The room has a microwave and a mini-refrigerator for your exclusive use. You are welcome to bring in your own food for lunch or dinner. In temperate weather, enjoy your meals on the covered patio outside your suite, which has a gas barbeque with a side burner, a deep utility sink (cold water only), a table and chairs, and a ceiling fan and spray misters if you would like to enjoy your meals next to our pool. The cabinet under the coffee maker has dishes and bowls, glasses, flatware, and a blender. The living room is large enough to set up a queen sized aerobed if you are traveling with more than 2 people. Please let us know if you would like us to set it up.

We have a fire extinguisher and fire hydrant on the premises. We are both trained in CPR and first aid. In addition, if you have kids, our pool is separately fenced with a 4' fence for safety.

Interaction with Guests

We are experienced travelers, and we understand what other travelers require. Our goal is to provide all that and more. We have lots of tourist info for Sacramento and other parts of California as well as personal knowledge of much of the state. We can help you plan your day or the rest of your trip. Or if you prefer, you can just sit back and relax in privacy.

The Neighborhood

Sacramento is half way between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. We are both natives of Northern California (my husband is from Napa and I am from the San Francisco Peninsula). In our living room, we have a basket of travel materials for Sacramento and other parts of California for your use. There is also a binder with a variety of menus both for restaurants near our house and other parts of the Sacramento area.

We live in a tree-lined suburban neighborhood. We are located near the junction of I-80 and Business 80, about 9 miles to the northeast of downtown Sacramento, and 20 minutes by car from the Sacramento Airport.

Getting Around

There are two parks and a nature trail nearby. We are a short drive from recreational opportunities on the American River and the American River greenbelt. There is free street parking in front of our home.

If you are taking public transportation, we are less than 2 miles from the Watt and I-80 light rail station, where you can catch the #1 bus to a stop about that is 1/2 mile from our home. It takes about 45 minutes to get to our house without a car from downtown using public transportation. However, I work downtown. Depending on my work schedule, I am happy to pick up or drop off travelers downtown (the Amtrack and Greyhound stations are both a short distance from my office) or from the Watt and I-80 light rail station near my house. The new Megabus stop at the Q Street Light Rail station is an easy 45 bus ride (get on the #82 Regional Transit bus at the station and get off a short 4 minute walk from our house).

If you need to rent a car, there is also an Enterprise Rental Car agency open 7 am - 6 pm M-F and Saturday mornings that is an easy 1 mile walk from our house (and they will pick you up from here).

If you don't have a car, the closest restaurants within walking distance are a sandwich shop (0.8 mile), a pizza place (0.9 mile), an "American" restaurant (1.2 miles), a Denny's coffee shop (1.2 miles), a Mexican Restaurant (1.4 miles), and an excellent vegetarian restaurant (1.5 miles). Some of these restaurants, as well as other local restaurants, will deliver.

Please see our guidebook for this listing for restaurant and other recommendations.

Other Things to Note

We have a lot of guest information for you on our blog at

We have two very friendly medium sized dogs and a cat. The cat is an indoor only kitty. Please keep the gate to the yard and the front door closed at all times so the cat and dogs don't get out--even if they beg. Our animals are friendly and well behaved in the house once they get over their initial excitement of meeting new people. My border collie mix (Sophie) will protect you from wolves (she's very good at it -- we've never seen one around the house), and my bassett hound mix (Colin) will sit in your lap if you let him (but don't because he is too long to fit). Our kitty (Mulan) does what she wants, mostly. She might strike up a conversation with you if she likes you.

We have three listings at this location, including this one, on Airbnb. There may be other guests present during your stay.

We don't wear shoes in the house, but you can wear yours if you want.

Continental breakfast is included. Full breakfast on the weekends can be provided for a small extra charge. Please let us know in advance if you would like this option. Selections and prices are available on our blog.

Laundry privileges can be arranged for a small charge to cover our costs. See our blog under "Useful Information."

We accept cash or Paypal for any additional charges.

We have a port-a-crib and highchair available upon request. We also have a queen-sized aerobed that can be set up in the living room of the suite upon request for older children or adults. Please note that there is an extra charge for more than two guests.
