Easy access to NW Portland, downtown and the west hills. Very walkable! Great space to relax in comfort when you're done exploring.

The Space

The studio is located in the lower level of our home and is accessed by an exterior stairway. It features a queen sized bed, private full bath, comfortable seating area, kitchenette and bistro table.

The kitchenette has a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, hot plate, toaster, coffee maker and dish ware; perfect for snacks and light meals.

The unit has good light and is very clean. You'll also enjoy a private deck with its own seating area.

Guest Access

You can expect to find a comfortable, welcoming space where you can spread out, relax and then explore the nearby amenities at your own pace.

If stairs are an issue, this may not be the best choice. The unit is accessed by two flights of exterior stairs.

Interaction with Guests

Come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing us as you have your own entrance. Enjoy the ability to wander anywhere downtown with ease while being nestled in one of Portland's most historic and charming neighborhoods.

I am happy to advise you as much as you want or just let you be. My goal is for you to be comfortable.

The Neighborhood

Located in the Goose Hollow Neighborhood, we are within an easy walking distance of the Goose Hollow Inn, coffee shops, cafes, Providence Park (home of the Portland Timbers and Thorns soccer teams), and NW 21st & 23rd AVE's.

Washington Park is a nice hike up the hill, where you'll find the International Rose Test Garden and the Japanese Garden. There is a shuttle service that will take you to the zoo.

Getting around

Both the red and blue line MAX train stops are one block to the south. It's an easy ride in from the airport or a quick trip downtown or to the Oregon Zoo. If you buy a MAX ticket it is also valid on the bus and streetcar lines.

Please see the House Rules section for details regarding street parking and parking permits.

Other Things to Note

Built in 1913, the property is listed on the national historic registry as the Clovis House. The home and studio underwent a complete renovation in 2012-13 and was saved as part of a development deal in order to build new townhomes on the empty lot next door.

Please note: There are several construction projects going on in our neighborhood, including one next door. Generally, work takes place from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and should be finished by the fall.

  • This apartment was all that we desired. Very clean and uncluttered and great bed and sofa. Just two blocks from the MAX was great for us.

  • I don't think you can pick a better spot in Portland (or the US). We've used airbnb quite a few times but Dave's studio was by far our best experience. Clean and beautiful, it's located in an ideal part of town. We were able to easily access all that Portland has to offer. Dave and his partner were kind and responsive. We had a small issue with the wifi not working when we arrived. Dave quickly responded by calling Comcast and fixing the problem (within an hour!) His studio is the perfect home base for a trip in Portland. You won't be disappointed by booking with him!

  • Dave's apartment is a great place for visitors to Portland. The neighbourhood is very quiet, but not "dead": There are lots of interesting pubs, restaurants and coffee shops around the corner or just a short walk away. Public transportation (which is great in Portland) is also just around the corner.

The studio itself is comfortable, very clean and actually a little bigger than it looks on the pictures. We especially enjoyed the private deck and the bathroom. There is some construction next door which leads to some noise during working hours, but they looked to be about done. So if you're reading this a few weeks or months from now, it should not be an issue anymore.

Dave and Roland are great hosts: They left us lots of recommendations for stuff to see in the area and were always very quick to answer our questions.

  • Lakshmi and I had a great time in Portland, thanks to the wonderful location of Dave's apartment. Close to the Rose garden, which happened to be in full bloom. Don't miss the Elephant Delicatessen, a few blocks from Dave's place. Strongly recommended if you are visiting Portland.

  • The studio was clean, spacious, and well decorated. The location is simply excellent. It's a perfect base to explore all of the downtown districts by foot. For more distant locations and the airport, the light rail line is only a few minutes walk away. Major grocery stores are about a 10 minute walk away. The studio is located in a beautiful, restored historic home and has a separate entry. As others have mentioned, you can hear foot traffic upstairs, but it is inconsequential.

  • They were particular about things like shoes and towels at checkout, but it paid off because their place was gorgeous, comfortable, and the cleanest we have seen.

  • This was our first Airbnb stay. The studio was located a quick walk away from the MAX light rail. It was clean and spacious, and located near a lot of eateries in the area. A bit like staying in a hotel.

There was construction going on next door at the time of our stay. It wasn't too distracting for us, but it can wake up lighter sleepers.

  • The Air BNB experience is always somewhat of a gamble. Luckily, Dave's studio in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland is a win. Inexplicably large for a studio (and accompanied by all the necessities, including fridge, dining area, and patio) and cleaner than many hotels, Dave's studio was the perfect spot for a "home base" during our week's stay in Portland. The rate was reasonable, Dave was clear and concise in his communication, and the location was excellent- just steps away from Public Transportation, dining, and an excellent German coffee house whose breakfast sandwiches are not to be missed.

The studio IS located beneath someone's home, so you will get the occasional noise from upstairs, but it isn't anything you're not used to if you live or lived in an apartment building.

We would definitely stay here again, and recommend you do so as well!

  • This was my first time using airbnb and I could not have been happier. We arrived to find a lovely, spacious studio that we quickly settled into. Everything we needed was provided in this clean, nicely decorated space. Goose Hollow Studio was very comfortable and was ideally located near the center of town. Quiet nights for sleeping, breakfast out on the deck and much more. There was great communication with the host which made for a perfect 3 days. I would highly recommend this beautiful space.
