This was perfect for my short stay in Brooklyn. Located in a great safe neighborhood.
My husband and I stayed here a weekend. Val was extremely accommodating. She kept in touch with me a month before our stay to iron out specifics, give directions to her place, etc. so she's really on the ball. She works a lot, so she had her roommate let us in and hand over the keys to us, and everything went off without a hitch. When we entered the room, she'd already laid out towels for us, and the room was really clean, and nicely decorated.
Both the room and the apartment are spacious and the bed is comfy. There's a huge window that lets a lot of light in. The neighborhood is nice and diverse, with a lot of good restaurants. The apartment is quite convenient to the G train - just a block or two away. From the G, you can transfer easily to the A train, so there's easy access to Manhattan.
As a hostess, Val is the nicest person - charming and very hospitable. She's interesting to talk to and has a lot of great stories. She takes the time to get to know you and offer you anything you might need - food, drinks, restaurant recommendations, etc. - even though she is super busy with her job. I would totally stay here again.
Valerie was very welcoming and easygoing. The place is close to the subway and a (very) decent trek to the Brooklyn Bridge. The bed was comfortable.
Valerie, the host, is very nice and made us feel welcome. She gave us lots of tips on where to go locally, like the bakery where we had a delicious breakfast,. The flat is in a good location for getting around (about 15mins from Down Town Manhattan). As most of the time we were out and about, the room was more than adequate for our stay.
Valerie greeted me with a cheerful hello. She was superfriendly and helpful.I stayed a week at her place and I enjoyed it very much.
Nice spacious room and excellent host. Valerie was great and helped me figure out the neighborhood and the best subway routes every time I asked.
The area at first might seem like there isn't much around, but if you walk up and west along Mrytle you will find tons of restaurants (I loved getting bagels in the morning from Bergen bagel when I could, highly reco) and if you go along DeKalb you'll pass the Pratt institute and a number of other restaurants and you can definitely walk to the subway if you'd rather, probably take 25-30 mins at most
Also Fort Greene park is a short walk away and is a really nice spacious park. Getting to Union Square (ie right into manhattan) is a short bus ride and two stops on the Q (it takes 30 minutes to land in manhattan and that includes the bus)
This room is well air conditioned which is definitely important during the summer months.
there is also C-town for groceries right at the end of the street if you need to get something and a few restaurants really close (I went to Omi Nom and it was great)
oh and the cat is adorable, and might meow at you but just wants a pet on the head and it will lie down close by
Staying with Val was the best airbnb experience I ve had so far!
I already miss her apartment, great conversations and her beautiful cat.
Val is down to earth, helpful, and was a complete angel when i was stuck in a sticky situation.
The apartment is a perfect oasis to come home to after exploring the city.
I would highly recommend Val and her place to any of my friends.
Valerie was excellent on every level, super friendly, easy to talk to, and very hospitable. From offering breakfast each morning to helping out with directions whenever I needed help, I can safely stay I'd happily stay there again.
Great location, friendly host. I had a superb vacation during my stay in Brooklyn. Bets any hostel like 100-0.
Staying with Valerie was pretty great. Her apartment is clean and cozy, and the neighborhood seemed safe. She is extremely welcoming and helpful, and treated me almost like an old friend coming to visit. She gave me directions to places I needed to go, offered suggestions on things to do, even encouraged me to eat breakfast before starting my day. Late one evening, knowing that it was my first day in the city traveling alone as a young woman, she gave me a ring to make sure I was safe and finding my way around. Talk about above and beyond! I would definitely stay with Valerie again.
