I rent my small apartment (renovated two years ago) next to my own flat, in the ancient area of Perugia called Via della Viola. It's a single room with a mezzanine bed and bathroom. There is no kitchen.
The flat is in the very centre of Perugia in an area which is interesting for the arts and folklore. It is ideal for singles or couples who are visiting the historical centre of Perugia for a short period.
It is easy to get home. If you arrive by car there is free parking in Viale Ripa di Meana, 300 meters away. if you arrive by train, there is the "Minimetro", get off at the station "Pincetto", in the historic centre.
The area where the house is, called Via della Viola, is full of taverns, good&cheap pizzerias, jazz clubs. A movement of young artists also resides here, with their labs open to the public.
We received a warmth welcome from Pierpaolo who has been waiting for us in his apartment.
The place is well located within the medieval part of the town. About 10 minutes walk up to both the town centre and minimetro.
The room is small but clean and good enough for two. Although the host has mentioned about the mezzanine bed, it has not occurred to us that it refer to a climb up bed. This might be a consideration for potential guests. The host has installed a climb up bed to create a space underneath for living room, which may not be necessary since mostly a bed and a table will be enough, for most.
There are two great restaurants near the place we stay. A pizzeria that is just a block away that served good and cheap pizza, recommended by Pierpaolo himself. A osteria il gofu, which served tradition food at affordable price.
For those who has problem climbing up the slope to the town centre or probably the minimetro as well, if you frequent the escalator up taking the Via Carlolari route to the apartment, there is an alternative approach to the old town centre and minimetro from the apartment, which is down slope. From Via della Viola, instead of walking up Via Cartolari, take the route leading to Via Imbriani, there is a lift in a underpass near the minmetro which will bring you up to the town centre.
What a great little place! :) It was really just what I needed for the few days I was in Perugia - and it was so cozy and clean, which was great coming from hostels. Pierpaolo was there when I arrived, as expected, and made me feel welcome and comfortable, answering any questions I had.
I did have a bit of a hard time finding the street once I got off the Pincetto minimetro stop, but picking up a map at the tourist information helped. After finding it though, I was very happy with the location. It was just a short walk to the center and two great restaurants are less than a 2 minute walk away.
Overall I had a great time staying here and was very satisfied with the apartment. :)
Pierpaolo made me feel very welcome upon my arrival. Room was small but comfortable. Neighborhood was in the medieval central historic area...great places to eat and drink with just a few steps outside the door! Civic 25 was excellent for food and drink...the staff were great!
Pierpaolo's place is exactly the place I wanted to have for a few days staying in the heart of a medieval town. It brings me back to the past!
The mini studio itself is small but cozy and clean! Sufficient for a single or couple travelers. It was a bunk bed and the couch below it make it feel so comfortable.
The location is superb as it is not stone throw to the historic centre but close enough to walk - a few turns of streets and tadahh.. you are at most amenities.
Perugia was a good hideway for those who are not looking for the hustling bustling of a city!
I would definitely recommend anyone to Pierpaolo's place. It was value for money much better than stayin in the hotel or hostel or B&b!
