The town centre has an array of colourful characters, shopowners and plenty of older folk sitting in the square or outside cafe's playing cards or gulping down their espressos. Many children play safely in the streets or in the parks nearby.
The people are very friendly and always willing to help where they can.
Trains within 15 minute walk and buses 5 minutes away. Car needed if wanting to do day excursions to Siena, Perugia and Chianti region.
Other Things to Note
The neighbours have a few cats in the street who do dirty the road near the entrance. The best thing we found is to keep a plate of cat biscuits and a bowl of water out the front. (biscuits are in cupboard near entrance).
Please do not leave the lights on unnecessarily.
Kristina contacted us about our arrival. Her apartments. Are way up high in a hill town. She knew we were coming with bike bags + suitcases. She offered to pick us up at the train station. The apartment was well appointed and comfortable. The location was great if you are fit and able to climb steep streets, se with stairs. It was right next to a wood-fired oven bakery. Try Carmen's Cantucci.
This is a lovely apartment in a beautiful medieval town, we had a great time here. Anything you need is there ((website hidden) equipment and washing machine), and when I had any questions Kristina always responded straight away. The girl next door is very friendly as well. The only thing that annoyed us sometimes was that the water system (boiler?) downstairs makes quite a bit of noise, also during the night, but you get used to it after a while.
The place is a perfect start to make day trips to Siena, Firenze (Florence), Arezzo (recommended for shopping!) and many more. The public swimming pool (piscina comunale) is just down the hill, I think it was 7,50 euros each, plus you need a swimming cap, but it was very enjoyable. You have a great view on the town from the water. In town they have amazing, thin, pizzas at the Da Roggi restaurant.
I'd definitely recommend others to stay at this apartment!
