Peaceful Haiku Room

House - Private room · Kokomo Road, Haiku-Pauwela, HI 96708, United States

I live in this house with my 7 year old son Maika. It is a large house, with 4 bedrooms and shared bath. We do not provide breakfast. Our friend Tricia lives with us as well. She is in the room next to you. We are a half of a mile above the Haiku Grocery store and Post office. Less than 10 minute drive to Hookipa. The room is 10.5ft x 9.5 ft. Fully furnished, with wireless internet connection. It is a quiet area. I will provide you with a key for the room and front door of the house. Lost key charge is $20.

NEIGHBORHOOD: We live half mile from the Haiku Marketplace. There is a grocery store, laundromat, post-office, bus stop, fitness gym, and 6 restaurants to choose from including sushi, pizza, and my personal favorite breakfast stop Colleens. The beach is only a 10 minute drive to Paia. Easy access to the road to Hana as well.

RESTROOMS: There is only one restroom with a toilet and a sink that we all share. The shower is in another part of the house, which we all share as well. There is a shelf in the restroom for you to use to store bathroom items. I will supply soap and paper products for you to use while you're here, as well as beach and house towels.

REFRIGERATOR: I have a mini fridge available in the kitchen just for you. My kitchen items such as pots, pans, silverware, cups and plates are available for you to use, please clean up after yourself, and please recycle.

INSECTS: As in all tropical climates, insects are present. Keep all screen doors closed. Mosquitoes can sneak in and hide in dark places until nightfall. Please put all food away after eating. Store all food in the refrigerator. Remove trash and wash dishes often to reduce the risk of ants, roaches and other pests. Geckos (small lizards) are not pests; they are harmless to you and help catch insects. These amazing creatures tend to chirp when they are happy!

INTERNET: I have a wireless internet connection in the house, I will provide you with my password. We have a TV and DVD player for your use upon request that we can install in the room before your arrival. We found that no one was using it so we took it out of the room. There is no telephone line at the house.

QUIET TIME: My son is in second grade, I kindly ask that noise is kept to a minimum after 9pm. If you are entering the house after 9pm please be as quiet as possible as not to wake him. We get up early for work/school and are out of the house by 7:15am on weekdays. We will do our best not to disturb you in the mornings as well.

*Please hang any wet towels outside or in shower room to dry.
*I do have a washer and dryer at the house $2.50 per wash load and $2.50 per dry load or you can hang them in the garden room. There is also a laundromat down the street at the Haiku Cannery.
*Please no smoking in the house, there is an area outside if you smoke.

CHECK-IN: Please send me your arrival information so we can set up a convenient time to walk you through the house.

CHECK-OUT: Check-out time depends on your flight time, but usually by 11am.

  • We had great conversations during our stay with Cheyni which led to great experiences on Maui. She and others in the house were friendly and knowledgeable about various sites on the island that were not in our guidebooks. We are thankful for that because our experiences in Maui were marvelous.

The location in Haiku was good, especially if one was interested in the Hana Highway. We were able to experience the joys of driving on this road twice. It also prepared us for the drive through the clouds to the Haleakalā crater, which was glorious on the day we were there. Our days on Maui will be unforgettable and our stay with Cheyni contributed to that. Thanks.

  • My husband & I enjoyed Cheyni's warm easy-going hospitality. The kitchen was nicely equipped & the room was roomy enough for our stuff. We enjoyed the quiet country-like space, very close to the local grocery store & restaurant & just a short drive to the beach. We'd definitely stay again & longer.

  • This was a true Hawaiian experience, out in the country with tropical rain and the breeze blowing through the louvered windows. Cheyni and her family provide a peaceful and friendly environment. The room was as advertised. The bed was comfortable. There were 2 sets of clean towels waiting for us on the foot of the bed. 4 pillows for 2 people (I love extra pillows). We made good use of the extra fridge.

  • Had an amazing stay with Cheyni! She treated us like old friends and we had friendly conversation. Wished we could of met her son, but we were in and out often, maybe next time! Clean room with a nice breeze flowing from the trees, it was soothing and refreshing to hear the toads, birds and crickets lulling me to sleep. Cheyni was a fantastic host and would highly recommend staying with her!
