  • Simply put, Mario's place was so nice, and in such a great part of Rome, and Mario was such an amazing host, that I'm reluctant to tell anyone, lest he be swamped with requests, and hasn't space for me next time I visit Rome.
Mario is a wonderful fellow, and I only wish I could have stayed a few weeks instead of a few days. And, yes, he shared his cooking with me!
I hope to return some day. Ciao!!!

  • Everything about Mario's apartment was perfect, and Mario is an excellent host. Before arriving, Mario and I were in communication several times about when I was arriving, and he provided perfectly clear and detailed directions on how to reach his apartment. My messages were also answered very quickly.

Immediately upon arrival, Mario had suppli (Roman style stuffed rice balls) ready for me as a welcoming dish, and they were delicious. He (email hidden) so had some good recommendations for places to eat and sites to see, and even gave me a map to help navigate the city.

The apartment itself is exactly true to the pictures. The living room area is spacious and very comfortable. The bedroom is very large as well, with plenty of room to hang clothing, store your suitcase/bags, etc. The room faces the street, and at night and in the early morning it can be a bit loud, but nothing out of the ordinary for city. The living room, bathroom, and kitchen face into the very picturesque center of the apartment buildings adjacent to Mario's. It is the quintessential Roman apartment experience. Overall, I enjoyed every aspect of staying at Mario's place, including the excellent breakfasts he prepared each morning.

The apartment itself is located in the trendy Trastevere district. This is the ideal location if you'd like to be away from the touristy scene and around more of the locals' scene. There are an endless array of excellent bars and restaurants near by. I highly recommend Dar Poeta for some excellent pizza (get their early if you don't want to wait too long. It's a popular spot).

While the apartment is not located directly in the touristy districts, it's very easy to reach all the main sites both on foot and by public transportation. A trolley runs just blocks from the apartment that can take you into the heart of downtown in a few minutes, and on foot most of the sites are between 20-35 minutes away. Great if you're planning to explore this way.

Overall, I very highly recommend Mario's apartment for a stay in Rome!

  • From the first second I arrived at Marios place I felt welcome and comfortabel. There was even some homemade cake waiting for me! I can't imagine a better host. It was a pleasure to stay at his lovely place in the heart of Trastevere. I left Rome with a new friend.

  • Mario is the quintessential perfect host. Arriving in Rome to homemade lasagna? Wow! My girlfriend and I felt more like we were visiting family than staying with a stranger. Mario's place is spacious and full of great art and books about (email hidden) by trade, Mario gave us great tips on getting around. He was also generous with the use of his kitchen (we made coffee and had breakfast here each morning), computer (used to book train tickets, etc), washer, and clothes iron (which I left on, shorting out the power in the apartment- at which Mario kindly joked that he only worried about how I survive in San Francisco where our buildings are made out of wood. I tried to blame jet lag. Embarrassing.)

The location of the apartment is great if you want to get a little ways away from the center. But I would hesitate to say it is quiet. Nothing in Rome is quiet. The street is small, with an excellent butcher shop, gelateria, and dried goods store on the block. We rented bikes and kept them safely overnight in the courtyard of the building.

If we ever get to visit Rome again, we will definitely be calling Mario.
Thank you, Mario, for a perfect home base in the chaos of Rome!

Mario is a nice and friendly host, who knows to provide specific advices to visit and live in Rome and in the beautiful neighborhood of Trastevere.
His home is cozy, very spacious and beautiful, with lift, in a very funny and charming district of Rome. The hospitality of Mario is great and the breakfast is rich and varied (even with cakes and pies cooked by him).
He speaks fluent English and French and is well aware of Rome, from monuments to museums, entertainment and restaurants: a chat with him there will always be useful before planning your Roman holiday!

  • I stayed at Mario's lovely apartment for 8 nights and it was amazing!! (I'm not exaggerating) I could have never asked for a better host than Mario.. He made me feel like home from the first moment that I arrived (far beyond my expectations!), was there for me for everything I needed and made me smile every morning with his breakfasts :) He has a great personality, speaks English fluently (it really helps since many Italians don't speak the language) and the apartment is located in a great location in Trastevere - walking distance from the center! The room I got was big and with comfortable bed!
Staying at Mario's place really upgraded my stay in this beautiful city and made it a pleasant one! I deeply recommend it and for sure I would love to return to his place in my next visit!
    Mario, Grazie mille for everything!!

  • Mario is really welcoming, helpful, and an incomparable cook.
He helped us find our way to his place from the airport and eager to help us whenever we needed.
And he offered us a delicious breakfast every morning!
The room is comfortable (a bit noisy, it's better to have earplugs to sleep), an the apartment perfectly located in the fancy, typical and lively district of Trastevere. It is located at walking distance from many touristic places (Vatican museums, Colosseo, Pantheon, piazza Navona...) and well located to other places by trams and buses.
We highly recommend Mario's place for a short or long stay in Rome.
