Interaction with Guests

We try our best to greet our guests in person when to point out the features of the house, and suggest things to do / see based on our guests interests and the weather.

The Neighborhood

We are located in Ha'ena which is a secluded just west of Hanalei just minutes away from the Na Pali Coast. The best snorkeling on the island is right around the corner from the house. If you know how to surf or want to learn how, Hanalei offers the best place to learn on the island.

  • Kili is very good at responding to your emails. As a frequent Kauai visitor…..there is nothing like staying up on the North Shore. So be aware of island geography…..and if a tropical paradise is your desire….then stay here.

  • Kili was an excellent host and was very responsive to any questions or requests we had. She gave us an excellent recommendation for a Na Pali Coast boat tour, and was quick to answer any questions we had about the property. The house was great: clean, spacious, and replete with any and all amenities you'll possibly need. Even the wi-fi was super speedy. The beach across the street, while remote, isn't one where you'd want to spend your day. It's fine for a walk or a place to read, but it can be a bit windy and isn't a spot for swimming or snorkeling. It's also worth noting that the house is off a main road (mind you, this is a "main road" by Kauai standards), so if you're looking for a secluded place away from everything, this might not be ideal. The drive into Hanalei was only about 15 to 20 minutes and very accessible. It made going into town for breakfast or to catch a boat tour pretty convenient. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again.

Mahalo Butler! Sorry we didn't get to meet face-to-face but we're glad you enjoyed the house. The beach out front is a windier beach but I guess its a preference as we swim there quite often and enjoy it being a little less hot. The beach just around the bend is a bit more protected from the wind and a bit more shallow. :) Thanks for bringing the aloha to our hale!

  • We stayed at this location with our 11 month old daughter and two other couples. It was the perfect location! It allowed us to visit with each other and still have our own space. The kitchen was great and we saved a lot of money by grilling local fresh fish. If you are looking for a low key vacation next to secluded beaches this is a great option.

  • We loved this house! Kili was great and recommended some amazing spots - queens bath and the garden cafe! The house was super clean and comfortable, and located right across the road from a beach where my husband surfed and my toddler could play in the sand. A short drive to Hanalei - and easy access to everything we wanted to do while in Kauai. We will definitely recommend to friends visiting the island and look forward to returning soon!

  • Kili and Esteban's Hale Haena was perfect for our family. I was able to ride a beach cruiser (which Kili kindly organized to have waiting for me) to Ke'e Beach and Tunnels which was great fun and that stretch of the Kuhio Highway is very manageable on a beach cruiser (I love to bike ride but usually stick to biking trails and don't usually ride in traffic and I had NO problem).

The house itself was very comfortable, well outfitted and in a stellar location. It's a short 10 minute drive to Hanalei where we spent a lot of time beaching it, shopping etc., and then you can retreat back to quiet and laid back Haena. I loved walking across the street every morning and sitting on "my" log as I watched the sunrise and drank my coffee, what a magic way to start the day.

Kili was very responsive to all my queries prior to booking Hale Haena and was wonderful to work with. We only got to meet at the very tail end of our trip, as she and Esteban were away, traveling. I was very happy that we got to meet, however briefly. What a lovely couple! Kili even brought over some apple bananas fresh of one of their banana trees for us to enjoy, YUM!

If you like to be a little bit removed from the madding crowd, this is the place for you. I wouldn't hesitate to book Hale Haena on a future trip to the North Shore of Kauai, and indeed, hope to do so again.

  • Fabulous place in a lovely spot on the Na Pali coast. The house is large and comfortable, clean and new, all the kitchen and BBQ amenities. The beach is right across the street, and it's just a few minutes' drive to Tunnel Beach. We had a great time. Thanks, Kilikina!

  • Kili and Estaban's Haena Hale surpassed all our expectations! This beautiful property is located on the most incredible stretch of Kauai coastline, offers you easy access to the Napali conservation area, great snorkelling and swimming right out your front door and beautiful mountain/coastal views from the house. If you are looking for something a bit removed from Hanalai, this is a great option.

The house is very spacious and accommodated our large group comfortably. There is a smaller house (3 BR) on the property as well, so would work well for a family reunion or large group. Spacious lawn outside was great for the kids too! All the appliances (including a great BBQ and washer/dryer) were in working order and made it attractive to stay in for supper. Beds and bedrooms were super comfy. House was fully stocked with beach towels, beach chairs/umbrellas, shower towels, bamboo mats, etc.

Kili and Estaban were great hosts, very prompt in dealing with our questions, super welcoming/accommodating and friendly. We hope to be back in this part of the world again and would book this property without hesitation.

    Mahalo Kili and crew!

  • Kilikina was wonderful!! She followed up with me multiple times prior to our arrival, and everything was ready for our arrival, and Kilikina was there as well. Haena Hale was as advertised, and we LOVED it there. Had a bit more rain than we'd have liked, but the beach across the street was awesome, and we have about 20 lbs of shells and coral we gathered from there. An AWESOME experience! Can't wait to return in a couple years. Mahali Kili!!!

  • This clean and modern house accommodated the seven members of our party comfortably. In one direction lies a beautiful beach just a few steps away and in the other direction there is nice view of a volcanic ridge. The spacious lawn around the house provided plenty of room to park cars and surfboards. The hosts, Kili and Steve, were gracious and helpful and quickly responded to a few questions I had during our stay. This is a really nice place!

  • Kauai is a island that does not need advertisement. Its jungles run to the ocean in a way that is beyond words. Needless to say, this vacation was outstanding. And Kili and her boyfriend were a large part of the huge success. The house was perfect for me and my two friends. The rooms were spacious and clean, the couch was incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen felt like home. As if that wasn't enough, Kili was the most gracious of hosts. She gave us the best introduction to the island, gave amazing advice on how to spend our days, and introduced us to locals for paddle board and kayak rentals. And the location! literally across the street from the beach, and a 10 minute drive to a hike that will change your life. I cannot recommend her or her Haena Hale highly enough. I also cannot wait to go back.
