About this listing
This beautiful, bright and sunny studio apartment is the perfect place for a quiet vacation or a romantic weekend get-away. It is part of a 200 year old farmhouse, but is a separate and private space. It is bright and spacious in summer, cozy and warm in winter, and glorious in the fall. You will find everything you need to leave behind the hustle and bustle of your busy life, and spend some quiet time in beautiful rural Vermont. The afternoon sun pours in the large old windows, and the wide pine floors glow honey gold. You can relax with a good book, nap in the comfy bed, cook a meal in the fully but simply appointed kitchen, or soak in the tub. If you need to work, you will have all the quiet you need, plus good cell coverage and high-speed wireless internet. You can come and go as you please, and have as much contact with homeowner as you want. There is a shared main entrance, but the studio is a separate space.
The studio consists of a good sized living/bedroom with a comfy full size bed, plus a brand new fold out full-size sleeper for extra guests or your little one. The kitchen is equipped for cooking simple meals, with service for 4. The full bath is roomy and the bathtub is great for soaking. Two thick robes are on the door for your comfort.
The flower-covered front porch is the perfect place to dream away a summer afternoon. Lie in the hammock with a book, or have your morning coffee at the outdoor table while listening to the birdsong and the neighborhood roosters. Venture out through the meandering pathways into secret gardens, ponds, and fruit trees. Fill your bucket with delicious sun-warmed raspberries, and pick vegetables straight from the garden for your supper.
Situated in a quiet and friendly rural neighborhood, you are but minutes from I-91, and 20 minutes from the Upper Valley. Hartland is a quaint Vermont town, with a diner, yoga studio, general store, library, gas station (with a surprisingly good wine selection), a Unitarian Universalist and a Congregational church, and a fantastic farmer's market on Fridays. There are miles of dirt roads right outside the door, to wander and get lost (I can give you a map!), or hop on your mountain bike and be gone for an afternoon. Hartland has an amazing network of miles and miles of public access cross-country ski trails, so if you come in the winter do bring your skis or snow-shoes. I can also tell you where to rent some.
Studio is walking distance to town, and is a ten minute walk to the Skunk Hollow Tavern, where you can enjoy a pub meal downstairs or head upstairs for a romantic dining experience in an historic old tavern. Put your dancing shoes on for a Friday night with some of the best live bands around, or enjoy open mic night on Wednesdays.
Historic Windsor, with its shops, restaurants, museums, river adventure company, bike shop, the Harpoon Brewery, a brand new craft vodka distillery, and one of the longest and most photographed covered bridges in the world, is minutes away. In the other direction you'll find Woodstock, just 20 minutes away. Woodstock has been voted one of the most beautiful towns in the US and is full of lovely shops and restaurants, covered bridges, the Billings Farm and Museum, galleries, and antique shops - it is quintessential Vermont.
The Upper Valley, also 20 minutes away, consists of towns on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Vermont and New Hampshire. You will find restaurants to suit all tastes, wonderful shops and many tourist attractions. Hanover, New Hampshire and Dartmouth College are here, and so is the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier hospital and health care center. The King Arthur Baking Store and School is just up the road and offers a beautiful new shop that is a baker's dream, and also offers baking classes throughout the year. Vermont Law School is a 25 minute drive.
There are numerous smaller ski areas within a half an hour, and Killington, the "beast of the east" is just a 40 minute drive, through picturesque hills and forest. Rivers, lakes, hiking trails, miles of mountain biking roads and trails, and several premier distance running and biking races and events make this the perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast.
Play hard, see the sights, go to meetings or medical appointments, put in a day on the slopes, or just meander the back roads and rivers of this beautiful part of Vermont, and then return home for a peaceful and quiet rest in your own comfortable little space.
Children are more than welcome in this space - with advance notice toys, games and snacks will be provided.
This home is a welcoming space and is lgbtq friendly.

There is nothing fancy here, but there is all that you need - that's why it feels like home.

Nancy's home is lovely and comfortable. The studio is extremely comfortable and well appointed. Nancy met us at the door and welcomed us in, showed us around and because it was later, left us to settle in. Her home is comfortable and we were well cared for with yogurt and eggs left in the fridge for our early departure. I highly recommend Nancy and her home!
We had quite the trip driving across stunning New Hampshire and we were super happy to arrive at Nancy's lovely house just as the last light was fading over Hartland. Nancy was a very gracious host and has a very nice property - she clearly spends a lot of time working on her garden and her house. The apartment is a more than ample size with a kitchen and a big bathroom. There was local coffee and cream provided which we really enjoyed. The bed is comfortable and it is blissfully quiet out in country side. There are board games provided as well as books if you are staying in for the day. There is a nice brewery, Haproon, down the road in Windsor and also a distillery and local cheese and sundries store. If I had been staying longer I would have enjoyed cycling in the area and spending more time seeing the local sights. Thank you Nancy for being such a nice host!
Nancy's countryside retreat was absolutely what we needed. After a long drive it was relaxing, laid back and she was an excellent host. We went for a hike in wooded trails behind her house. Then went down to the local pub in Hartland where we saw live music and had a great dinner. Nancy was extremely friendly and very laid back. I wish we had more time here, but was only here for a night. Thanks again for everything!
We loved staying in this charming old farmhouse in Vermont! Sunny, private with nice kitchen, wonderful porch, cozy linens, very cheerful. We especially appreciated the fresh eggs and Vermont yoghurt in the refrigerator for our breakfast! Would stay here longer if we could. Nancy was friendly and welcoming.
This is my all time favorite AirBnB experience! Nancy's home is a retreat/forest wonderland. We loved the clean and homey country vibe, the Treehouse Living book, the local cream, and the land. It's really magical, this place. As we roamed around we discovered Nancy's pond, a hidden swing, a workable outdoor clawfoot tub, and too many delightful sculptures and art to list! The room just FELT good. The bed felt good. The towels were great, not cheap. Although we never physically met, Nancy was friendly and responsive to our texts; my wife and I felt like we'd be friends with her if we ever did meet! Also, I have terrible allergies and am scent-sensitive--I didn't have any problems in her home.
Nancy is a lovely and very welcoming host. The space is beautiful, clean, bright and cosy. She was very responsive during the reservation process and during our stay she checked in with us just the right amount. She gave us great restaurant and area recommendations. It was such a great stay!
Nancy was great! The studio was super clean and bright, and after a long night and day of travel, it was the perfect place to be. At night we strolled the quiet dirt roads to a neighborhood pub (suggested by Nancy) and had a fantastic time meeting some locals, drinking awesome beer and dining. We wanted to stay longer!
