The Lombard Seaside House at Kleinbaai (officially Van Dyksbaai) is a delectable slice of heaven, right on the sea. Slightly elevated, it offers beautiful sea views of its pebble beach, as well as vistas of the rocky shores of the whole bay. This unassuming double storey seafront house has all the creature comforts and benefits of home, enriched by the soothing sounds, sight and smells of the sea.

The space
The Lombard Seaside House at Kleinbaai that has been in the family since 1967, is a delectable slice of heaven, right on the sea. Slightly elevated, it offers beautiful sea views of its pebble beach, as well as vistas of the rocky shores of the whole bay. This unassuming double storey seafront house has all the creature comforts and benefits of home, enriched by the soothing sounds, sight and smells of the sea.

From the fully equipped kitchen, there is a free-flowing family room with glass stack doors allowing you to absorb the beauty of the bay even while you are cooking. This family room with its large table, dart board, cosy fireplace and ample informal seating, opens onto the sea-facing veranda and wooden deck.

On the covered veranda/stoep there is a braai for shady summer braai's, or protected winter braai's or potjies. Watch the shark boat action, fascinating bird life, rolling tides and the most magnificent sunsets from the spacious deck.

A little lobby, opens up to the three spacious double bedrooms downstairs, two of which are family rooms with additional beds. All have spectacular views of the sea. There is a communal bathroom with a bath, basin and toilet, as well as a separate guest toilet.

A wooden staircase takes you up to an airy landing with a reading nook and table for a computers. There are books, puzzles and games. It opens onto a wooden deck with a panoramic view of the bay, a fantastic tanning spot for those who are sun worshippers.

Two of the three double bedrooms upstairs have sea views. The communal bathroom upstairs has two basins, two toilets and a shower.

Our hidden gem is a free standing outside shower where you can enjoy a hot shower in the garden, while appreciating an unequalled view of the sea.

This is our fabulous family seaside house. Our happy safe place. Upgraded and expanded, to share with family and special friends and acquaintances who will understand how sentimental we feel about this space and will respect our personal memorabilia while they enjoy the spectacular view.

Kleinbaai has a wonderful tidal pool perfect for children, and a golf course with a sea view! A gravel road connects Kleinbaai along the rugged coast with a number of other little rock pools ending at the lighthouse at Danger Point. This track makes a wonderful hike.

This area is regarded as one of the best whale-watching sites in the world, which is a further reason for visiting between June and December. Many companies offer trips on licensed boats that are allowed to approach within 50 metres of whales, so that it is not unusual to find oneself wet from the spray of their blowholes!

It is from the quaint harbour of Kleinbaai that shark-diving boats leave with cages that allow visitors to get ‘up close and personal’ with Great Whites (Carcharodon Carcharias) that are to found in these waters.
