The Space

Nice bedroom with double bed in a flat in the city center of Paris, 3 minutes walking from the historical Le Marais area. All-equipped kitchen, bathroom, living room. Three other French people lives in the flat! We call our flat "La Maison du bonheur", which would be "House of Happiness" in English, which means that the atmosphere is very nice and friendly. We usually not only host the guests, but we like to go out to bars and show them the area and the nice places where to go to. We all speak English!

  • It was the perfect experience for me in Paris staying here! Not near any touristy areas so I could truly enjoy my time exploring all the alleys. Love the view outside the window too every morning when I woke up. The room itself is very nicely furnished, clean and comfortable as well.

Suzanne and her flatmates were all very welcoming and friendly. All great people really! I wished I had more time there so I can really get to know them better.

All in all I only have good things to say about my stay here (: thanks a lot Suzanne! I hope to go back to Paris again real soon.

  • The apt was perfect for my trip! The neighborhood had plenty of restaurants and bars, and several metro stops were close by. All of the flatmates were friendly as well as helpful. I would stay there again if I go back to Paris.

  • I had a good stay. Although I didn't get to meet Suzanne we coordinated everything by email easily and she responded quickly. Her roommate Marc greeted me upon checking. Good links to transport. Thanks!

  • I recently returned from a wonderful stay in Paris, made all the more enjoyable thanks to my time using Suzanne's flat as my home base. The location is ideal, just entering the 11th from Le Marais. I enjoyed getting a feel for a typical Parisian flat, as well as walking the streets in this artistic and gentrified area of the city. Just five minutes away is one of the most delicious creperies: West Country Girl. (Be sure and check it out!) There is an exquisite view out of your room's window, which on my arrival perfectly framed a full moon. Charming indeed!

Suzanne and her flatmate who I met were so kind and helpful. (Even inviting me to join them for drinks in a friend's flat, when my own plans fell through.) You can tell they enjoy helping their guests and making your stay an enjoyable one. I really appreciated their kindness.

A few specifics. The flat is true to the pictures provided. I was able to use the kitchen, which was helpful in reducing expenses. And I had: ready access to wifi, consistent hot water., privacy, an ability to come and go without fear of disturbing others.

I was traveling solo and the area offered plenty of options late at night that made walking home safe for a woman traveling alone. (Oberkampf, one such well trafficked and lit pass thru.) Metro options are plentiful, and there's a local market two days a week walking distance.

I have no complaints, as my every need was met. But I will point out - this is a typical walk-up building and older neighborhood, so be prepared for stairs. (Gorgeous, sweeping staircase charmingly weathered...) And the bathroom while clean, is older. If you expect new, bright, shiny, then this flat is not for you. Think Brooklyn bohemian... versus Upper East Side condominium.

I so enjoyed my stay and am already wistfully planning how soon I can get myself back! Merci beaucoup Suzanne, Marc.

  • I had a very nice stay in Suzanne's apartment and would recommend this option to others. It was very easy to access the apartment via train from CDG and ORLY and, as there are several metro stations within close walking distance, it was also easy to travel via metro around the city. The room was very comfortable and spacious and had excellent heating and WiFi. While I did not have the chance to meet Suzanne, she was very kind and thorough in answering all of my questions via e-mail.

  • Suzanne and her flatmates Fanny and Marc were one of the loveliest people I've met on my trip. Upon my arrival, they made me a delicious dinner and always offered me tasty wine and other treats. The room is as described, cozy, clean, lived - in and comfortable. The location is incomparable, walking distance to Bastille, oberkampf, Le marais and easy to get to and from from any place on the subway. Thanks for your warm hospitality which made my first visit to Paris amazing!

  • Suzanne and her roommates were truly welcoming and provided an excellent environment (and great location!) for my stay. Suzanne met me at the apartment, set me up with a key, and invited me to help myself in their kitchen. I couldn't have wanted anything more and I hope to stay with them again!
