with no problems. The bonus of her location (as opposed to being closer to the Pacific) is that you return to a comfortable place where no AC is necessary and you have a wonderful sleep and can truly experience Costa Rica at night. We often sought out Sasha, one of her cats, and her two dogs Jenny and Daisy -- all lovely. If you aren’t interested in animals, you will probably not see or hear them. There is a restaurant not far from the entrance off the main road to their location that we did not get to try as it was closed for the holiday but it would be handy if you decided to go out to eat. If we had not made reservations elsewhere and there weren’t new guests arriving, we would have stayed here longer. Hopefully, life will provide the opportunity to return.
We had a great time at Victor and Natalya's Villa. We visited in late March. The Villa itself was spacious, beautiful and clean. The kitchen came stocked with all the necessary cooking essentials. Natalya and Victor were extremely gracious and welcoming hosts that helped us plan and navigate activities throughout our stay. All of the suggested activities were well worth our time. We also enjoyed the company of their pets, in particular their two dogs (two very sweet animals indeed). We would highly recommend the Villa and would visit again.
Victor and Natalya's villa was absolutely beautiful, and my wife and I had a wonderful time! Victor was an excellent and attentive host--providing us with recommendations, beach supplies, even a welcome gin & tonic. The villa itself was spectacular: set up in the hills, with a large garden, tool, and great views. The garden suite was lovely as well: roomy, in great condition, and with a full kitchen (which we used every night). The villa is about 30 minutes from the beach, the last 5 of which are down an extremely rough dirt road; a 4x4 is a must, and even so, be prepared for a rough drive. If you're heading to Dominical and want a place to get away from it all--and meet a pair of very friendly dogs (Jackie and Daisy)--we highly recommend Victor and Natalya's home.
We stayed at Natalya and Victor's property for seven nights in February at the end of our vacation in CR. The location was exactly what I was looking for: quiet, secluded and peaceful yet only a short drive to beautiful beaches, shopping (take in the nearby markets), restaurants, etc. Located in the hills above Dominical, the mountain and ocean views are spectacular, especially the sunsets. The elevation also means you have pleasantly warm temperatures all day long, but can escape the high heat and humidity of the coast. Sleeping at night was very comfortable without a/c and there were no mosquitoes at any time (at least when we were there).
The property itself is amazing, set in the forest and surrounded by the beauty of Costa Rica. The gardens are extensive, with dozens of varieties of plants and trees to admire. Short walks from the house will also take you into primary forest or past small farms and pastures. The pool and pool deck (more views!) are beautiful- spent many hours there relaxing! The rancho is a great feature (even better views!) and is set up with tables and chairs for lounging as well as a great bbq. Try sitting out there at night with the sounds of the forest surrounding you, it's amazing.
The apartment was exactly as described. It is very comfortable- great bed!- and beautifully decorated. Really liked the high ceilings and woodwork. They have done a great job in setting it up with everything you could possibly need, from lots of big towels to a fully set-up and supplied kitchen and bathroom. Having the kitchen gave us the flexibility to buy delicious local fruit, vegetables and fish and prepare our own meals when we wanted. Many basic food staples were provided making meal prep easy.
The entire property (grounds and living area), was immaculately clean and well-kept.
We really enjoyed spending time with Natalya and Victor. They are genuinely nice people and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to ensure that we had a great time. Excellent hosts! They gave us lots of suggestions of things to see and do that we wouldn't have found or heard of otherwise, and had good local info. Staying with them was a highlight of our trip, I only wish it could have been longer. I highly recommend that you stay with them if you are visiting the Dominical area.
There are not enough stars in the sky to rate Natalya and Victor's Villa. The altitude of the Villa gives you awesome views and a climate with no climate. Never hot, never cold. Just perfect. What other reviews have not mentioned is the absolute quality of the apartment. Very nice dishes, quality glassware, a super comfortable bed and pillows and great linens. Great water pressure in the shower with hot water, not to forget Biolandia shampoo and conditioner. Natalya even provided Egyptian Cotton beach towels! They let us use their cooler (Very handy for the beach), boogie boards and beach chairs. Fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, including cleaning products, sugar, oil and the basic staples and a welcome gift of fresh fruit and a bottle of wine. Really all you have to bring is your toothbrush!
We celebrated New Year's Eve and Ukrainian Orthodox Christmas Eve with Victor and Natalya along with other guests. A fabulous meal consisting of 12 different foods on the table, including "Kutia" the ritual food which was prepared from cooked rice and raisins and special syrup containing diluted honey. Victor and Natalya shared their traditions with us and our first toast was for our loved ones that were not present or who have left us. Also an extra chair and table setting were at the table for any passerby who would be in need. The atmosphere was topped of by Victor playing traditional Ukrainian and Russian Accordion music.
And all this while overlooking the mountains leading to the Pacific Ocean with great sunset views! I could go one forever and speak of the gardens, the flowering "Reina de la Noche" flowers, our friend the howler monkey who let us know it was sunrise, the hummingbirds or the nightly serenade of the crickets and the jungle that beats any meditation tape.
The only thing we missed were our dogs and here again, we had the pleasure of having Jackie and Daisy visit us from time to time. Two gentle giants who enjoy a good back massage. Lastly, I will not forget our little Persian cat friend Sasha, showing up discreetly and asking for a little attention!
I also want to mention Roxanna, Natalya's helper who proposed to teach me some Costa Rican cuisine. Unfortunately, we ran out of time... but it is only "partie remise"!
The bond and love between Natalya and Victor is contagious and adds to this perfect romantic getaway. Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this extraordinary villa.
Retired physicist, teacher and computer programmer. I am now focused on learning Spanish, salsa dancing and growing my 2 acre garden. I love animals - we have 3 persian cats (that moved to Costa Rica from Canada) and 2 big dogs (who are Tica but respond to commands in English and Ukrainian) - you will meet them if you stay in our apartment!
