Interaction with Guests
We are a busy family with 2 small boys 9 and 10. I am certainly there to answer questions and help with any island info they need. My husband is 4th generation, born and raised here so we know the island pretty well. We are Happy to help with anything guests need. My children usually sleep in and we are not coffee drinkers, but there is a place a few minutes away Something Natural or walk into town and there are PLENTY of places. We try to meet all our guests, but we work and people on vacation here are usually not home much either so it can be tricky, but I think we have gotten to know all our guests except for two. You can certainly text me at any time with questions or concerns, I am here to help.
It is one of the most sought after streets in town, close walk to Steps Beach (a hidden gem) + other beaches in town, bike path, bus route, town and your morning walk/jog will never be dull with all the beautiful homes to look at on the Cliff.
Yes, there is a bus shuttle that will take you pretty much anywhere or taxis are readily available, but more expensive. Most people rent or bring bikes.
Other Things to Note
We do rent the entire house out for 2 weeks per summer at 30K per week. WE have a 3 nt min over weekends during peak season, but the site does not allow you to be that specific.
I would just expect them to be respectful and use their own good judgement- if you think you probably should not do something, then that is probably a good gut instinct. I have been in the hospitality and house rental business a long time, but never in a situation like this so it is hard to say. If you like to sleep in just let us know so we can be extra quiet, but typically it is pretty quiet here. From time to time we may have friends over, but that I cannot predict when and we try not to disturb anyone, but usually our guests are out since there is so much going on here.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Debbie's house over Labor Day weekend. The house was very clean, comfortable, and as-described. Debbie and her family were wonderful hosts; their suggestions for food and activities were all great. The house is a short walk from the ferry, the beach, and the town. Debbie was there to greet us when we arrived and she was available throughout our stay if we needed anything. Just a reminder, the room a basement apartment and while it's quiet and comfortable with a seperate entrance, it is a part of the main house and the family does stay on the premise. This didn't bother us, especially since we were out most of the time...but just FYI for future guests. We hope to visit Nantucket again and we would definitely recommend Debbie's house for anyone who is consisdering a visit to Nantucket!
Debbie is a great host. Her suggestions regarding Nantucket restaurants and activities were helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. Debbie's home is near the center of the city and you can walk to most of the points of interest.
The pictures don't do the room justice, it's bigger than it looks, and is very comfortable. We had a fabulous stay; Debbie made us feel very welcome, and offered many tips to help us enjoy our stay. I can't wait to return next year.
Debbie and her family were very friendly and helpful hosts. They met us at the apartment when we arrived (even though we were a day later than expected) and had lots of tips to enjoy the island. They even let us bring our sweet dog Bailey, who everyone loved. :)
The room was just as pictured. Very clean and tidy and had everything we needed (including extra towels!).
I can not say enough good things about staying at Debbie's house. Everything was perfect. Staying here is simply so much better than a B&B. Debbie's home is classic Nantucket beauty. You can walk everywhere in town even down to the beach. I loved staying here and would stay here again in a heart beat! Hands down one of the most fun Airbnb trips!
The room overall was nice, large and clean. Exactly like the photos. It is in the basement so you don't get to experience the Nantucket feel at all. There is no place to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. A sitting area for guests would have been a nice touch. There is no coffee maker or guest service for that, so you have to wake up and walk to get coffee every day. It is further away from town than I would have expected so going out at night is usually a taxi ride home. Debbie did not great us the entire stay which I did not think was proper as it is a rental property and we were guests. Just a one-time check in to answer questions and not rely on text which is so impersonal. There are many other places closer to town that would be a better choice if I were to go again that provide some of things that are missing here.
We live on the island and we both have business here - with a short 2 month season we have to work hard since it is such a short window. We have 2 boys to care for as well. I say in our listing that we are busy and not home much which is usually what guests want, they are typically here to explore, go to fine restaurants and enjoy all the beaches the island has to offer. I have owned Inns on the island for over 15+ years and guests usually come to enjoy and explore the island and even there I hardly ever see the guests since everybody is on the go. We eat all organic and raw, we don't drink coffee and my boys sleep in the morning so that is why I don't advertise coffee as an amenity- there are over 25+ places to get coffee in town and Something Natural is a few doors down which is such a pretty walk a few minutes away. Having a coffee maker in the room would not be an option- it would be very messy, the dirty mugs, spills, etc. A few times guests have brought coffee to the room their were spills. You had a very large coffee spill on the rug next to the white night stand that I am still trying to get out. Just having guests bring coffee to their rooms at my Inns there were always spills, messes, etc. You also left a pink stain on the brand new duvet cover that I just purchased and put on the bed. It was at the end of the bed I am sorry you were not happy with your stay, I think a B&B would more suitable since they sometimes have places to sit and offer a cont'l breakfast. I answered all your texts promptly and did my best. I was very disappointed with the smoke smell in our house and would not have rented the room had I known that was going to happen along with the coffee spill on the wool rug and the stain on the brand new duvet. You told me this was your first time using airbnb so maybe you had different expectations, but it is more or less hosts renting a room and not considered a '"rental property' like you stated. We have 2 children and this is our home so we don't open the entire house up to guests. I always offer a guest a beverage if they see them and they want to sit on the porch and talk. Maybe the smoking issue was the hardest part for me since I do not want my kids to be exposed to it and when you were smoking outside by the road and it came in my sons room, that was a turning point for me. I am sorry this did not work out.
Amazing room and amazing location. Debbie was a great host and her room provided the perfect beachy backdrop to our July 4th weekend trip. Would stay here again in a second!

Family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children ages 9 and 10. We live on Nantucket Island and also in Duxbury MA. Active, outdoor type of family loves to go boating, surfing and spend the day at the beach when we are not busy working.
