About this listing
The whole second floor of a three-flat, the apartment is spacious, sunny, and beautiful, with an original 1920s fireplace, bay windows, and small porch that overlooks a slice of the Chicago skyline. 1 br, and a super-comfortable convertible couch. Close to great bars, restaurants, and public transportation.
My apartment in Ukrainian Village/Wicker Park is a rarity: on a beautiful residential block with virtually no street noise and quiet neighbors, but within a 10-minute walk of all the bars and restaurants on North, Division, and Chicago.
My spare bedroom has a full size bed (fits two people), as well as a large closet. The sofa in the living room folds out into a very comfortable full-sized bed. (The couch is best for either one person or two people who are comfortable sleeping in close quarters.) For larger groups, I also have a queen-size air mattress that can go easily in the living room or office area (fits two people). The apartment can accommodate six guests if two are willing to share the couch; otherwise, it is best suited for five guests.
Interaction with Guests
I will be out of the apartment completely--it's all yours! But I'm more than happy to give you tips about the neighborhood, the city, or anything else. I've lived in this apartment for almost five years, and grew up in Chicago, so I know my way around pretty well.
A few of the places within walking distance of the apartment:
*Old Oak Tap
And there are plenty more. If you need any suggestions, just ask!
Just blocks from a large grocery store, multiple convenience stores, and laundromats.
Less than a fifteen-minute walk from either the Division or Damen Blue Line stops, which puts you within twenty minutes of downtown or further north to the awesome Logan Square neighborhood. The Blue Line also goes directly to O'Hare airport.
Three blocks to the Chicago bus, a twenty-minute bus ride to Michigan Avenue and River North. Three blocks to the Division bus, a twenty-minute ride to Old Town/the Gold Coast.
There is free and metered parking near the apartment.
Other Things to Note
I'm happy to rent to people who are coming into town for the final Dead show! But I'm not kidding when I say NO PARTIES.
My building has just two other people living in it, one of whom is my landlord. Groups and normal amounts of noise are totally fine--it isn't a convent. But no crazy parties, please.
No smoking in the apartment, please. I have a porch where you can go if you'd like to smoke.
Leigh provided us with lots of information on the area, as well as detailed information on our options for getting there. Her instructions to get into her place were clear and easy to follow. She warned us about a sticky door situation, and her landlord helped us with that as well.
Great place and location. Streets just north and south have lots of places for eating, etc. Easy walk to Blue Line. Leigh was flexible with our schedule.
My girlfriend and I were in our car on our way from Michigan to Chicago when our original booking was canceled. We frantically searched airbnb for an alternative, contacted ten different places with our specifications (including two pets!), and Leigh was the only person to answer our call for help. She left her job early, cleaned the apartment, and was ready for us only a few hours after we booked her place.
The apartment exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable, beautiful, and quaint (as advertised)! The blue-line stop was about a 10-15 minute walk, but the neighborhood felt very safe and cool restaurants lined the streets.
Leigh was kind and helpful, and only stuck around for a few minutes to show us around. She responded within minutes to every message we sent, then disappeared completely to let us enjoy our time.
Overall, our experience was stress-free and wonderful. I highly recommend Leigh's gorgeous apartment!
Leight's apartment is charming and well-located. She was responsive and easy going. We had a great stay.
Leigh was an excellent host - communicative, accomodating to my changing schedule, and pleasant as can be. Her place was lovely and well located. Absolutely no regrets.
We were visiting Chicago for our daughter's wedding. Leigh was a great host - allowed us to pick up the keys early! Her apartment is reminiscent of her many travels & the fold down couch is spacious & very comfortable for sleeping & the bedroom was nice too! Ukrainian Village is wonderful & we were right down the street from Homestead Restaurant on the rooftop of Roots, for the reception.
Great experience! Leigh is a great and accommodating host. She was very communicative and everything went smoothly. The location of the apartment is perfect, close to lots of fun stuff (restaurants, bars, boutiques, public transportation) and not too far from the downtown area and other attractions. Everyone left with a great impression of Chicago.
