Gail's AirBnB space in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood makes a very hospitable and convenient base camp for a trip to DC. The location is on a leafy, lovely street just a very short walk from a bus stop where you can pick up a Metrobus right into the heart of the city. The layout is a bit odd, but once you get used to it, you realize what a luxurious amount of space this lodging provides. Located near the front of the house, the bedroom is not overly large, but perfectly adequate, with a comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, a full closet, night table with lamp, etc. Ventilation and light are not its strong suits--it is below grade and the windows look out only onto a craft work space, so it is a tad stuffy and dark. It also did not seem super-private, as only sheer curtains separate the bedroom from the craft space and thus from the windows that face the street; however, Gail assured me that the space was all but invisible from passers-by, and indeed it seemed to be. Once I acclimated to the space, I found it amazing for sleeping--as dark and quiet as a tomb (in a good way!). Just past the bedroom is a very small kitchen area, not really a full kitchen, but a place to make tea, toast bread, use the microwave, store a few items in the small fridge, etc. From there the space goes into a dining area with a large table and, right next to it, a nicely outfitted workout space (complete with water fountain!). Then, all the way at the back, is a truly amazing bathroom--spacious, very nicely remodeled and furnished, with a spectacular, large shower enclosure featuring one of Gail's mosaic art pieces and double shower heads. Quite luxurious! There were some small nibbles provided (that granola bar was most appreciated when I was rushing out the door my first morning). The lights in key areas had dimmers, which made it convenient for finding one's way around at night if needed. Gail welcomed me when I got in and offered any advice I may need, and then gave me plenty of privacy. All in all, it was a restful and comfortable stay. And judging from the guest book full of raves, plenty of AirBnB-ers agree!
I had a great time in DC. I just loved the Adams Morgan neighborhood! Beautiful architecture, friendly people- lots to do shopping and eating wise; cuisine from all over the world. Great dining! And lots of services like nail and hair salons, massage, etc.
My room was cozy, and cheerful, had a/c- a plus. Really nice bathroom and shower.
Gail sent communication well in advance of our arrival, room was lovely and just as she described. Neighborhood is very close to 18th street and Adams Morgan, her location is on a quiet residential street. Super comfortable room, spacious bathroom with relaxing shower and ample grooming amenities. Gail is a very gracious host, this was our first stay with Airbnb and we will be back.
We had such a good time at Gail's. The room was very clean and comfortable and in the perfect location in DC. Gail was extremely nice and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.
Gail was a great host! She has thought of everything an airbnb guest might need, and it is all there and ready for you. Beautiful space, and a wonderful neighborhood! The metro isn't especially close, but the buses are, and there are so many great restaurants and other things close by too. I would definitely stay with Gail again.
