The Space

{Please, only apply if you have feedback from prior stays using airbnb-- thank you for your understanding.}

Elegant looking inside and in one of the most convenient, central places in all of the area.

Directly at/above the mall & at two major tram stops. Easy ride on tram &/or easy walk to main train station. Approx. 15 minute on foot to the main train station.

Shops and cafes are all right here! The Zwinger & Semperoper is as close as you can get for a rental apartment (some new very expensive ones are being built at same distance, but super high end) - to the Zwinger and SemperOper is a leisurely 5 minute walk!

One bedroom apartment in center of city, Dresden. Bright and beautiful with much sunlight throughout the day and a balcony with sunbathing chairs. Shared while we are here or whole apartment while we're traveling. When shared with us, you choose whether to rent the living room or the bedroom.

Living room has a futon, couch, two soft chairs, bookshelf, large flat screen tv with dvd and cable to attach to your computer, and 2 desks. Bedroom has 3 single beds, wardrobe closets, night tables. In either case, full use of kitchen and bathroom with tub. The t.v. with cable can be easily put into either room you choose.

Wireless internet available *unless we eventually disconnect service*. Considerable size DVD set as well as small book set available for use while staying here. Happy to allow you to "take a book/leave a book." Same with DVDs. Or to leave 2-5 euros per book or dvd if wanting to "purchase" (Use your judgment on 'value' of chosen item and simply leave us a note or email. We are paring down our possessions, as we anticipate moving out sometime in July of 2015).

Dog friendly. We have one dog of our own (medium sized mix).

Absolutely NO smoking.

45 per night, for up to 2 guests.

No additional charges for Friendly, House-trained dogs.

--------------------------------------------------------(Please be aware in advance that there is only one bathroom. This is customary in this area. Two toilets/bathrooms apartments are very rare and far more expensive to own or rent, so not many people have units with more than one.).

There is noise at night on weekends especially from the tram stop. On weekdays and in the day time, it's not so much. The windows are rather air tight, so you can close them to shut out the noise, but then you lose the fresh air. We never notice the noise, but we are used to life in a city and this pales in comparison with respect to noise, so for us, we consider it quiet... but others who aren't city acclimated, may find it to be noisy outside at times.

We do not speak German. Sorry. We speak English. Thank you for your understanding.

Also, with regard to the first review that posted automatically from the airbnb system-- the reservation was made in error, where a guest mistakenly booked the wrong set of dates. This is the reason that a cancellation was necessary. The host and guest were in positive communication and resolution throughout. Thank you :)

Our visit in Dresden has been very nice, we enjoyed the tranquility of the city at this time that are not very touristic.

Thanks Michelene and Sara their hospitality, the willingness to help us know the city and make our stay more enjoyable.

  • A very well situated apartment! You can not get closer to Postplatz unless you are lying on the tracks of the Straßenbahn. Everything is as described. Michelene is a charming and friendly host, as well as the rest of her family, including their dog. They provide more than any other host I have stayed with (towels, soap, etc.). When originally booking the room, I was wary of sleeping in the living room, but it was fine. The hosts give you you're privacy. Because the apartment is so close to Postplatz, there may be noise from the street. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. If staying near the cultural center of town is your goal, then this place is perfect. Only a few minutes walk from the river, the opera house, museums, the Frauenkirche, and a lot of shopping.
