Our apartment is perfect for the traveler who is looking for basic accommodations, but wants a little more room to spread out than a standard hotel room offers. Minutes to Penn State, but "away from it all" -- a perfect home base for your visit!

The space

Clean, cozy efficiency/studio apartment available for short-term rentals. Only 2.5 miles from Beaver Stadium & Bryce Jordan Center. In a quiet neighborhood, but close to everything! Mount Nittany, Spring Creek Park, and bike path to various destinations are all moments away. With your own entrance and parking spot, you can come and go as you please.

A queen-size bed and a queen-size futon offer flexible sleeping configurations for two people. Maximum two-person occupancy, two-night minimum stay.
Coffee/tea & towels/linens provided. Wi-fi available.

The kitchen is for light use only. For guests who plan to do a lot of cooking during their stay, this is not a suitable fit (see more information below).

Things to keep in mind:
This apartment is on a limited-service bus line (no weekend service) and is *not* within walking distance to downtown State College. Guests staying in the apartment would do best if they have a car. Apartment does *not* have a TV or air conditioning. This apartment is in the lower level of our home. We will be home during rental periods, and are looking for renters who are reasonably quiet after 10 p.m.

We do have one cat, but the cat has never entered the apartment.

No smoking in the apartment. We are happy to provide an ashtray for outside smoking upon request.

Guest access

The apartment is attached to our home, but a separate entity in terms of access. Guests have their own space completely separate from our household.

Interaction with guests

The apartment is in the lower level of our home. Guests can let themselves into the apartment via a keypad. If we aren't home to greet you, we'll stop by to say hello. After that, we have little additional contact with them, unless they seek us out.

Other things to note

We do not charge a cleaning fee, and expect our guests to perform a very basic clean-up upon checking out (washing their dishes, putting their trash into a trashcan, wiping off counters, that kind of thing). Our kitchen is for light use only. No highly fragrant foods, high-heat cooking, etc. due to limited ventilation and a very sensitive smoke alarm. We will charge a $100 air-out fee if guests create strong food odors that will require our additional effort to get rid of.

Kristen and Matt's place was perfect for our weekend visit to Penn State! The unit was clean and cozy and had everything we could need. There were plenty of extra pillows and blankets in the closet and a full kitchen and small, two person dining table. Since this was a basement apartment, you could hear a small amount of noise from upstairs, but Kristen and Matt followed the same quiet hours they expect from their guests and were extremely respectful in that regard. If they suspect anyone is home, they try to keep any noise to a reasonable level even outside of the quiet hours. Their home is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood east of 322, so you don't deal with any of the noise you would if you were to stay in downtown State College. However, downtown is only a quick $10 Uber ride away, just be aware of the time as a ride back at 2am costs closer to $30. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would stay with Kristen and Matt again in a heartbeat!

I have stayed at Kristen & Matt's listing several times now. Kristen has always communicative and friendly. I like being able to make my own small meals in the apartment's kitchen. I also like the location; it's close to the Penn Stater and there is also a park and nature center within walking distance.

Kristen & Matt's place was very spacious, clean and confortable for two persons. It is located in a quiet country setting about three miles from State College. You will need GPS to find it especially at night as the roads are not lit and the road signage is poor.

A perfect place for our trip to Penn State! We had everything we needed, it was a quick 10 minute trip to campus, and having the separate entrance was great for being able to come and go at the different times we needed to. This will be the first place we look to book on our next trip.

Kristen & Matt User ProfileKristen & Matt is a superhost.

We are easy-going people with some extra space to share. We enjoy meeting all the people that rent our apartment, but we give plenty of privacy and space so you can enjoy yourselves on your visit to State College. Once we get you checked in, you'll see very little of us, unless of course you need something or have a problem.
