Cabin 20: This is charming 100-year-old cabin is tucked into the edge of the woods near the banks of the White Salmon river. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, this rustic original includes the perfect balance of modern amenities and vintage coziness.

The space
We love our guests and with over 300 reviews, they say it best: “Rustic, restful, inviting, magnificent, well-stocked, comforting, cozy, magical.” We feel the same and this special place has been our own, much-loved family retreat for over ten years. This is the perfect place to curl up by the fire for a winter weekend or enjoy a leisurely dinner on the deck during the twilight of a summer evening. The large kitchen is well-equipped. With one bathroom, we recommend no more than 4 guests but make exceptions for families with two adults and three kids. The loft has a comfortable queen and set of twin beds. There is an additional queen downstairs in the open concept floor plan. We supply ample firewood which you will use in the winter as the woodstove is the primary source of heat. Once it gets going, the entire place stays toasty warm but if building a fire on a winter morning isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to consider our listing for Cabin 19.

The cabin feels remote but is convenient to the best the Gorge has to offer. Whatever your interest, Cabin 20 is a great home base: White Salmon, Hood River, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, wineries, horseback riding, rafting, hiking, kayaking, fishing, wind surfing. biking, berry picking (summer), snow sports/play (winter). There are several rafting companies just up the road in Husum. Trailheads are short walk from the front door. I enjoy all of it but my favorite thing to do is to sit on the deck and read and bird watch. It is a really special place.

Cabin 20 sits in a cluster of 5 cabins. It is quiet and once you are settled in you barely notice our neighbors. Some are occupied full time so please be respectful of our neighbors. There are hiking trails near by. We are very near the rafting pull out for white water rafting on the White Salmon river. We are about 35 min to Mt Hood Meadows ski resort. The cabin is 12 min drive to White Salmon and 15 or so to Hood River.
There is guest daytime parking at the nearby Northwestern park.

I'm a 50 something mother of 3. One of my beauties is grown and out on her own the others are still at home. I have lived in Portland for the past 20 years, before that I was in Venice, Ca and before that San Francisco. I'm most happily married and surprised to be a stay at home mom but really enjoying it. We LOVE the northwest!! We love to travel and do it often as we can. We have traveled in the US, Europe, Mexico and India. At collage I studied Art History. My husband has worked in the film business for the last 25 years. We have been happily opening our homes to guests for the last 10 years and we enjoy hosting folks from all over the world. 5 things I cannot live w/o my wonderful loving husband and children, food and H20, nature, and art and my furry friends.
