This guest was SO difficult when not impossible to satisfy..
From the very beginning, she asked for a discount, we happily granted her over 500USD LESS than the actual price, a more than CHUNKY discount, a big effort for us, right at the peak of High Season -
However we mentioned that the conditions Re change of sheets, cleaning were slightly different; she agreed.
Yet she kept asking for more: having a free taxi ride from the airport. Having a lower price and negociating every cent on the scooter rentals..
We feel distressed that she calls our house “run down”! Maybe she is used to California modern places…?
The fact is that we DO take great care of our space, with constant maintenance because yes, Bali IS tropical AND humid, things get easily damaged.
Before her check in:
We had a wood worker coming FULL TIME (she mentioned she had a toddler and BECAUSE of that we invested time, energy AND money):
- he installed a new safety barrier in the lounge so as to prevent any accident
- he created two extra safety gates,
- wooden items repaired and varnished etc
- we also filled in a box with toys, books, pencils for the child
We had 2 other workers as well: walls have been repainted,
bathroom window frames and shelves redone.
- The HOUSE KEEPERS took to the Laundry ALL bed and home linen,
INCLUDING all 3 mosquito nets, 26 curtains, towels, carpets, etc
Maybe the mosquito net was a bit yellowish but NOT dirty, this is NOT true, sorry.
More demands: She asked us to find a baby-sitter, full time, again at a very low salary.
We do quite a bit of research cause most are already taken in High Season, we discarded some we found too young, sent her 3-4 names and all data,
she never contacted them ..! is this a polite attitude?
Our quotes are NOT overpriced: they follow AIRBNB seasonal suggestions, this house can sleep 6 people, it is within walking distance of Ubud Royal Palace…
Yet every word is critical and negative: ants? When people leave plates with food ,
that attracts them of course! So critical, Including “loud sounds of the creatures of the jungle”..!
What to do?
Such reviews damage our small family business. We are Balinese, maybe not as educated as this lady, but we welcome foreigners with an open heart, and they are happy and satisfied here:
We had an American couple who staid for ONE YEAR, always with a smile, kind words and appreciation.
Maybe she could meet them and learn something…? ;>)
