The space

Third Floor Sweet is the third floor of our house, blocks from Smith College and close to downtown Northampton. This spacious L-shaped studio has three separate areas. The bedroom area has a king-sized bed, club chair, dresser and flat-screened cable television. The living space has two couches, practically twin- bed sized (33" wide and 60" long), that can be used as extra sleeping space. There is also a small work space with a desk. There is a kitchen area with a small refrigerator, coffee maker, electric tea kettle and microwave. There are great views out the sliding door from the table and two chairs. And the bathroom is roomy and includes a corner stall shower that has great water pressure!

You have your own separate entrance via an outdoor spiral staircase which means you are free to come and go as you please. Plus there is a small deck to hang out and watch the birds and the sunrise with your coffee.

The continental breakfast includes coffee/tea, juice, yogurt, and delicious granola. The breakfast is left for you to enjoy in the Sweet at your leisure.

If you're inclined to spend time in the room, you'll find it light filled during the day and peaceful. If your time here takes you into Northampton downtown or to Smith College, you might enjoy walking; we're five blocks from Smith and downtown is just beyond that.

This is a vibrant area to visit! The choices of things to do include seeing charming, local towns, good restaurants, music, bars, bookstores, parks, colleges (Smith, Hampshire, Amherst, Mt. Holyoke, Umass Amherst), shopping, art galleries, theatre, farmers markets, botanic gardens. Very close by you'll find historic interest, hiking, biking, all that the Berkshires offer (an easy one hour drive to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, MASSMoCA). And there's much beauty in the Pioneer Valley itself. Hope to see you soon(URL HIDDEN)***************************************

Space is just lovely. Light airy or cozy depending on weather. Virginia is very friendly and adds breakfast surprises to make a great combination of privacy and interaction. The only drawback is the outside metal staircase that could be a challenge but we were offered the key and use of indoor stairs if need be. We didn't need them in spite of rainy weather.

I had stayed here before so Virginia and I emailed before I arrived and I ask for a few breakfast items and she was so accommodating. The neighborhood is great, it feels so safe and is a short walk to Smith College and to the center of Northampton. I was attending a class at Zea Mays Printmaking and it is very convenient to their location

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Sweet and Northampton ! Virginia is an exceedingly gracious and thoughtful hostess- every detail of comfort taken in consideration with a check in each day to confirm them. All in all - highly recommend!

Our stay in 3rd Floor Sweet couldn't have been better. It was very quiet and relaxing in a lovely neighborhood within a walk from Smith College. Perfect for Family Weekend and Virginia was a great host and the granola was yummy. Nice not to have to go out for breakfast!

We had a comfortable, welcoming experience with Virginia. From her first communication with us soon after we made our reservation, Virginia was friendly and attentive to being helpful. The Third Floor Sweet is a really nice space. It's layout gives the sense of several different rooms; the furniture is comfortable; even the toiletries are a step above! Having a refrigerator included is convenient and can cut down on food costs, plus Virginia provides coffee, yogurt, and homemade granola every morning. The house is located in a pretty, quiet neighborhood one block behind a main road. It is under a mile to walk into the center of Northampton. I would definitely try to stay here again if I ever visit Northampton.

Hi! I'm Virginia. Over the years I've enjoyed being a massage therapist and have worked in salons, fabric stores and offices.

I enjoy walking, hiking, reading, dancing and hanging out with friends. I'm fanatic about trees and advocate planting as many as possible, as soon as possible! My favorite music is blues. I enjoy most anything that has to do with people's lives.

It's important to me that my house gives off that sense of lived in and loved in every room. My husband and I don't travel all that much; we like to be home and do projects. When I do travel, I like to be near water.

I try to follow the Four Agreements from a book I read once: Always Do your Best, Don't take anything Personally, Don't make Assumptions and Be Impeccable with your Word.
