The Space

Fantastic Studio/Cottage Apartment in the Historic Waterfront Neighborhood of Hercules. There is a private entrance, full kitchen, wifi, HDTV, full bath, and all the amenities of home. We offer a well appointed, comfy and roomy retreat. Nestled in a friendly and scenic bayside community, with easy freeway access (less than a mile from I-80 and Highway 4).

We are centrally located to many Bay Area attractions and destinations: Just half an hour's drive to San Francisco; less than 20 minutes drive to Berkeley, UC Berkeley, and Solano Avenue restaurants; 25 minutes from Oakland's Jack London Square and the new Uptown District; half an hour to Sausalito and Muir Woods; 15 minutes to Six Flags theme park in Vallejo; about 25 miles to downtown Napa and the wine country.

Nearby public transportation takes you to BART, and from Monday through Friday, there is non-stop LYNX bus service to downtown San Francisco. Pharmacy, shops and all manner of restaurants are all just over a mile away. For groceries, Trader Joe's in Pinole is 3 miles down the road.

Why drive to dinner? A friendly neighborhood restaurant and pub is a few steps away from the Studio. Small shops and a Saturday Farmer's Market are located at Historic Old Town Pinole, walking distance via a lovely waterfront trail.

After a long day of sight seeing in San Francisco or wine tasting in Napa, you can retire to our cozy studio and rest up for the next day's adventures. We offer clean and comfortable accommodations that are a world apart from "cookie cutter" motels and hotels; the apartment is tastefully decorated featuring art from local artists. We provide a small library stocked with an assortment of books, DVDs, and CDs, should you choose to just stay in and relax.

Feel free to enjoy our private garden and take in the sounds of nature, or go for a leisurely stroll along Railroad Avenue to capture stunning views of San Pablo Bay with Marin and Mount Tamalpais in the distance, gorgeous sunsets and a refreshing bay breeze. Walking and biking trails abound in this scenic part of the Bay Area; the Bay Trail is just a few steps away.

If you are visiting friends and family in the area, you already know there are limited lodging options in Hercules and its neighboring towns. This is a great way to be close, but have your own 'space" too.

Business professionals will also appreciate our proximity to local businesses while enjoying the comforts of a home setting.

This sunny and inviting private studio has its own alleyway entrance. It is a completely separate, detached second story unit, adjacent to our house. It is fully equipped with all the kitchen necessities. It has a full size bathroom with shower over tub, queen size bed, full size refrigerator, microwave, oven and stove.

For entertainment, there is a flat screen HDTV television with Roku video streaming, Blu-Ray DVD player, and for music lovers we provide a fantastic, audiophile grade GLOW tube stereo system ((email hidden) or plug in your iPhone or other portable device!) … compliments of (website hidden)

Of course free high speed wi-fi access for your laptop or iPad. We provide an iPhone charging station as well.

If you don't want to cook or go far for dining, the charming Powder Keg Pub is literally right around the corner on Railroad Avenue, featuring great burgers, sandwiches, seafood, oysters, weekend brunch, (email hidden)ere are a number of good Chinese, Thai, Italian and other local restaurants that deliver, if you want take out. The town of Crockett's famed Dead Fish restaurant is only minutes away, and Pinole's popular Pear Street Bistro is just down the road.

While there are no water views from the studio/cottage (the partial water view is blocked by trees) there are spectacular views of San Pablo Bay around the corner from Railroad Avenue or any of the several hiking trails along the Bay. From the studio/cottage you may hear trains rolling by from the distance, as Union Pacific and Amtrak trains run all along the bay from Oakland to Sacramento.

Our deck is quiet and peaceful. Please make yourself at home. Several friendly outdoor cats will often be seen lazing about in our garden. Because we are so close to the San Pablo Bay, we enjoy a moderate climate and most homeowners in this bayside community do not have air conditioning, The apartment has a quiet ceiling fan to provide breeze on warm days and nights. The studio has central heating.

  • Staying at Lita's Cottage was one of my favorite airbnb experiences to date. It was very clean and decorated nicely and had a warm, homey feel. The bed is delightful-it was difficult to get up in the mornings! Lita was an excellent host, and was always available in the event that we needed anything. Her family was very sweet, even the two kitties we met! I highly recommend Lita's Cottage. I would love to stay again sometime soon!

  • Nice place in a good neighborhood. Clean and bright. Very nice bed and towels. Good wifi. Good places to eat (breakfast, lunch and dinner) nearby in Pinole and Hercules. Prompt and thorough communication by Lita.

  • We had a great experience staying at Lita's cottage. The place was very clean, comfortable and cute looking. All the amenities were exactly as they were listed. The sound system was amazing.
We were so pleased to see beautiful pictures on the walls. And we liked the whole style of the cottage. The area around was very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend this place.
Note: You can hear a sound of the train horn at night time.

  • Our stay at the cottage was relaxing and very comfortable. The cottage is tidy and well maintained. Our stay felt like a very efficiently organized hotel/B&B experience. We enjoyed having access to the roku device in the living room area, which we used a lot. Hercules' small pub (the Powder Keg) is a few minutes away, and it was great to sit there with a drink after a day of driving around the San Pablo Bay and Berkeley. Trader Joe's is a short drive away as well. If you are passing through the area, I'd strongly recommend the cottage.

  • I liked my previous stay so much I came back again. This is a beautiful and quiet neighborhood on the bay. Lita included a tub of treats; an unexpected touch of hospitality. The bed is comfy and the room is immaculate. Wifi is solid and the TV has digital cable and Netflix included.

  • The cottage was amazing. The most adorable, clean, and luxurious airbnb, especially for the Price. It's rare at time to find a place that understands some do not want extra involvement, just "call me if you need anything" is (website hidden) the hotel market this place can easily fetch for much more. And felt like one! M first choice for wine touring!

  • This studio apartment is on the second-story of a detached garage in an upscale, newer community of tree-lined streets. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, evidenced by people walking dogs and strollers. The unit is well-furnished, has a comfy bed and is immaculately (website hidden)-Rad, the area's largest employer is only .7 miles away. Staying here is a completely different experience (which I wanted) from the travellers' bustling world of Motels, parking lots, and burgers-on-the-corner. The gift basket was an unexpected and professional touch. Netflix and strong wi-fi are included. I will stay here again.

  • Lita was very helpful and responded to all my inquiries very quickly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cottage was better than we expected. The neighborhood was cute and very easy to find. It made traveling to Sonoma/Napa very easy as well as downtown SF. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It was so nice to have kitchen utensils to make our own food from the TJ's down the road. We also loved the towels -so soft. Thanks for making our trip wonderful!

  • We recently stayed at the cottage in Hercules for a week and had a great experience! Lita has created a cozy space that felt like home. She even stocked the fridge with bagels and cream cheese and left an assortment of granola bars and fruit on the table for us! The neighborhood was really quiet and the pub down the street was excellent. We would definitely stay there again!

I have lived in the Bay Area almost all my life. My husband and I operate and manage the family audio business, Glow Audio. My husband is also a lawyer, 20+ years and counting. We enjoy taking our boys to San Francisco and other parts of the Bay Area to explore the different neighborhoods. Even though we have lived here for many years, we always find areas we haven't yet discovered. We are huge fans of our sports teams: Giants, 49ers, A's, Raiders, and Warriors. We welcome you to our home.
