Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Kate and I stayed with Ken, Mari and Gaku for 4 nights. They are a lovely family and were so kind and welcoming to us. They gave us easy to follow directions to their place and were waiting for us with smiles when we arrived. I loved playing with Gaku and he enjoyed the attention.

Their place is small but clean and we had lots of privacey and the freedom to come and go at any time of the day or night. The guest rooms have coded locks on them which we encoded ourselves so we felt good leaving our valuables there during the day. Ken even lent us a portable hot spot so we could have internet access while out around the city.

Our last day there they took us for a walk in Harajuku to see a temple. It was really nice to spend that time with them. If I get the chance to go back to Tokyo for a few days, I would love to stay with them again.

  • We just spent 3 nights with this lovely family. They are so friendly! invited us for dinner, brought us to metro station to say goodbye after check-out!
Great location near Shinjuku, nice room, clean and confortable.
Location, great people, a real immersion in a japanese family => a perfect airbnb place! We definitely will come back!
Thank you again Mari & Ken

  • Mari and Ken were kind and considerate making this a really pleasant first time experience for Shengpei and I using airbnb. I very much liked the area the apartment was in too: lots of cool eating places and a large park to soak in the bright winter sun! I highly recommend the cake shop facing the park and the homemade soba place on Shinjuku 2-chome. At the latter, I had my favourite roast duck soba noodles, and the fact that it closes at 4 am was everything a night bird like myself could hope for!

  • Me and my sister have a wonderful stay with this friendly host family. We stayed for 5 nights. Mari and Ken are very helpful and friendly.
My room was very clean and tidy like 5 stars hotel with full length mirror, long table, Plasma TV..etc.
They prepare for us some instant coffee and tea, toast bread, juice...etc.
This place surrounded by many mall, shop and restaurant. Very convenient! Especially there was many 24H Japanese restaurant and many 24H convenient store.
The room and house main door was build in pin code security lock, you can set your own pin code for your room lock and house lock too!
I highly recommend this host family for all of you!

  • Mari, Ken, and Gaku are an amazing family full off energy and love. The kindness and respect they show provides a strong sense of home. Words could not describe the love and respect I have for Mari, Ken and Gaku. I highly recommend their home for any traveler. Thank you very much!

  • If you are looking for a clean, lovely furnished and spacious room which is centrally located, you have found the right place! ♥

I had a great stay at Mari, Ken and Gaku's apartment! The room was lovely furnished and spacious. I especially loved the heated carpet ♥
I stayed there for over two weeks and we often had breakfast or dinner together. I was allowed to eat toast, ramen, curry and more for free *^* Thank you! >.<
Moreover we spent New Year's Eve together and it was so nice to experience a japanese New Year's Eve! The family from the other room and two language students attended our small party, too, and Mari & Ken cooked for us. Around midnight we visited a shrine together ^-^
During my stay Mari even borrowed me one of her kimons and Ken took many many photos while we took a walk outside ^__^
I came in the winter break and their son Gaku was often at home. He is well-bred and always greeted me when I came home (of course Mari and Ken, too :) ). I really enjoyed it to have a cute little brother ^__^ It was so much fun to play with him!
The apartment was always clean and the towels were changed every 1-2 days! Moreover the location was really perfect. You can walk to Shinjuku or lend one of Mari and Ken's bikes to drive around in the surrounding area. The train stations are easily to reach, too! :D
This was my fifth stay in Japan and the best room I ever stayed in so far. It was the first time I stayed with a family, though. It was totally different from staying at guest houses and I totally recommend it!
Thank you so much for everything Mari, Ken and Gaku! I hope I can stay at this room again (or the other room) when I come back to Japan!

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay with Mari, Ken & Gaku. They were very hospitable hosts and we felt very welcomed. It was our first time sleeping on futon sets and they were very comfortable, we slept like a baby. They allowed me to ship some of the stuff I purchased to their house and even helped me with the disposal of bubble wrap and the boxes. On my last day, Ken helped with my luggages to the metro station.

  • I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Mari and Ken's home. My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights. Our flight was late so we arrived at their home at almost 1am in the morning but Mari and Ken were both up waiting for us. We were hungry and looking for some snacks then Ken offered us their ramen noodles and even cooked for us himself! They are really nice and hospitable. Although their English is not superb, we had no problem communicating with them. They let us eat their bread, cereal and whatever they have for breakfast for free. We had a Japanese breakfast on the last morning. It was really good and they only charged us very little. Honestly I would like to pay 5 times more for such great food.
The apartment is quite compact for American standard, but it has everything you need. The guest room was pretty spacious and clean and we really liked it. It is in the center of the city in Shinjuku so transportation is pretty convenient.
Mari and Ken were very helpful and told us a lot of cheap and great places to eat and shop. You can ask them about anything in Tokyo and they will be more than happy to help you.
Their son Gaku is very adorable and energetic. He would be really happy if you can stay with him a little bit and maybe play games with him when you're at home.
Overall it's definitely the best experience we've ever had with airbnb. It was really nice to have the chance to stay with such a wonderful host family when traveling. We will definitely stay with them again in the future!
Thanks so much for everything Mari and Ken!
