The Space

Spacious, stylish fully-furnished 1-bedroom loft in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington available for short- or long-term rental.

A gorgeous urban space surrounded by history; 1200 square feet in a renovated historical building with 22-foot ceilings, exposed beams and girders, new plush carpeting and white brick walls. Two bathrooms (shower and full tub), huge walk-in closet, underground parking, skylight.

The unit is next to Cape Fear Community College, two blocks from the Cape Fear River. Surrounded by Wilmington's finest restaurants and night clubs, Pontiac Place is a five-minute walk to the Brooklyn Arts District, the new downtown convention center, PPD, the Cape Fear River Walk, and the water taxi to the USS North Carolina battleship. It's 4 miles from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and a short drive to more than a dozen attractions, including world class golf courses and Wrightsville Beach.

Stroll two blocks to the Riverwalk and enjoy the incredible views of the Cape Fear River. Take a horse-drawn carriage through one of the largest and prettiest historical districts in the country, home to both Revolutionary and Civil War heroes. Take a water taxi across the Cape Fear to tour the USS North Carolina, a decommissioned WWII era battleship. Enjoy free concerts every weekend in summer along the waterfront. Drive out to Wrightsville Beach (25 mins) and enjoy 85 degree water and 10 miles of pristine sand; you can surf, parasail, or jet ski. Take a sail along the Intracoastal waterway or kayak through gorgeous unspoiled marshland. Dive WWII era wrecks and sunken artificial reefs within 45 minutes of shore. There are half a dozen great golf courses and amusement areas within a short drive as well. You won't be bored.

Downstairs living space features a twin-size daybed/couch, 37 inch HDTV, TiVo, Audio-Visual receiver, DVD player, basic cable and WiFi Internet. Fully equipped kitchen includes refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender crock pot, full complement of plates, cutlery, and utensils. Loft bedroom features an overstuffed queen-sized futon, a twin-size day bed, full sized dresser, desk, walk-in closet, full bath, and shaded skylight.

  • Dan place was exactly what we needed for our quiet stay in Wilmington. It was close to everything downtown. Ziggy's, oyster bars, Front Street brewery, Cotton Mill shops, restaurants, the Serpentarium...everything!

Dan was very responsive to phone calls during our stay in case we needed anything related to the place. The decor was welcoming and the kitchen was WELL stocked with the items we needed to do a fish fry and have another seafood night while we were there.

The place was clean, smelled great, and offered lots of natural light, which was good because there was no balcony or porch for outside seating. That was our only drawback, but we knew that going in.

The access door to the garage was our only real complaint. It was a little old and we actually damaged our access key trying to get in. Not Dan's fault by any means but I believe the company who manages the door or the building should take strides to rectify it before another mishap. Thankfully it was our last day and we didn't need to access it to park as Sunday had street level parking.

Otherwise, I would highly recommend this place to vacation in. Cheers Dan!

  • Dan's place is perfect if you need a place to stay that provides "space" for multiple people to share comfortably. The loft is stunning in its own way, with a unique feel due to the exposed beams, brick walls and windows. I loved the looks! The loft condo provides a cool oasis from the heat of the day. Super easy to walk everywhere. The beds are very comfortable with great linens making for a quiet and cozy nights' sleep.

  • This loft was amazing! Close to everything but quiet, cozy but sunny during the day and perfect walking distance for going out nights. Plus the Riverwalk is only two blocks away, which made morning runs super easy and gorgeous. We had a wonderful stay and Dan was very friendly, communicative and accommodating. This would definitely be my first choice for anyone looking for a fun downtown Wilmington experience! P.S. - There's a coffee shop literally around the perfect for the mornings :)

  • Had a great stay at this loft. Central to downtown, the apartment building is an easy walk to a wide variety of the restaurants and bars Wilmington has to offer. The loft is extremely spacious and Dan was an exceptionally gracious host. As a former resident of Wilmington, I would recommend this spot for anyone who wants an authentic experience of the city. We will definitely return to this loft on future trips.

  • Pontiac Place is so-called because it used to be a Pontiac dealership in the 1940s. The space is now broken up into lofts. Dan's place is at the back (off the street, although it looks out onto several parking lots) and is very quiet, on the whole. It is spacious and has 2 full bathrooms (one with a shower & tub, one with a standing shower). Tons of windows allow the space to be very light and open feeling. The bed was comfortable. The location is perfect for walking around the historic downtown area and we were never more than 5 - 10 minutes from coffee, bars, restaurants and museums. There is also a covered parking space in the garage which was perfect since we had a car. The kitchen is outfitted with dishes, glasses, pots & pans and appliances, but there wasn't mucj in the cupboards, so you'll have to hit Trader Joe's if you want to do any cooking. Dan was EXCELLENT with his communications and instructions and incredibly attentive if we needed anything. I could not think of a better place to stay for our first time in Wilmington!

  • Pontiac Place was a wonderful place to stay. Very clean, private, safe, cozy and comfortable. It turned out to be the perfect place to stay while moving my daughter to college.

  • Fantastically Superb! Had everything we needed to enjoy a nice 3 day holiday in Wilmington. The whole place was spotless. Bathrooms clean enough for the Queen of England. Dan was very helpful, check in and check out went extremely smooth.

Definitely would stay here again, and would recommend others to stay as well!

  • Super cute and conveniently located spot in Wilmington. My family and I went for a weekend for a soccer tournament. Dan's place was very spacious and cozy. So much better than staying in a hotel! The place has a full kitchen with all dishes and cookware you need. It was easy to find, getting into the building was easy, and parking was easy. Dan was very easy to deal with and accommodating. I will definitely stay here if we make another trip to Wilmington.

My wife and I are freelance writers who chose to move from San Francisco to Wilmington 10+ years ago and have never looked back. We love the beach and the river; the ocean is 85 degrees in summer. If you've never been here before, you're in for a treat. Downtown Wilmington is a very hip, happening place. There are two dozen great restaurants and a dozen live music venues within five blocks (yet our property is extremely quiet). It's got the third largest historical district in the southeast (after Charleston and Savannah) and for our money, the nicest. It's great to be able to go out at night in the summer when Wilmington is hopping and not have to worry about finding a parking spot or driving home.
