The Space

Welcome to the treehouse! This is the lower unit of a duplex that is nestled in a little valley in Sausalito. It's on a hillside, surrounded by giant eucalyptus trees that are covered in vines. Down below you can sometimes hear the babbling creek, and the deck (email hidden) to have your morning coffee or tea, while sitting in the sun and watching the trees sway in the breeze.

The apartment is small and quaint with one bathroom and two bedrooms. One bedroom is available for a maximum of 2 people. There is a living room with a wood-burning fireplace, and a small kitchen and dining area. You will have your own cozy room to cuddle up in at night.

If and when possible, I will pick you up at the bus station at "Spencer Avenue/Monte Mar Drive" or from the ferry drop off, from San Francisco.

When I am there, every morning you will have a fresh pot of coffee waiting for you, and a selection of lovely teas. I will usually have scones, toast, fruit and cereal. You are welcome to use the kitchen, I just ask that you help to keep it tidy and clean up afterwards.

I can direct you to the best local places, as there is plenty to see and do in Sausalito and San Francisco! You can walk to downtown to visit the shops and fantastic array of restaurants, take a bus or a ferry to San Francisco for the day, ride a sailboat around Angel Island for sunset, rent and ride a bike over the Golden Gate bridge into San Francisco, kayak or paddle board around the house boats of Sausalito, or hike in the Marin Headlands to see sweeping views of the bay, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge! And these are only a few of the many things to do. You may also choose to take a trip to Sonoma or Napa, for a day of wine tasting.

I welcome guests from around the world. I hope you will consider visiting this wonderful location, right in the middle of where you want to be and where you want to go!

If you are interested, please send me an email and tell me a little about yourself, who you are traveling with, and why you want to come to the Bay Area. And please share with me what you are looking for in a short or long term visit. Thanks!

Other Things to Note

IMPORTANT: The stairs coming down to the apartment have settled quite a bit and are slanted and uneven in places. This can be tricky for anyone who has physical challenges, particularly on stairs.

  • Erica's "Sausalito Treehouse" was lovely, and Erica is a wonderful hostess. The accommodations were perfect for us. We would inform future customers that there are some difficult stairs to negotiate---not a problem for us, but possibly for others. And if you're heavily into TV, you won't find it here. But Erica goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable, and it was a great pleasure to meet her!

  • I had a great time staying a week at Erica's Treehouse in April 2014.
Erica is a very attentive and considerate host, who goes out of her way to make your stay pleasurable.
The house is in a great location; it is very quiet at night, but is within (short) walking distance of most of Sausalito
I will stay here again next time I am in the San Francisco area :-)

  • I had a wonderful stay at Erica's amazingly located treehouse. Her home is cozy and welcoming.
Erica went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying my stay in Sausalito. She took me grocery shopping at Market Drivers and we went together to a great Sushi place.
For those that enjoy trail running, the location of her home is perfect to access the Marin Headlands National Park. You will also enjoy the privacy and seclusion of the hills to relax in her balcony and sip a cup of the amazing coffee that Erica will brew and treat you to - She makes the best cup of coffee ever. Period.
If you are planning to go to Sausalito, this is a great spot you want to try.. You will fall in love with the neighborhood the second you step on her balcony....Like someone else said in a previous review, it will be your Swiss Family Robinson experience!
    Thanks Erica!

  • This must be the perfect place to stay when visiting San Francisco and points north. The ferry to SFO is a short walk away and its location means you can do day trips to point Reyes, Sonoma, Napa etc.
The house is exquisitly set among beautiful woodlands and has a real sense of peace and tranquility.
Staying with Erica was like staying with someone who has been a friend for years. We enjoyed great conversations of an evening on all manner of subjects, interspersed with the odd glass of wine.(Californian of course). Her knowledge of the local area was invaluable when planning what we wanted to see in the short time we were with her.
I could write a lot more about this wonderful house and the equally delightful, thoughtful and caring hostess but it would be superfluous. It is sufficient to say we will be back sometime in the future and will keep in touch with Erica in the meantime.

  • I stayed in Erica's tree house during my winter vacation with my girl friend. Erica's house is just amazing and best place to stay. Since this was my first time to use Airbnb, I was bit nervous before I visited her. However, Erica made me feel at home, and it turned to be such a great experience. The house is in a quiet and peaceful place, having safe neighborhood. Now that the house is surrounded by beautiful nature, I could hear bird's sound in the morning and get fresh air whenever I go around. I and my girl friend usually went to SF by bus which work normally until midnight or more. It was convenient to tour SF, and also Erica helped us a lot for letting us have better option. After coming back from outside, we and Erica spent night time together, talking about many kinds of things, which was so impressive and interesting to talk. She is very intelligent that we could learn a lot of things by talking and think about new ideas so much. Those things were just incredible, and we really appreciated for her about it because even though our English is not so good that it might have been tiresome to talk with us, she tried to explain her ideas for us. Lastly, the house is very clean, giving a big bed room which is perfectly private place, and it also has perfect kitchen to cook :) I'm so happy to know Erica from this trip, hoping to see her again wherever it would be in the world!!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Erica's adorable little treehouse. Her home is cozy, clean, warm, and welcoming. We corresponded before and during my stay, she went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying my stay in Sausalito. The location of her home is perfect as you can walk into town, but you have the privacy and seclusion of the hills if you want to relax. This was my first airbnb experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. So if you are planning to go to Sausalito, don't look any further, this is the spot you want to be. You will fall in love with this spot the second you step onto her will be your Swiss Family Robinson experience, with the luxuries of home.

  • I came here with my girlfriend for our first vacation together and it was amazing. Erica is a pleasure to be with and she is incredibly intelligent. We enjoyed talking to Erica about a lot and she gave us awesome ideas for day trips. She (email hidden) and made us feel at home and really catered to our needs. A beautiful home, a great atmosphere, and excellent company. This place is a five for five and such a win.

  • My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend staying at Erica's Treehouse. We immediately felt an energizing yet homey feeling as we entered after our long drive. It was roomy, cozy, and personal. We loved the little menagerie of fun instruments- such as a tambourine and a drum. We had a little percussive celebration to have arrived!

Erica was super helpful and sweet and even responsive to our questions over the weekend. The location is wonderful- only a 10 minute walk to restaurants on the water.

I highly recommend staying here for a Sausalito trip or simply if you want a nourishing oasis!

I'm originally from Minneapolis, where I still own and rent out my home. I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for eight years, and I have a wonderful community here! I earned an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise (Green MBA) from Dominican University of CA and my undergraduate degree is Spanish and Portuguese. I have traveled fairly extensively in Latin America and a little in Europe, and I always seek authentic, local experiences, both as a visitor and to provide, as a host. I serve on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit, 100% volunteer-run organization called For The Bayou. We have events to raise awareness and funds for wetland restoration in South Louisiana, something I am very passionate about! I enjoy music, dancing, eating, cooking, hiking, biking, traveling, singing and spending time with my dear friends. I also love to garden and/or farm (I WWOOFed -Willing Workers On Organic Farms- for over a year on a farm in Northern California, while earning my MBA). I am an open, respectful, kind-hearted woman and I love to share living life to the fullest with anyone who crosses my path! And that said, laissez les bons temps rouler!! (Let the good times roll, New Orleans style!) Best, Erica
