Suitable for artists and creatives: a large studio in a one of a kind renovated huge loft, with mezzanine with futon; two huge windows facing the quiet green courtyard; bike and coffee corner.
We have a newly created XL loft studio available at our new art center. It is suitable for art lovers or creative persons that appreciate spacious surroundings and a creative atmosphere that allows for communication and interaction as well as introspection, productivity, relaxation, quiet and privacy.
Filled with design furniture and original contemporary art, the fully furnished no-smoking studio is 3.85 m. high; has a new wooden floor, and is bright and well insulated, featuring two large, newly built double-pane windows. It faces the more quiet leafy courtyard, and gets the morning sun.
As main sleeping place, the room features a cosy mezzanine overlooking the room, with a 180 x 220 cm mattress (or futon if preferred). Additionally, there is a quality modern daybed on ground level where a third (or fourth) person can comfortably sleep.
The beds come with comfortable down and feather comforters (or cotton ones if preferred), sheets, towels, bathrobes, hair dryer, a breakfast corner with quiet small fridge, Nespresso coffee machine (pads included), water cooker, fine teas, cutlery, cups, dishes, glasses etc. We take pride in the details.
The rent includes breakfast, electricity, central heating, WIFI (50.000 kBit/s). There is a shared bathroom with a rain shower. Cleaning service is included. Our guests have access to a washing machine, ironing gear, your own local phone or mobile phone, bikes and shared spacious loft (where you can smoke, read, cook) and large well-equipped kitchen with your breakfast things.
We are an open, supportive community of visual artists, curators, music producers that welcomes international guests. We speak English, Portuguese, Dutch, German, and some French. Any room requirements, let me know, thanks!
Washing machine, mountain bikes, high speed Wifi, ironing gear, your own local phone or mobile phone, huge kitchen/salon area.
I live on the premises, and enjoy giving information and advice on Berlin and its art scene in particular.
The studio is situated on the sunny first floor loft of a 1890's mixed residential/commercial building at a lively main street near Kottbusser Tor; a stylishly renovated former "Kaffeehaus" in the middle of the vibrant cosmopolitan "Kreuzkoelln" neighborhood, the creative area connecting Kreuzberg and Neukoelln.
Within walking distance are numerous trendy cafes/restaurants/clubs, as well as art spaces and institutions like Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien, the BBK Print Facilities and Media Studios, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien and NGBK.
The U-Bahnhof Schönleinstrasse (Metro LIne U8, exit Schinkestrasse) is right at the doorstep, as is the N8 Nightbus stop. It is a 200 meter walk from U-Bahnhof Kottbusser Tor (Metro LIne U1 reaches areas like Friedrichshain and Schoeneberg within 15 minutes). At Kottbusser Tor you'll find a taxi stand as well.
It is an artist's community, generally quiet and mature.

Oozing with creativity and community.
Paul seems like a sweethart.
Il était très agréable de rester chez la groupe de SomoS. La chambre est exactement comme representée sur les photos. En plus, il y a un large espace partagé avec une grande cuisine. J'aimerais bien rester dans cette espace artistique.
The SomoS artist space is a great place to authentically experience Berlin's art scene. Located on the very border of two of the most famous Berlin quaters (Kreuzberg and Neukölln) it is a step away from the next Subway station and perfect starting place to explore the city. The rooms are huge, proper, adequately arranged and absolutely lovely. Besides there is an immense gathering space including an open kitchen where all the residents can meet up, hang around, cook, chill, enjoy.
Paul is very kind, friendly, uncomplicated and always there to help or to answer questions.
If you are lucky, you even see artists at work at the gallery space or experience a vernissage.
To recommend to all who are interested in something new, fresh, exciting - which - as it is often the case for all Berlin scenes - indiscribable.
Everything about the place was quirky. I was expecting a real bed (as advertised) but it turned out to be a fold out, uncomfortable couch. The location was not really that great either.
Sorry to read such general dismissive remarks putting down a whole place for a simple lack of communication. A glance at the many positive experiences of our guests with both place and location quickly shows it's probably more a case of mismatched temperaments and a lack of appreciation for a less mainstream and more artistic environment than any room requirements that would have readily been adjusted if mentioned.
This spacious room has a large quality slatted bed frame bed of 110 by 220 cm that can be enlarged to a 180 cm width; plus a double king size futon, both of which are made up ready to use. Any required change or addition to a room can usually be met instantly as we are quite resourceful besides being quirky.
As "quirky" is said to signify: "different from the ordinary in a way that causes curiosity," or "something that is strange/not normal but cool" I can only hope for guests that can appreciate -and match!- such traits.
