You'll find everything you need in the apt. (linen, towels etc.)The neighbourhood is very lively, with restaurants, wine bars, shops and a very nice market every morning .
Lovely flat In the heart of Pigneto with a large terrace overlooking the animated main street of Pigneto. The area is lovely. Obviously not very many places in Rome are immune from tourists, but certainly Pigneto feels more like a normal urban, genuine and true neighborhood than a tourist area. Artists, young people, gourmets come here every night to sit, talk in front of a good glass of wine. or listen to live music. In the morning the pedestrian area becomes a colourful market, where to buy fruit, vegetables, Roman specialties and handycraft.
The apt is very well equipped with fridge, freezer, electric oven, microwave, fans, air conditioning, heater, TV and DVD player, dishwasher and washing-machine. Sheets, blankets, duvets are furnished as well as dishes, cutlery and pots and everything necessary to cook and to eat. A roof terrace is available with a washing machine and space to hang the laundry.
It's the ideal place for a couple + 2 guests who really want to understand and visit the city and at the same time live in a trendy area mixed with the flavour of the old and authentic Rome.
In the terrace you can relax, enjoy your own "happy hour", the sun and fresh air and also take part of the "movida" without moving from home.
When the time comes to explore the city ancient center, you can take a tram (14 or 5) or bus 105 to reach Termini, or the 81 that takes you straight to Piazza Venezia. All public transport are at a 3 min. walking distance.
The number of guests cannot be more than 2 + 2 .
All the appliances are working perfectly: damages due to misuse must be refunded to the Host at the end of the stay.
Check- in and check-out time is flexible but guests should arrive not later than 11.30 p.m.
The wifi connection has a limit of 7 giga /month and is meant for normal communication and info activities (e-mail, (website hidden), surfing etc) The download of films and heavy files is forbidden.
When the maximum limit of 7 giga is reached the wifi connection will not work any longer.
There was a small change in my schedule and Ludovico and Pierluigi rushed to get the apartment ready a day early, which was very kind of them. Pierluigi met me at the apartment and should me where everything was and how it worked.
OK ... the apartment. It is extremely spacious. There is a large 2nd floor outdoor terrace (primo piano in Italy) which was wonderful. Additional, up two flights of stairs was another private outdoor terrance. This was where the washing machine was located. The kitchen was more than adequate. Large refrigerator, freezer, stove, dishwasher, dishes and equipment etc. If you wanted to cook at home, there was plenty of grocery stores, butcher, cheese, fruit & veg etc. in the neighborhood. Bathroom fully functional ... I did turn up the water heat a bit and then had good showers. Bedroom was large, very adequate storage drawers and a good firm bed. The internet was excellent for the most part ... occasionally it would slow down a bit around 5PM. The building felt very safe and was quiet. If you wanted a little street noise just open the doors to the terrance. Heat and hot water worked (website hidden) worked, but other than the interest of watching a Game of Thrones episode in italian, I didn't use it. The is a DVD with 25 or so DVDs. Again, didn't use it.
The neighborhood was very lively. Probably a dozen places to eat/drink in short walking distance. The location was close to three of the cities tram lines (all at the same tram station about 150 yds from the apartment). These three (5,14,19) all stop two stops later at the Piazza Maggiore, which is the tram "hub" for the city. Those that take the effort to figure out the city public transportation system (trams, metro, bus) will appreciate this location.
I would suggest that anyone who is not comfortable in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood might feel a bit edgy. That being said, I never had a problem or felt uneasy in any way. Some italian language will help ... this is not a tourist area, but not imperative. Learn a few simple polite words and smile ... great communication!
I would return to this location.
We enjoyed staying here at this apartment. The location was very good. We were able to walk to many of the major attractions, or take public transportation. The neighborhood is very lively, but noisy. In summer this could be a problem because windows would have to be open (no A/C). It you're looking for a quiet location, this is not the place. However it is close to good restaurants, wine shop, bakery and grocery. Kitchen is well equipped. Washing machine was a plus but you had to hang out the clothes to dry (private area was available).
In summer, if voices and music are too noisy, or it's too hot outside, windows can be closed as there is a very efficient A/C system. Just read the reviews of our summer guests.
Using the sun and the wind to dry your laundry, instead of electricity, is just a question of being environment friendly. I'm very proud of it. Especially because the
apartment has a private, sunny terrace especially equipped for this purpose.
We stayed in Lodovica's flat for 6 months and it was overall a great experience. We kept in touch by email, and she was always caring and quick to respond to all our needs and questions, and always made sure someone could help us out, no matter if we needed a plumber on New Years Eve, an electrician, or basic advice about the neighborhood. The flat has a well equipped kitchen and a wonderful spacious terrace. It is situated in a vibrant street - it can also get to loud :), in Rome's coolest area, and during these 6 months we felt like locals with everything needed for everyday life right on our doorstep. We loved this stay, and Lodovica made us feel safe and welcome, she even helped me with my italian :) - and we would not hesitate to come back.
The reservation was canceled 237 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This appartement in the Pignetto area has a few pros and only one con.
You are close to some of the tips you find on spotted by the locals. You got a cosy, green terras that adds to the already spacious appartement. Even in august this is a cool place, thanks to a good working airco and thick walls. You will find everything as described. No surprises on arrival.
The rumour on the street quits around midnight. But I guess you would rather find yourself in the business of the bars and the crowd that's hanging out in the street than sitting inside...
Together with the market that stalls every day you can easily taste the local city life. Be prepared and teach yourself some basic Italian. In Rome centre they speak basic English, but here it's up to you to speak basic Italian : )
If you're only in Rome for hopping from one highlight to the other, than this apt might be out of centre of things. It takes you 30 min to an hour in peak times to get to the main sight seeing events with public transport, which is around the corner. Or you can do like us and rent a scooter. More expensive than public transport, but so much more fun. Roman traffic is used to scooters, so it's safe.
Lodovica is a caring and an easy going host. We had correct and fast contact by mail and SMS, flexible checking in and out times as we had a late departure flight.
An overall good experience. Oh yes, and the bed sleeps fine!
Thanks Lodovica for opening your apt to the Airbnb community.
