Eating out around Vaujany
A small selection of bars & restaurants can be found in Vaujany village (Galleria area) with some offering late night music / drinks. The nearest restaurant to chalet Verney is the ‘Auberge Chez Passoud’ - a 2km picturesque stroll from the chalet located in the hamlet of L’Enversin d’Oz - a rustic eatery serving local dishes in a stunning, tranquil setting. Please consult the owner in advance esp if dining during 'low season'.
Simply follow the sign to L’Enversin d’Oz from the rst hairpin bend approx 250m up the mountain road from the chalet entrance.
Owned and run by Madame Martine Passoud, tel: (phone number hidden)
A 10 minute drive away in the old village of Oz en Oisans (not the ski station, but the village at a similar altitude to the chalet) lies a high quality eatery called ‘Auberge La Cure‘ tel: (phone number hidden)
Furthermore, there are half a dozen places to eat/drink in the village of Allemont (below the lake).
When skiing, perhaps the pick of the restaurants high up above Vaujany is Les Airelles - a superb quaint rustic retreat, previously a barn, serving home made soups, local rustic specialities and deserts served by locals in traditional atire...stunning views from the terrace area, and a cozy log fire inside below:

Interaction with Guests

Possibly the most comprehensive panorama in the Rhone Alpes!
Rustic, authentic alpine farming community yet with world-class skiing and cycling + a place to completely switch off and unwind … few places in the world can offer those things in combination!
The best thing is that Grenoble city is so accessible so car hire is great/easy to the chalet. Only 50 mins drive from Grenoble. Also possible to take a bus from Grenoble to nearby town Bourg d'Oisans and short journey from there.
Other Things to Note
Local free museums (Hydro -electric and Lee-Trafford Mallory) nearby.
- Strictly No smoking / No pets allowed / No shoes indoors
- Daily rates quoted are typical for 'out of peak season' . Please note the chalet is normally let only on a weekly basis during peak summer & winter ski seasons. During April, May September, October & November shorter stays are easier to arrange and typically cheaper where this daily rate applies.
- Weekly rates are normally on a Saturday to Saturday basis (in line with my chalet managers who meet and greet on arrival and departure).
About the Host, Martyn
Having been passionate about the mountains for almost 20 years mainly through road cycling and secondly through skiing, I decided to take the plunge and run a small chalet rental business... a cosy home-from-home that reflected the kind of place I would like to stay in myself. Somewhere with amazing links for (world-class) skiing yet within an authentic unspoilt mountain setting... I chose the small hamlet of Pourchery next to Vaujany for these reasons, oh and did I mention the absolutely stunning mountain and lake panorama with South/South West aspect!
Whilst I now live in London I still spend time each season there enjoying the chalet/location as a holidaymaker myself - for its incredible walks, weather, views, feeling of tranquility and general well-being - for sports enthusiasts its a ski and cycling gem!
Ski. Bike. Hike. Enjoy :)
