This beautiful, bright and sunny studio apartment is the perfect place for a quiet vacation or a romantic weekend get-away. It is part of a 200 year old farmhouse, but is a separate and private space. It is bright and spacious in summer, cozy and warm in winter, and glorious in the fall. You will find everything you need to leave behind the hustle and bustle of your busy life, and spend some quiet time in beautiful rural Vermont. The afternoon sun pours in the large old windows, and the wide pine floors glow honey gold. You can relax with a good book, nap in the comfy bed, cook a meal in the fully but simply appointed kitchen, or soak in the tub. If you need to work, you will have all the quiet you need, plus good cell coverage and high-speed wireless internet. You can come and go as you please, and have as much contact with homeowner as you want. There is a shared main entrance, but the studio is a separate space.
The studio consists of a good sized living/bedroom with a comfy full size bed, plus a brand new fold out full-size sleeper for extra guests or your little one. A pack & play for babies is available upon request. The kitchen is equipped for cooking simple meals, with service for 4. The full bath is roomy and the bathtub is great for soaking. Two thick robes are on the door for your comfort.
The flower-covered front porch is the perfect place to dream away a summer afternoon. Lie in the hammock with a book, or have your morning coffee at the outdoor table while listening to the birdsong and the neighborhood roosters. Venture out through the meandering pathways into secret gardens, ponds, and fruit trees. Fill your bucket with delicious sun-warmed raspberries, and pick vegetables straight from the garden for your supper.
Situated in a quiet and friendly rural neighborhood, you are but minutes from I-91, and 20 minutes from the Upper Valley. Hartland is a quaint Vermont town, with a diner, yoga studio, general store, library, gas station (with a surprisingly good wine selection), a Unitarian Universalist and a Congregational church, and a fantastic farmer's market on Fridays. There are miles of dirt roads right outside the door, to wander and get lost (I can give you a map!), or hop on your mountain bike and be gone for an afternoon. Hartland has an amazing network of miles and miles of public access cross-country ski trails, so if you come in the winter do bring your skis or snow-shoes. I can also tell you where to rent some.
Studio is walking distance to town, and is a ten minute walk to the Skunk Hollow Tavern, where you can enjoy a pub meal downstairs or head upstairs for a romantic dining experience in an historic old tavern. Put your dancing shoes on for a Friday night with some of the best live bands around, or enjoy open mic night on Wednesdays.
Historic Windsor, with its shops, restaurants, museums, river adventure company, bike shop, the Harpoon Brewery, a brand new craft vodka distillery, and one of the longest and most photographed covered bridges in the world, is minutes away. In the other direction you'll find Woodstock, just 20 minutes away. Woodstock has been voted one of the most beautiful towns in the US and is full of lovely shops and restaurants, covered bridges, the Billings Farm and Museum, galleries, and antique shops - it is quintessential Vermont.
The Upper Valley, also 20 minutes away, consists of towns on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Vermont and New Hampshire. You will find restaurants to suit all tastes, wonderful shops and many tourist attractions. Hanover, New Hampshire and Dartmouth College are here, and so is the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier hospital and health care center. The King Arthur Baking Store and School is just up the road and offers a beautiful new shop that is a baker's dream, and also offers baking classes throughout the year. Vermont Law School is a 25 minute drive.
There are numerous smaller ski areas within a half an hour, and Killington, the "beast of the east" is just a 40 minute drive, through picturesque hills and forest. Rivers, lakes, hiking trails, miles of mountain biking roads and trails, and several premier distance running and biking races and events make this the perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast.
Play hard, see the sights, go to meetings or medical appointments, put in a day on the slopes, or just meander the back roads and rivers of this beautiful part of Vermont, and then return home for a peaceful and quiet rest in your own comfortable little space.
Children are more than welcome in this space - with advance notice toys, games and snacks will be provided.
This home is a welcoming space and is lgbtq friendly.
Sorry, but no pets are allowed. But, don't worry - Maya, the ten year old friendly golden retriever will not mind a bit if you are feeling the need to do some dog petting!
There is nothing fancy here, but there is all that you need - that's why it feels like home.
Had a great stay! The house is cozy and Nancy left us delicious local snacks. She was also incredibly easy flexible when we needed to delay our departure time. Thanks Nancy!
We had a wonderful stay in Nancy's apartment. The space was beautiful, well organized, and clean, and Nancy left us some local treats for breakfast as well as snow shoes to borrow. Highly recommended!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this sweet spot. The studio apartment is clean and thoughtfully laid out. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding towns and for going for beautiful walks right outside the door. Nancy was friendly and the perfect hostess....we knew she was there if we needed any assistance, but she totally gave us our privacy.
Very nice space- I would go again and recommend it to other people.
We had a lovely (short) stay with Nancy on a cold winter's night on Dec. 31st. The apartment was impeccably clean and thoughtfully prepared (games, reading material, even local products in the fridge) by a host with a clear gift for hospitality and just the right amount of being "present". A wonderful and relaxing place to welcome in the New Year!
Nancy's studio apartment is lovely! It was very clean and quiet. It was also very easy to find. She was welcoming, but not overbearing and provided us with board games at our request. She left us eggs and fruit for breakfast and we brought along some food to make our own meals. The bed was super comfy and the apartment was warm. It was an extremely relaxing night in a lovely area.
We were looking for a Vermont getaway and we came across this great apartment. We looked at a lot of places and this one had the best price and location. The studio is really spacious with its own kitchen and bathroom and the little treats (chocolates, clementines) were a very nice touch. Nancy was a great hostess who even went out of her way to find some skating locales and other sights to see. There is glassblowing, tons of winter sports, & maple/cheese farms with many free samples, all a quick drive away. We'll definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Vermont again.
Traveling to such a small town presented limited options in regards to overnight accommodations so I was thrilled to discover Nancy's wonderful home and the attached efficiently apartment. It was ideal for me: close to my family that I was visiting and, honestly, it was perfect in every way. It was super clean, not frilly like some B&B's can be, quiet, and warm (rental controls the thermostat). Nancy was super attentive and responsive to all my questions. She even stocked the frig with a few nice things: locally pressed apple cider (delicious?), fresh eggs, cheese, and other things...a super nice thing to do. Highly recommended to one and all.
To Nancy: Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality and sharing your home via Airbnb!
We were greeted immediately by her sweet dogs. Nancy showed us around the apartment and was very helpful suggesting places tp get a late night dinner. Much to our surprise she left us some food in the refrigerator. We had a great time in the area and the apartment felt like home quickly. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed spending 12 days at Nancy's home, which is so cozy, just the sort of place we were looking for, and very conveniently located : close to a lot of beautiful spots in Vermont, and also 20 minutes driving from Hanover, where our son is spending one year.Nancy did her best to make us feel comfortable when we arrived, there were things in the fridge for breakfast and flowers on the table.
We recommend this place and would certainly like to come back.
