Our guesthouse was finished in 2012 and was designed by award winning architects IDEAoffice. It sits on a hillside with views of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory. The guesthouse has a full private bath, a kitchen, air conditioning and heating. It has a rooftop deck with a hammock for lounging. There is a queen sized bed and a convertible couch that can be either one or two twin beds or combined to be a double bed. The house is nestled in the quiet Elysian Heights area of Echo Park, we are close to all the great restaurants and attractions of Downtown L.A., Silverlake, Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley. We are next to one of L.A.'s largest parks with miles and miles of trails. There is easy access from the guest house to all the major movie studios as well as University of Southern California. If you are into culture, we are close to MOCA, Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Ahmanson Theater. If you like sports, you can walk to Dodger Stadium or take a short drive to Staples Center. If you are in town for a convention, the L.A. Convention Center is just down the freeway.
Guest can use the roof deck (which is NOT available for guest use between June 8th and August 22nd), hammock and seating on the deck. The pool is always off limits to guests.
We prefer to give our guests privacy and to maintain our own privacy. Therefore, unless there is a need for meeting in person, we will always communicate by text or email.
Elysian Heights is a diverse neighborhood full of families that have lived in the community for generations, newly arrived transplants from other cities, and folks who have decided to raise there kids in this community conscious corner of L.A.
There are buses available on Sunset Blvd., down the hill that can take you to metro stations but by far, getting around by car is your best bet.
Make sure that you don't park your car facing uphill on Avon Street. You are likely to get a ticket if you do.

Sue and Gideon's hillside guesthouse was wonderful and exactly what my boyfriend and I had expected. We loved the open design of the space and beautiful views of downtown LA. We met Sue during one of the nights I was staying there, and she was very warm and welcoming.
The reservation was canceled 61 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Gideon and Sue were great hosts, and the guest house was everything that it was promised to be. The location near the park was great for us.
Perfect hillside spot with a killer view!
This stay worked out well. It was right up the hill from my son and his family, and provided a peaceful respite from all the activity. I never actually met Sue and Gideon, it was all done via email, and everything went well. I'll stay there again in the future. Bed was comfortable, nice light, near hiking if I'd had the time.
Didn't get to meet Sue or Gideon, but they maintained excellent communication and I felt I could have reached them at any moment. The home was exactly as it is pictured - and the neighborhood was so much fun. Great location, lots of things to do and we got to go back to this quiet hillside retreat every night. Beautiful home with a very relaxing vibe, thanks again!
we came for a wedding and loved staying in the neighborhood.Eco park . Great coffes hops within walking distance.
the place was exactly as described , perfect for two people.
No tv though but we enjoyed the modern feel of the spacethe view was fantastic... the bed was so comfortable...
Thanks a lot
Sue & Gideon's place is really big, clean, well located and has a nice view on L.A.
You can enjoy the terrace roof with drink, all dough it was between 90 and 100 F degrees (30 à 38 C) and soooo hot up there, we didn't stay much up there.
Sue always answered quickly to our questions by text (unfortunately we couldn't meet them, they where out of town)
They have a book with recommendations for the house and very good addresses in the neighborhood that are pretty convenient! We specially enjoyed the "Fix Coffee" for breakfast.
We actually had a bad time to leave L.A., we love it over and definitely go back!
We arrived at this destination high up in the hills of Echo Park.
Beautiful scenery and sunsets from the bnb upon our arrival.
The place was extremely quiet and Sue and Gideon mentioned that they were out of town so the grounds were extremely quiet and peaceful all 4 nights we were there.
