Villa Pochote is a large, cool and comfortable house located on the hill top above the town of Montezuma, in the most exclusive residential neighborhood 'Calle Linda Vista'
It is located only 1 Km. from Montezuma downtown and the beaches.

The space

Because of its special location, in front of a grove that covers the bed of a stream and near the top of a huge Pochote tree, you can always enjoy a cool caressing breeze and observe a lot of wildlife.

In addition it has a view of the ocean from the pool, its terraces and outside dining area.

Villa Pochote is far enough from town for enjoying "peace at home" but at the same time is near enough for going walking to downtown, the beaches or Montezuma River and its famous waterfalls.

The pool at this house was amazing! The place was so peaceful and relaxing, and backs right up to lush tropical forest. Iguanas visited us everyday and we saw a few monkeys also. The house was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only negative is the road getting there was a bit harsh, but most all the roads around that area seem to be the same way and you just have to go slow. Definitely glad we rented a 4X4. I would definitely stay here again if I had the chance!

Beautiful house with amazing outdoor space and pool. Very clean and private...only one neighboring house but we didn't see anyone else during our time there. A car is recommended if you are traveling with young children, as the walk in and out of town is steep and on the paved road. Great spot at our favorite beach spot in CR.

Rebecca was most welcoming and warm with welcoming my guests and I to Villa Pochote. She gave a tour of the house and all of its amenities along with the a rundown of what's where in town. The house was perfect! A beautiful home with great energy and beautifully decorated. Spacious and comfortable with a perfect sized pool to float about and listen to nature. The house is located on a dirt road off the main road on top of a hill about a mile from town center. The hill is steep, real steep. I walked down every morning and almost always took a taxi back up during the day, after a certain hour in the PM taxis were scarce. Rent a car or ATV if strenuous activity is not your thing. Everything was great! I highly recommend this place for some good rest and relaxation. The nature was amazing, birds, monkeys, and geckos. One of my favorite aspects of the house was Lupo! Lupo was the coolest, he's like a small horse, but he's really a dog. Super friendly and loves ear scratches.

Our family stayed at Villa Pochote for six weeks at the start of the rainy season: THE GOOD - Beautiful location perched on a hill overlooking trees - Wake up to the sound of birds and howler monkeys - Gorgeous pool with a spectacular view - House well supplied with everything you need for your stay - Very quiet and peaceful - Nice master bathroom - Reliable internet - Rebecca's nice dog Lupo spent a great deal of time at the house THE BAD - Hot water very unreliable - Screens cover all windows but mosquitoes still come in through various holes in the house. Use of mosquito repellent indoors suggested for the rainy season as zika, chikungunya and dengue are all prevalent in the area - Master bedroom doesn't have AC so it is very hot. We had to buy our own fan to stay comfortable - Much of the house is dark. Kitchen and living room have very little natural light and at night is poorly lit with dim bulbs - Very small 'dinner' table. There is a table outdoors but way too many mosquitoes to be usable (during rainy season, dry season might be a much different story) - Paid a huge amount extra for electricity, even after following Rebecca's strict requirements for AC usage - Unpleasant host OTHER - A car is an absolute requirement. The 'walk' into town is down a very steep, curvy hill with no space for pedestrians - Famous waterfalls are a short walk away. Perfect for the adventurous, but way too steep for young kids and older adults

Response from Rebeca:
I just wanted to say that there are no "holes" in my Villa, if there were mosquitos inside, it was because the doors or screens in the windows were open. Even if there are some mosquitos in the area, we never have had any single case of Zika or Chicungunyia and no Dengue since 2014. I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy the outside areas of the villa like all the rest of my guests did in dry or rainy season.

About Rebeca

I'm from San José, Costa Rica. I came to Montezuma the first time, 31 years ago and fell in love with this magnetic, magical and wonderful place. First because of its nature and second because the way of living of the very little people that lived here at that time. Because of my mother's job as a costarrican diplomatic, I lived in some countries in South America and Europe but whenever I was I was longing Montezuma!
So, 21 years ago, when the tourism industry began to develop in the area, I came to settle here and founded the first tourist office in town in which I worked for 15 years.
Even if Montezuma town has changed a lot since that distant day of March 1982, and now there's people from all around the world and the way of living in Montezuma is so different, its nature conserves all the magic and enchanting charm of that time, for me that's the most valuable treasure that Montezuma and Villa Pochote have to offer!
And I think I'm very lucky to have had the opportunity to live here all this time!
