Connemara, with its combination of rugged mountains, spectacular scenery, numerous lakes and wild Atlantic coast, is a very special area.
There is no public transport so a car is essential.
Just perfect. Bowen's house is highly recommended for everyone who loves nature. Located in the most beautiful area of Ireland with dramatic scenery. Wonderful, isolated beaches and great hiking in the mountains. The fantastic Kylemore Abbey close by.
Simply the best holiday for our family, 2 adults and 4 kids.
Bowen was very helpful and friendly, and the house is big and very cosy.
Could not be more happy about our stay :-)
The house is really nice, and the place is really quiet and wilderness. Even if there is 7 people, there would be enough space in the house. Everything works fine (laundry, wifi, tv ...) and its really appreciated. There is even a beach nearby where you can pick up mussels (the best we ever had...). Bowen was not present, but Lex and her mother where really kind and nice. Definitly a good place for anyone to stay, we highly recommend it.
The house was just perfect. We were welcomed with flowers, fresh baked bread, and a relaxed and friendly host to answer questions about the area. The location is amazing, right next to an inlet which was terrific to explore with young kids. It's 5 minutes drive from a sandy beach and there are a number of beautiful walks in the the area. The house was clean and well provisioned. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Bowen and Lex are congenial hosts and made us feel very welcome with freshly home made soda bread and a tour of the house and plenty of information about the local area. When we had used the peat and wood to make a fire, they generously provided us with more supplies. The house is very comfortable and as described. There were only 3 of us but the house sleeps plenty more. The surrounding area is very beautiful and we would love to have more time to explore the region. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it to others.
Three adults, two teenagers and dog all had a splendid time here. The location is perfectly lovely and the house was ideal for us; larger even than we had expected. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, everything worked, and we were delighted with the DVDs, books and games that were provided. Bowen is a very pleasant man - and the brown bread left out for us on arrival was delicious, and very welcome. Highly recommended.
