The space

Rathellen House is an elegant Georgian style country house set on four acres of grounds, with panoramic views of the Galtee Mountains, at the edge of the Glen of Aherlow, near Bansha, Co. Tipperary. Rathellen House is stylish and sophisticated, yet informal and relaxing. Its’ bedrooms are individually decorated in a classical style.
Rathellen House is truly a special place to stay. Built in a Georgian style country house offering extremely luxurious accommodation in elegant surroundings.

Rathellen House is the perfect venue for family gatherings, for holiday makers, for walkers and anglers, for gatherings of friends and for special occasions. Our central location (one mile off the N24 near Bansha and six miles from Junction 10, M8 near Cahir) makes it an ideal base for touring. Kilkenny, Waterford, Limerick and Cork are all within a one hour drive. There is plenty to see and do locally also. The Rock of Cashel is twenty minutes drive and Cahir Castle is a ten minute drive from Rathellen House.

The Drawing Room is the main room of the house. It is furnished in a country house style. A large Waterford Crystal chandelier enhances the setting. The white marble fireplace forms the centerpiece of the room. The Drawing Room leads to the Library. This very cozy room is the ideal place to sit and enjoy one of the books from the well stocked library. The Dining Room has a Kilkenny Marble fireplace, a Waterford Crystal chandelier and a wooden floor. The antique furniture creates a room full of character (seats 20).

Each of the six bedrooms are individually decorated in a classical style. They are the essence of luxury, comfort and relaxation (memory foam mattresses and Egyptian Cotton bed linen). All bedrooms are ensuite (two with Jacuzzi bath tubs). There are power showers, demist mirrors and under floor heating in each ensuite.

Rathellen House is proud of its eco friendly heating system. Solar panels provide plentiful supplies of hot water, backed up by the wood pellet heating system. There is under floor heating throughout the house. The Laundry is well equipped with a Miele washing machine, a large tumble dryer and ironing facilities. A Drying room is available for walkers/anglers.

Additional accommodation is available in Coopers Cottage (sleeps 6) and is located at the end of the drive.

Our Hosts Eamonn and Stella were so welcoming and attentive, the house looks amazing, beautiful and elegent, large and pampering bedrooms decorated with taste and attention to details. The livingroom, kitchen and dining room are spaceouse and well equipped, even for 12 of us staying together. Stella and Eammon were understanding about our kids needs and how noisy there were at times. We highly reccommend staying in Rathellen House!!! it is amazing!
