The Tree House is set on a small hill in the tree tops, requiring being able to climb multiple steps for access through the bush. At the top you receive stunning views of the surrounding forest. This eco house generates its own electricity and is designed to capture the sun. It is a great base to do the Tongariro Crossing from.

The space
Immerse yourself in The Tree House set in a romantic and tranquil bush setting.
You can laze upon the deck, perched high above the sparkling waters of the Tepure trout stream, listen to the bird song in the magnificent native forest trees below, or gaze across to the volcanoes of the Central Plateau in the Dual World Heritage Tongariro National Park.
The cabin delights in excitement, offering seclusion and providing inspiration from its design and elevated bush setting.
The Tree House generates its own electricity, sourcing energy from the wind and sun. This is in keeping with the self-sufficient philosophy of its owners. The wood stove provides heating as well as cooking, adding to the romance. Gas is used for a cook-top, refrigerator and water heating.

It is only 6 minutes’ drive to the nearest cafe and bar; 15 from the world-famous and iconic Chateau Tongariro and 20 from the Whakapapa ski field and Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Because of its rural aspect, the pressures of urban life are long forgotten.
An occasional passing train, far below as it approaches The Raurimu Spiral, is like watching a model railway; a second view shows the same train nearing the top of The Spiral as it heads south to Wellington. These views never fail to fascinate even those who normally have no interest in trains.
The cabin delights in excitement, offering seclusion and providing inspiration from its design and elevated bush setting. It sleeps five.

Stay in The Tree House and you will never want to leave.

Lives in Raurimu, New Zealand
We bought this land in 1998 when it was just a few paddocks and a hay barn. Together we have built our house and accommodation into what it is today. We have a few cows and 150 sheep grazing our land. Ewan mostly manages the accomodation while Tim tends to the animals. We are both enthusiastic gardeners and have enjoyed landscaping and maintaining the surrounding grounds. We enjoy meeting people from around the world, and sharing our little patch of paradise.
