Real Chicagoans don't live in Michigan Avenue skyscrapers, we live in neighborhood 3-flats. Come stay in one of the best Chicago neighborhoods (Wicker Park / Ukrainian Village) and feel like a local.
On the top floor of a 3-story building, you'll feel immediately at home in my guest room. Art hangs off every flat surface, including some by local artists also living in the area. You'll have full run of the house, including a large kitchen, and the outdoor space (balcony, patio).
Your room is a sunny, private guestroom with a futon mattress on top of an airbed. Very firm and very comfortable. In the warmer months, there is a private air conditioning unit for the room. During the winter there is central heat from a furnace.
The bathroom includes the original clawfoot tub from the house, and is great for soaking.
The apartment's location is ideal for getting to almost anywhere in the city. You're within 5 minutes walking of 3 major bus routes, and the Blue Line, which run's from O'Hare to Millennium Park. It's easy to spend the day exploring the tourist attractions of Chicago (which are amazing), then come back for an evening with the locals (which is even better).
Wicker Park was first a community for artists, but has turned into one of best rounded neighborhoods. Fine dining, dive bars, art galleries, thrift stores, performance venues, and the best walk-up taco shacks in the city.
I love this city, and I've spent a lot of time exploring a lot of it's corners, I'll happily help you plan something special.
For no extra charge, you also get the services of wonder-dog MoJo. He doesn't do much but sleep and eat -- but he's cute.

John is a nice and friendly guy. We really felt comfortable there and just can recommend that you stay with him if you come to Chicago.
Great experience, anytime again! John is very helpful and laid back, he also respects your privacy. The place is very clean and located right next to the blue line which takes you right to O'Hare or downtown. We had a great time, thanks John!
I recommend this place for someone who will be out most of the time and doesn't mind an air mattress. We found parking about a quarter of a mile away. John was out of town and his girlfriend was there. We talked for maybe a minute then didn't see her again since she went to her own place. The tub has a steep learning curve so I had to stick my stomach out to wash my hair to be careful not to fall back into the shower pipe. The curtains don't close all the way round and leaves a space right in front of the door. We aren't really posh and the stay was cheap so we didn't mind too much but it's good for people to know. They helped us find our way through the crazy apts and recommended restaurants for us. Nice people overall :)
We had a fantastic stay at John's place. John is a great host and we felt very welcome. This was our first time in Chicago, and he provided us with excellent advice on what to see and do in the city. The room was clean and the house is ideally located in a great area and close to metro/bus. Warmly recommended!
I had the pleasure of meeting both John and his girlfriend throughout my stay, and they made me feel very welcome and gave great advice for my travels. The room is great for someone just looking for a bed to end the day with following all the touristy visits. Location is great, few mins away from the subway which will take you anywhere.
Also recommend the Zakopane bar for cheap drinks not too far from there. Cheers again guys!
John was kind enough to let us stay on short notice and we found his place to be cozy, warm and in a great location. We didn't see John much while we were there, but he was always friendly and willing to give recommendations.
John is a great host, very helpful, check in was a breeze and his dog is wonderful. The place is in a great location, short, easy bus or train to the downtown plus there are lots of shops/eateries nearby to explore.
Overall geat stay. Perfect Location. Really good guy helped me find my way around vey easy to get in contact with. Even let me borow a phone charger after i lost mine after a long night. Definitely would recommend and will probably stay here next time I visit Chicago. *****
John was a great host. We only stayed for one night, but it was very pleasant. He was super nice and really made us feel at home. His recommendations for food and drink were spot on, and the Wicker Park neighborhood is great. He lives blocks from multiple public transit stops (both bus and train) which is super convenient.
The room is clean and a perfect place to crash after a long day of exploring the city. The only complaint I have is that the bed is a bit noisy, but that can't be helped. Other than that it's super comfortable, and my wife and I enjoyed spending our last night in Chicago there. Would definitely stay with him again!
My three-year-old son and I stayed with John for four nights and had a great stay. When we returned home my wife asked my son what was his favourite part of the trip. It wasn't seeing Sue the Tyrannosaurus, visiting the aquarium or riding the trains, but instead his favourite part was "Mojo the dog"!
