Quiet & safe luxury Georgian House in the very heart of London. Complete with hot tub, ipad, in room sound system - Like a luxury Hotel, but in a top London home!!

The Space

Nestled away in a gorgeous gated mews just 3 minutes walk (2 easy blocks) from Borough Tube, is a sanctuary of safety and quiet. Right in the heart of the city, this cosy, functional, stylish room is just a 10 minute walk from London Bridge and The Shard, and a stones throw from Borough Market. With your own private entrance, and access to the rest of this magnificent town house this room offers a wonderful way to experience life in central London, and is perfect place to stay for those wanting something more personal than, but with all the details and comforts of, a hotel.

If you are looking for all of the comforts of a central London luxury hotel, but also want the benefit of all the inside knowledge of an enthusiastic London host, at a fraction of the cost of a comparable room in a hotel - then you have found what you are looking for!

This is probably the largest and highest quality property on Airbnb in London! Your hosts travel for the majority of the year and know well what makes a great hotel stay, so we work hard to recreate that in our own home for you as our guests.

Your room and bathroom are located on the lower ground floor, which can be accessed via a private entrance. The entire floor is at your disposal, so you can enjoy some privacy. On your floor you will also find a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board, which you are welcome to use.

Bedroom – The bedroom suite is 130 sq ft (12 sq m) in size and has its own entrance area and separate shower room. It gets plenty of natural light coming through the beautiful wooden sash windows, though of course, if you are having a lie-in you can block this out completely using the double layered blinds.

There's a King sized bed with a deep 3” goose down topper, and 500 thread count bed sheets. There's plenty of storage space with a large wardrobe, set of drawers and luggage rack, as well as a full-length mirror.

The room comes complete with an iPad so that you can control the in-ceiling surround sound system, enabling you to play any music ever made or almost every radio station around the world directly to your bed. The iPad also allows you to plan your itinerary or check the house manual to answer most questions that you may have about the room or your stay.

There is also a flat-screen TV with integrated DVD player and 50MB high speed wireless internet throughout the house.

We've provided a bone china tea set (according to tea people this apparently keeps tea hotter for longer!), a kettle, a selection of teas (Peppermint, Organic Green, Every day, Wild Berry, Earl Grey, Chamomile) and caramel biscuits.

On your bed awaits a gift box containing a welcome pack, your set of keys, towelled slippers, and some other surprise items we thought you'd like for a great stay.

Ensuite – Villeroy & Boch sanitaryware with luxurious oversized rainshower, marble shelving and a vanity unit which provides ample space for your toiletries, mirror, and shaving socket with both UK & US voltage. Two fluffy towels, and two bath robes, bath mats, fine scottish hand wash and hand cream are also provided.

Note: Please note that the bedroom is located very close to the utility room, however we will not use it at night or in any way that disturbs you or creates any noise.

Guest Access

As our guest you have access to our huge mews townhouse, set in a private gated estate, between two Grade II listed Georgian squares and amongst calm leafy streets in what is affectionately referred to as Trinity Village - a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the Borough area in the Heart central London and just 2 minutes walk from the Tube.

The house is over 4000 sq ft (370 sq m) in size and spans four floors elegantly designed for grand living, with tall ceilings, stonewashed ivory oak flooring, floor to ceiling sash windows and an enclosed private garden. We have lovingly decorated our home with artwork and photography from our travels around the world, as well as those very special items that make it feel like home and reflect the area’s British heritage.

This listing offers the entire lower ground floor of the house privately for your use, comprising a 130 sq ft (12 sq m) bedroom with a king sized bed, adjoining private ensuite bathroom and your own separate entrance into the property. It offers excellent privacy whilst you also have the benefit of coming upstairs and making full use of the garden and hot tub!

The apartment is located in the heart of central London, just a two minute walk from the nearest tube stop, perfectly located for both tourists and business guests.

We are experienced Airbnb hosts and are confident that your stay with us will be a pleasure - please take some time to read previous reviews.

Reception Area – a 725sq ft (67 sq m) space, includes an open fire, stonewashed ivory oak flooring, and floor to ceiling double glazed sash windows looking out onto the beautiful garden. With two mirrored skylights above the dining table, the room provides loads of natural light. The space is furnished with a seating area that comfortably seats 6-8, surrounding a coffee table with an eclectic selection of books and board games for everyone, from ‘The Complete History of Keats’ to ‘A Guide to the Antarctic’. There is also a Bang & Olufsen surround sound stereo system, complete with iPod/iPhone jack.

Dining Area – The dining area forms part of the reception room and has a specially designed and commissioned dining table and with colourful Fritz Hansen chairs to seat seven.

Kitchen – a fully equipped, large and open plan British handmade Mark Wilkinson kitchen, with huge granite worktop surfaces, two separate sinks and integrated breakfast bar. There is also a large 5 point gas hob, three industrial sized fan assisted ovens, dishwasher, an ‘American sized’ fridge/freezer, microwave and even a plate warming oven. There is also ample crockery, cutlery and glasses (red, white, champagne, cocktail and shot) for 15 guests. Oh, and we have a Port decanter for the occasional after dinner tipple - which you are welcome to enjoy! All we ask is that you try to use the kitchen when the other residents in the house are not.
Garden – 860 sq ft (80 sq m) elegant courtyard garden, complete with a hot tub, outdoor shower, BBQ, dining table and chairs and plenty of planting, enables you to bubble away in the hot tub with views of Europe's tallest building, whilst feeling a world away from the city in your private garden oasis.

Office – A home office can be made available by request, complete with wireless printer/scanner, a large desk space and copious stationary supplies.

Interaction with Guests

There are 4 of us living in the house, and there is always someone around. Jamie welcomes interaction and loves to meet and chat to all guests when he isn't away himself. He does travel extensively and so may not be around for your stay, but will always maintain contact with you to ensure that you have a great time!

The Neighborhood

The townhouse is within minutes of London's newest iconic landmark: the Shard - designed by acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, this is Western Europe's tallest building, where you can experience an astonishing 360 degree view of London from 244m above ground.

Some further exploration on the weekend around the historic railway arches in the nearby Bermondsey Street antiques area will reveal London's newest foodie secret: Maltby Street and Ropewalk (email hidden)ly street market with a combination of stalls, under-arch shops, pop-up bars and eateries.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We found Jamie and Eric to be wonderful hosts. They greeted us on arrival and nothing seemed to much troubles. The direction on how to get to the house from Heathrow airport were spot on and the accommodation was exactly as described and pictured on Airbnb. The location was great, an easy walk into the centre of London and a tube station just round the corner. The neighbourhood felt safe with ample places to eat out as well as a supermarket close by. Jamie and Eric have thought of everything, even down to a designated shelf in the fridge for Airbnb guest to use. To top it all off, there was the added luxury of being able to relax in the hot tub after a long day of sightseeing. I would definitely stay with Jamie and Eric again when back in London.

  • My buddy and me had a wonderful time at James' amazing place! We felt welcome and home and enjoyed our stay very much! We will definetely come back!

  • Not what we expected. Does Air B&B mean continental breakfast included? Not sure if we would return to this location or recommend it.

    Response from Jamie:

Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to write a review. Airbnb relies on the feedback of others to guide future guests as to the quality of a listing prior to making a booking, but it is also a very crucial way for me to ensure that my service is continually improving and updating.

I do understand that the name Airbnb can be misleading as it suggests that breakfast is included by all guests! I would love to make breakfast for my guests every morning and have a chat, however, unfortunately that is not practicable with a full-time job. On the plus side, the information pack in your room included a selection of excellent local breakfast cafes, including Joe’s (an awesome joint that offers waffles, fruit smoothies, excellent coffee and my favourite, a banana and Nutella toast!) and Terry’s (a very English cafe offering English breakfasts with the perfect tea, all in a traditional 1950’s setting with wartime jazz playing and famous London cabbies chatting to each other about the weather!), all of which are within a few minutes walk. Failing that guests have full access to the fully equipped kitchen, including a section of the fridge with their name on it!

I have taken your feedback seriously and, although I felt that the listing was already clear, I have made further changes to the description to make it clear that we do not make guests breakfasts in the morning.

I very much hope that this small issue does not put you off the Airbnb experience. Next time you make a booking just click on the ‘Amenities’ tab and look to see if the breakfast option is checked.

    Thanks again for your feedback.

  • My husband and I came to enjoy a weekend in London and stayed at Jamie's beautiful home during our stay. It is a fantastic location and a great place to relax in after a long day around town. We didn't see Jamie very much during our time there but he was very hospitable and easy to communicate with. We definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a 5 star hotel experience.
    Thank you Jamie,

    Samanta and Sigurd

  • Fantastic place. Warm, engaging host and very beautiful, clean accommodation- so much better than a lot of hotels. Jamie was so lovely from the start to end, he was the first time we used airbnb and it happened to be on our honeymoon! Jamie made us feel so welcomed and made every effort to ensure our needs were met. Highly recommended.

  • Jamie Ashwell was truly committed to our comfort and showed warm, outstanding communication before, during, after our trip. His housemates were also very courteous and helpful.

The space includes a quiet, luxuriously appointed bedroom and bath downstairs. The whole public space was equally beautiful. There is a large, very well equipped kitchen, with glass top dining table overlooking the best part for us - the spacious enclosed garden.

We used the well-maintained Jacuzzi hot tub to view the evening sky after busy days on our feet. In the mornings, there is a picnic table and benches for breakfast in the quiet, sunlit garden with herbs and lovely landscaping. Beyond the high, private wall are tall trees, with birds singing. It is an oasis of unobtrusive calm and the best retreat we have experienced.

The provided iPad with wifi in our room precluded a need to bring our laptop. There is also a guidebook on London. Soft white bathrobes and slippers were provided. Jamie thought of everything!

We tried Simply Indian restaurant, a few blocks away at 25 Tabard Street, to the right of Great Dover - good food and service, in a small, inviting space.

The neighborhood was clean, safe, fun, with a Sainsbury's grocery store nearby on Borough High Street for produce, packaged sandwiches and snacks. It was easy to walk to both Borough and London Bridge Tube stations. Next time we will walk beyond to cross the bridge into the heart of London. Along the waterfront, there are small shops and people casually enjoying the nearby benches to watch the commuter and tour boats go by.

The Borough Market is very close to London Bridge station, plus Globe Shakespeare Theater. Turning left on Southwark Street, also within walking distance, is the Tate Modern Museum.

Downtown at Trafalgar Square, next to the National Gallery is St. Martin of the Fields, which has reasonably priced, outstanding classical concerts in an intimate, beautiful setting.

If you use a taxi , instruct them to come to the house at "30 Trinity Street, cross street Globe" rather than Bedford Row, since there is also one downtown.

  • This was our first stay at a place on AirB&B. We weren't originally looking for a shared place to stay but when we stumbled across this listing we thought it was perfect.

Jamie was incredibly helpful and thoughtful and we couldn't have wanted anything more.

The pictures in the listing detail the environment perfectly, when we arrived his place was fantastic.

If we get a chance to go back to London we would definitely stay here again.

  • Jamie was a wonderful host with a beautiful home exactly has promised and depicted on AbnA. His friendly, welcoming and caring attitude was most appreciated after weeks of journey. The neighborhood is very residential, safe and quite but only two blocks from the Borough Street tube and a short walk to great pubs and small restaurants. The secure entry to the mews from the street was a plus. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and modern and with access to a beautiful kitchen/ living room and wonderful outdoor garden it felt like HOME !

  • Our stay at Jamie's place was the perfect place to stay in our visit to London. After a long day of traveling from Bath, my wife and I arrived at Jamie's place to champagne and chocolates waiting for us. The place was beautiful and was in a perfect location for our travel needs. The apartment was within walking distance of Borough Market (great wine, cheese, breads, etc.), Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and many other iconic spots. Jamie was a great host and provided us a great room and comfortable place to stay. The iPAD and music/sound system were also a great addition to the room. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time in London and Jamie's place!

  • Jamie's house ticked all the boxes for us, comfortable, warm, close to the underground and Central London, with lots of extras -especially the reliable wifi. Thanks for sharing your lovely home and garden with us. We had a fantastic stay in London!

We really enjoy hosting guests and creating a special stay for you. That is because we are tidy, have attention to detail, and a love for hotels. We are also very proud of both London and our house, and love Airbnb as it lets us share both with other nice people! We are always keen to help you have the best trip to London, whether it be finding the best local restaurant, the fastest way to a meeting, or a special extra touch for a romantic weekend away. Jamie : I’m sociable and friendly, but know when people need their own space. Enthusiastic, open minded, and sporty, with a love of politics. Passionately British, but not eccentric! I spend most of my time trying to resist ski expeditions, kite surfing trips, or water-skiing. I like to think that I can get on with anyone, from any background and any age. Eric : I'm a friendly guy that loves pulling pranks on my boyfriend Jamie. I am a proud Australian and have lived in London for nearly 2 years. I have a terrible travelling bug that grows everyday within me. I love my premier league and support Arsenal. *CONTROVERSIAL* I also enjoy a night out on the town, so I can recommend where to go, for a good time. If you have any questions, just ask.
