Minsyuku Satoyama 民宿さと山
Japanese Tatami style room x6
Twin room x2
This small hotel located in Tsuwano town .
It's a old town as called small Kyoto.
Reasonable room rate with many discount mutters.
Tsuwano, the former thriving castle town, is situated at the foot of Mt. Aonoyama.
It offers many historic scenery including a range of white earthen wall-surrounded old houses standing along the waterways with irises in full bloom, a shrine with a tunnel of small red shrine gates (Taikodani Inari Shrine; one of the Japan’s five greatest Inari shrines),
And a pass (or hill) telling a sad story of Japanese Catholics who perished for religious belief. (Otome Pass).
Peace and smile
Really bad experience, the price was to high for the services they provide.
Satoshi-san is a very warm hearted caring host, together with his wife they are experienced owner / organizer of traditional style local lodge (Minsyuku). They kindly assisted the stay and gave very useful advice / information on Tsuwano town.
Tsuwano is very beautiful place where the beauty of Japanese local life and landscape is well preserved.

Satoshi san was a very generous and accommodating host. As he is also an excellent cook, I highly recommend the breakfast and dinner. He is also an interesting person to talk to - he knows about a lot of things!
Though the minshuku is a little far from the train station if you have luggage, a taxi to there is only ¥750, and the center of the village a short walk. You can even walk from the minshuku to the big shrine and then to the village center in less than an hour.
It was alright living with Satoshi. The room was classic japaneese style and very big, which was very nice. It was quite cold in the house, so we had to sleep in our sleeping bags even though there was a heater in the room, but that's because we were quite unlucky and were there when it was very cold in general. The house smelled of cigarette smoke, but mostly in the open smoking area and the reception. The house was very B'n'B like, we definitly didn't have the feeling that we were visiting Satoshis home.
Satoshi cooked us traditional japaneese breakfeast for a 1000 yen. It was very interesting and fun to try.
The toilet smelled a bit of sewer, but seemed pretty clean considering it was shared with all the other rooms.
The house was kinda far away from the train station, about 2 km, and it took about 2 hours by train to get to Hiroshima, but Tsuwano was a really cosy city with some nice small sights and walks.
Satoshi was very helpful when we had questions about the train tables and he helped us book taxis a couple of times.
In terms of location it's pretty far from the station. But the place is very nice, it has the old traditional Japanese style to it. A nice place to just relax and enjoy the country vibe. The host is also very helpful and kind :)
