Hi, Not too many rules, the main one being just to be respectful of neighbours when coming home at night, Please keep the noise down as much as poss, no smoking in the flat but on the balcony is fine. Thanks
Daniels flat was the perfect place for me to stay. I visited Barcelona for 10 days alone and it was in the ideal location to use as a home base. I walked to almost every sight the city has and the metro was so close to get to anything I couldn't walk to. It was equipped with everything I needed. As a woman traveling alone I felt safe 100% of the time in the apartment and in the neighborhood.
Daniel was a very responsive host and gave me a great overview at check in so I understood where I was and even helped me figure out the best way to get to rthe flat from the airport.
I speak no Spanish or Catalan and because this location is in the "tourist" part of town I never had any trouble finding people who could help me.
The bed is pretty firm, which is the only thing that wasn't ideal for me (but that is just a personal preference) but I still slept fine. I didn't close the doors to the balconies once the whole trip and the street noise was never a problem. One night there was a street party in the whole neighborhood and even that night was lovely.
Also there is the falafel place across La Rambla on carrer ferran called Maoz. It's really good.
Thanks so much!!
Dan was a great host. He met us early as we took a red eye from the States. He suggested we take the blue aerobus from the airport to Plaza Catalunya which was so easy and under 6 euro each and then a 10 minute walk to the apt. The apt is exactly as pictured. The location is ideal, we walked everywhere. We were there mid July and even with no AC the place was comfortable to sleep at night with a fan and the windows open. My girlfriend appreciated there was a hairdryer to use since the whole adapter/converter situation for larger appliances can be tricky. The wifi worked perfectly. We really enjoyed our stay!
Daniel was excellent as a host - he sent us the directions from the airport ahead of time, and he waited to meet us with the keys, despite our late flight. He was super friendly, and gave us some pointers of what are nice things to see.
The flat is very central, and this has some pro's and con's.
The pro's are that it's easy to get around via walking, and it's also right next to the metro, just maybe 400 meters away. Very easy to get around, and a good base for exploring Barcelona.
The downside is that it is VERY noisy at night, with a load of drunk people walking down the street and yelling and/or talking loudly at 3am +, making it hard to sleep. Also, the flat doesn't have any air conditioning (it does have two fans), which makes it super hot, so you have to leave the windows closed, despite the heat, if you want a good night's sleep.
The flat itself is pretty good, but could have been a bit cleaner in the bathroom (mirror was dirty, some dirty grouting, dirty terrace floor (dried food/drink) etc.) . There's a good enough kitchen, a fairly sparse lounge room, and bedroom. I'd not particularly call it "romantic", but it's pretty good. The furnishings are quite minimal. The terrace, however, is great to sit on for breakfast and early evening drinks. It's small, but quaint!
Also, Daniel was super flexible on check-out times, and just a fun and helpful guy. I'd give 5* to the host :)
Overall, a GREAT host and a good stay.
Daniel was a great host. Flat was as pictured. Is in a fantastic location. Would recommend.
I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights with my husband and we had a great time. The best thing about the place is the location. We walked everywhere and never needed to get the train or a taxi. Daniel was very helpful and kind and took the time to chat to us about the apartment and best things to see during our stay. He was very welcoming and didn't mind that we arrived earlier than the check-in time. The apartment itself is spacious and light and we loved sitting out on the sunny balcony. It is well equipped with everything and it was great to be able to do some washing as we had been traveling for a while beforehand.
We had a little bit of trouble with the lock as it is quite fiddly, however this did not negatively affect our stay at all.
Daniel was exceptionally welcoming. There was an unfortunate incident in which the key to the flat had broken but Daniel handled it competently and graciously.
He put us up in a local hotel and even left us wine and chocolates to make up for the fact that we could not get in unto the next day.
Our first visit to Barcelona and it was excellent! Great central location only a few hundred metres off las rambles. With easy access to metro stations. The apartment itself was spacious and very clean, it was perfect for what we needed. Daniel was an excellent host, doing his best to allow us to check in a bit early on arrival to carrying my wife's suitcase to the metro station when we were leaving due to an unexpected delay which meant we had to rush. He really went above and beyond.
About the Host, Daniel
Hi, I have been living in Barcelona with my girlfriend for over a year now, we were previously living in palma de Mallorca but we are both originally from the UK. If I'm not in work I will either be playing football or walking our little dogs messy and Poppy.
