I am a mosaic artist/health care provider/traveler/mom and live in the much sought Adams Morgan neighborhood. My basement private entry single bedroom has a double bed with private bath including a double shower. Use of gym and small fridge and microwave and a few dishes available. All linens are included. This is a very private space. You may only see me when you check in. If you are only staying one night there is a $10 cleaning fee.

We are located in the 'heart and soul' of Washington DC. Adams Morgan is the most
diverse ward in the city. The last census revealed that there are 136 nationalities living in our boundaries. And we have all the restaurants to prove it! Nearby Meridian Park has a drumming circle on Sunday evenings in warm weather. Three farmers market within walking distance - Mt. Pleasant, Adams Morgan and U Street every Saturday during the season. Nearby U Street corridor has many jazz and blues clubs .Checkout the quidebook for local interests.

Near major subway and bus stations. We are between the red and the green line subway. Within walking distance of lively Dupont Circle and art galleries. Short walk to the National Zoo. And a short subway or bus ride to the museums and memorials. There are close by "Capitol Share Bikes" for short rentals and bus service is less than a block away. If you are a sports fan, we have baseball, basketball, football and hockey pro teams and a pretty good pro women's basketball team.

The space is very private - only the gym is shared with my daughter and myself. There is cable TV in the room and free wifi (pass word supplied) The front porch has swing and two chairs and is open for use.

I work varying hours and please let me know what time you want to check in as I may be able to accommodate you. If I am not home, my daughter may be available.

Check In
  • My friend and I were in DC for a few days to do some sightseeing. We had a great stay at Gail's. The space was as pictured and the neighborhood was wonderful. There were lots of bars/restaurants within walking distance, as well as a supermarket in case we needed some small things. We were able to access the bus across the street, which took us to the metro or directly to the sights. The space was also clean with linens provided. As someone who frequently gets cold, a heater was also available for our convenience. I would definitely stay with Gail again!

  • Well, it was a great location for the event I attended. Charming and private room. A very nice place, one I hope to come back again to. Thanks Gail!

  • Gail was super awesome. The place is really comfortable and the check in was so easy and quick. Great location :)

  • Gail's place is fabulous! Great location in Adams Morgan, near many restaurants, and within a few minutes walking distance of buses (to the Mall and around the city) bikes, and the metro. It's also an 8 minute walk from the zoo! It was really nice to spend time in a DC neighborhood, we enjoyed walking around in the evenings. The apartment is great, very private and clean. Excellent bathroom with a cool shower and mosaic, and a comfortable bed. We met Gail while checking in, and she was kind and chill, and we felt very at home. I loved staying here, and hope to return should I find myself in DC again!

  • Stayed for 2 nights. Gail was helpful telling us how to get around DC. The entrance was a little messy but the room was clean and bathroom was clean as well. There was construction done next door and we could hear Gail's family walking around upstairs but it was very quiet during bedtime.

    Response from Gail:

    Hey Michelle,
I guess you missed that you had to walk thru my studio..sorry about the "messy" part; but I work better with all my 'stuff' around me

  • We enjoyed our stay with Gail so much. The space was very comfortable and the shower is lovely. You are walking distance from great food and nightlife. You are also very close to the national zoo and museum. Make sure to visit the Hillwood museum and gardens, we happened to stumble across them and it was one of our favorite parts of the trip.

  • Gail's place is a hideaway hotel suite; you get an entire basement with bedroom, a mini-kitchen (microwave, fridge, tea/coffee, mugs and utensils) and bath. It's on a quiet street half a block from a neat commercial area, with cheap ethnic restaurants and good transit connections.

  • Our stay at Gail's home was very nice! We enjoyed the privacy of the space and the lovely mosaic in the shower. The walk to the metro was not very far and there were lots of good restaurants around. Gail also provided us with a parking pass, which was very helpful in D.C. We would definitely recommend this home!

  • Not only is Gail a great host, she is also SO nice!!!!! I've been so fortunate to stay with her several times now and I will continue to seek out her space when in DC! GREAT space, convenient location, and the shower is the best ever!

  • Gail was the consummate host. The Adams Morgan area is a quaint little place in DC that allows easy access via Metro throughout the city. Unfortunately, I had to shorten my visit due to an injured back. Gail was very attentive and refunded more than a fair amount of my original reservation cost. There is a grocery store right around the corner and although there isn't really a kitchen, there is a microwave, toaster and a small refrigerator. A Starbucks is close but I chose to buy Folgers instant just for ease. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Gail! You were kind and understanding.
