Depot Beach is a small village approximately 15 kms north of Batemans Bay.
Depot is a great surfing beach but is also safe for younger or inexperienced swimmers. North Durras Beach is another renowned surfing beach that is a short walk across the headland, or around the rock platform at low tide. The rock platform is home to vast numbers of rock pools with diverse marine life.
The South Coast is renowned for excellent fishing and Depot Beach is no exception. There are great spots for beach fishing, lake fishing and also rock platforms. Depending upon the time of year you can catch snapper, redfish, leatherjacket and flathead.
Durras Lake, one of the most pristine coastal lakes in NSW, is perfect for canoeing, prawning and boating.
MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK is a sanctuary for a multitude of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidna, possums, goanna and spectacularly colourful parrots and other birds.
The park is home to over 207 species of birds and 39 native mammals as well as over 400 species of flora.
Look for lyrebirds, parrots, gliders, sea eagles and the endangered sooty oyster catcher.
Marine life is also abundant. Dolphins are regulars and whales frequently visit on their seasonal migration (heading north in April/May and south in October/November).
There are no shops at Depot, one of its many charms -- essentials such as bread and milk (and icecreams) can be purchased at the North Durras Convenience Store.
There is a Woolworths, Coles and Aldi in Batemans Bay, as well as a good butcher (at Stocklands) and terrific oysters and fish at the Pearly Oyster Bar. For excellent fresh fruit and vegies try the hydroponic farm on the South Durras Rd – about 500m from the turn off on the Princes Highway. You can also purchase marvellous family pies (an Australian specialty) of many different types (sweet and savoury) at East Lynne.
We are reliant on rainwater so please use water sparingly.

Cleaning: we have a cleaner who does the floors and bathroom as well as a general tidy. He does not do the washing up so please ensure you do it before you leave, and that you leave the benches clean.
