Goose Hollow Studio-great location!

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Southwest Madison Street, Portland, OR 97205, United States

Easy access to NW Portland, downtown and the west hills. Very walkable! Great space to relax in comfort when you're done exploring.

The Space

The studio is located in the lower level of our home and is accessed by an exterior stairway. It features a queen sized bed, private full bath, comfortable seating area, kitchenette and bistro table.

The kitchenette has a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, hot plate, toaster, coffee maker and dish ware; perfect for snacks and light meals.

The unit has good light and is very clean. You'll also enjoy a private deck with its own seating area.

Guest Access

You can expect to find a comfortable, welcoming space where you can spread out, relax and then explore the nearby amenities at your own pace.

If stairs are an issue, this may not be the best choice. The unit is accessed by two flights of exterior stairs.

Interaction with Guests

Come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing us as you have your own entrance. Enjoy the ability to wander anywhere downtown with ease while being nestled in one of Portland's most historic and charming neighborhoods.

I am happy to advise you as much as you want or just let you be. My goal is for you to be comfortable.

The Neighborhood

Located in the Goose Hollow Neighborhood, we are within an easy walking distance of the Goose Hollow Inn, coffee shops, cafes, Providence Park (home of the Portland Timbers and Thorns soccer teams), and NW 21st & 23rd AVE's.

Washington Park is a nice hike up the hill, where you'll find the International Rose Test Garden and the Japanese Garden. There is a shuttle service that will take you to the zoo.

Getting around

Both the red and blue line MAX train stops are one block to the south. It's an easy ride in from the airport or a quick trip downtown or to the Oregon Zoo. If you buy a MAX ticket it is also valid on the bus and streetcar lines.

Please see the House Rules section for details regarding street parking and parking permits.

Other Things to Note

Built in 1913, the property is listed on the national historic registry as the Clovis House. The home and studio underwent a complete renovation in 2012-13 and was saved as part of a development deal in order to build new townhomes on the empty lot next door.

Please note: There are several construction projects going on in our neighborhood, including one next door. Generally, work takes place from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and should be finished by the fall.

  • Dave was so accommodating and his studio was perfect. Incredibly clean, well decorated and comfortable. The place looks better in person if you can believe it! Would certainly stay here again - thanks again Dave!

  • My wife and I have a wonderful 2-night stay at Dave's studio. The place is very clean and well-kept, especially the gorgeous bathroom. It's in a great location, close enough to downtown to be convenient but far enough away to feel quaint.

We had a rental car so can't comment on public transportation access, but there are tons of street parking spots available should you need. Parking is only free for 2-hours max starting from 7am, but Dave is very gracious to provide street passes for $5/day should you need.

As mentioned in the listing and in other reviews, there was construction right next door that starts around 8am every day. So until that's done, do bring ear plugs if you plan on sleeping in.

Overall a great stay and a great host!

  • Perfect experience. The studio was very clean and had everything I needed. I'll certainly return if I can.

  • Portland was a great place to visit. I stayed a week and have never eaten better in my life! The Goose Hollow Studio was comfortable and clean, and very convenient to get around town being just a block off the Max, 2 blocks from several great restaurant choices, and 4 blocks from a grocery. I could not have asked for better accommodations.

  • This was one of the best studios we have stayed in. The location is great, it is easy to come and go, and the apartment is tastefully and professionally decorated. We had to arrive late but Dave left the keys for us and explained how to get in. He provided us with parking permits and it was very easy to park.

We drove to downtown but you could easily walk or take public transportation if you wanted to. We were lucky to be there on Saturday and experience the amazing Portland Farmer's Market by the university. We explored downtown and also walked up to the park and Japanese Gardens right up the hill from the apartment. It was a perfectly clear day and we got a great view of Mount Hood and Mount Saint Helens. The Goose Hollow Inn is a great restaurant/bar right around the corner from the apartment where we enjoyed pitchers of local beer and great pizza.

Thank you for the wonderful stay in Portland. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely come back next time we are in town!

  • Dave's suite was exactly as I expected: clean, spacious and in close proximity to downtown. Parking was straightforward and inexpensive. I only used my car to drive outside of downtown since many of my destinations were within 15-20 minute walk of Goose Hollow.

Dave was pleasant to communicate with before and during our stay -- you can tell by his organization (guidebook and house rules) and attention to detail that he clearly has a lot of experience hosting people at his place.

We had lots of sun come through our windows in the morning; be sure to wear the sleeping mask (stored in side dresser) if you are easily awaken by sunlight! There's also a home being constructed next door at the moment so you might need ear plugs if you intend on sleeping in past 8:00/9:00am. Wifi occasionally cut in and out so we had to move around to suite to get a good signal.

Overall staying at Dave's place was like staying at a fancy modern hotel suite. Fully equipped kitchen, dining table, super comfy sofa bed, huge bed, clean linens. Wouldn't bother looking anywhere else for my next stay in Portland; would definitely book again!

  • Dave's studio was immaculate and the location can't be beat. Everything was in mint condition and completely clean, comfortable and wonderful. The back porch was an asset and it was so easy for us to walk around town. Dave had great communication with us regarding our stay and we really hope to return for another visit. Much better than a hotel room by far.

  • This studio is in an excellent location and the furnishings are great. Dave's place had everything that we needed, and is close to the MAX. Also, he is absolutely efficient and accommodating when it comes to communication. Will definitely be looking forward to staying here the next time we're in Portland.

  • Dave's studio was very clean and comfortable and located in a great spot downtown right near the bus and the Max. No car needed to get around from there. My first Airbnb experience was great! Thanks Dave!
